Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

Live so that if you miss a day of work people aren’t hoping you’re dead.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Sometimes the world just tells you your cat is here.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

This country desperately needs a functioning fourth estate.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

He really is that stupid.

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

“When somebody takes the time to draw up a playbook, they’re gonna use it.”

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

I guess it takes one to know one, Hugh.

“Great American” is code for “a guy who’s received a blow job from Sean Hannity” right? Not sure what “Patriot” stands for, unless we’re talking about killing brown people.

Since he’s got the numbers up there, polling the Top 3 contenders plus a drop out and 911, I couldn’t help but think about this:

The Louisiana State GOP changed the rules at the eleventh hour to allow other candidates to file more delegates, even though there were plenty of delegates to compose full slates in each congressional district. At the time of the original January 10 deadline, Ron Paul had the largest number of delegates pledged to him. The party then changed the rules to give other candidates until January 12 to file more delegates.

In addition, due to mistakes by the Louisiana GOP, hundreds of voters were forced to file provisional ballots, including nearly 500 that could change the outcome of the election. According to the LA GOP, caucus locations relied on a voter list from November 1, 2007 or perhaps earlier despite the fact that under the caucus rules, voters need only have registered Republican before November 30, 2007.

There were even instances at the caucuses where state-certified Ron Paul delegates appearing on the ballot were forced to file a provisional ballot despite the fact they were pre-approved as delegates.

    link

If Ron Paul were to win Louisiana, he’d pick up some 30-odd delegates, which would put him squarely in the running with the Big Three Republicans.

    Rumsfeld:

    1. No plan for the Occupation. None.
    2. Treated General Eric Shinseki with utter contempt after the General testified before Congress that the invasion force should be at least 400,000 in order to occupy the country.
    3. (Paraphrase) You don’t go to war with the army you want, you go to war with the army you have.

So lets see, Rumsfeld? Fuck Rumsfeld. I sure other commenters will add to my little list of “complaints.” I suggest Hugh go watch this Frontline report called Rumsfeld’s War. Most of what is in it is now common knowledge but at the time (2004) it was certainly an eye-opener.

Great! War criminals can be patriots too, eh?

Ah, Louisiana — home of David Duke, Ron Paul, and other Republican embodiments of the Southern Strategy.

I’ve always wondered what it felt like to wake up after the wild, fun night look at who — or what — is lying next to you in the bed, and wonder how he, she — or it — got there. I gather that’s supposed to be a common experience in New Orleans, and I guess the Republicans just couldn’t stand not knowing.

For some people, it’s not enough to say, “I believe X;” they have to add, “And if you disagree with me you’re an idiot.” Jonah “Why don’t people take me seriously?” Goldberg also suffers from this kind of intellectual inferiority complex.

Classic logical fallacy — Hughy Lupus and the News is small-minded and loathsome, but that is irrelevant to whether those of us who don’t share his expansive appreciation of the innumerate…I mean innumerable…gifts of Donald Rumsfeld.

For the readers of this blog,

Step away from the media, read a detailed history of the man. I’m sure he never meant any harm to this country. He did however have to deal with media and politics like no other before him.

If you were to just strike the media out of the equation, we would be successfully rebuilding Iraq as I write. You seem to eat, digest and confirm what you hear, not what you take the time to research.

The Grand Panjandrum is right. Rumsfeld’s arrogance and contempt for anyone’s thought but his own seriously damaged this country. If one were a rabid, reactionary, and paranoid, one might think his actions were part of some vast Islamic conspiracy to weaken the US and make it ripe for takeover.

You seem eager to strike at anyone who happens to disagree with you. You appear that all current or former Bush administration members were lifelong failures and destined for failure.

You may want too believe that Rumsfeld was the keeper of the key, he was only the landlord of a specific aspect of the US, as is President Bush. They only hold the power they were eleceted or selected to wield.

Think about this! If they fail, we as a nation fail with them. We voted President Bush into office because we had that choice. He in turn made selections within his cabinet and voted upon by the senate to confirm. Where does the blame really fall?

By all accounts, I see this administration far superior to the Clinton administration and that of George Bush Sr. But I also see that all the whining pissants have a place in the prime time news. Those pissants from Hollywood to Paris seem to control our emotions and our forward progress. They have the money to control the press and the fortitude to see us destroyed.

Have any of you guys actually spoen with Chummy Rummy? I was truly surpriised with our brief encounter – I expected the guy to seem like he was living in some sort of Sea Monkey world where he was the smartest sea monkey in the bowl and that he had no cencern of ‘lesser people’ (i.e. any one whose last name was not Rumsfeld). This was, in fact the case, but I was surpried at how LOUDLY a man can profess his own stupidity.

If this is anyone’s ideal patraiot and American, I’d wager Rosanne Barr would be his ideal of health, hygine, and female form.
