Ok, I’m doing some back of the envelope calculations.
Assuming Obama wins pretty much all the upcoming states with 60% to 40%.
In order for Hillary to beat him, she’s got to win around 70% of the vote in Texas and Ohio.
If she does 60% in those three states, the results would be tied. If Obama does better than 60% in upcoming states, and holds her closer to 50%, Obama will be ahead.
The only states Hillary has done much over 50% are Arkansas and New York. So how likely is this?

Goodbye GOP, we won’t miss you.

Yep, it did the old heart good to see everyone and their mom exercising their right to vote. Especially since it is crinkle-nuts cold here today and the most popular local sport is bitching about the weather. I haven’t checked yet to see if the fact that WATER IS FALLING FROM THE SKY (OMG! RED ALERT!) is having an impact at the polls.

Obama has more votes than all Republicans combined.
Turnout is nearly 4 to 1 Democrat to Republican in Virginia.
which would be impressive if the media hadn’t already declared that the GOP race was over, and McCain had won.
No Democrat except for Johnson in the 1964 landslide had won Virginia since 1952. And while the approximately 800,000 democratic primary votes that have been cast looks impressive, 3.2 million virginians went to the polls in the 2004 general election.
In other words, its another “red state” victory for Obama.
(when he wins as expected in MD, then you’re looking at something that will be important if neither candidate can wrap things up before the convention. VA, not so much.)

Did I just hear Hillary coming out to “Where the Streets Have No Name” in El Paso? Doesn’t she realize the first two lines of that song are “I want to run, I want to hide…”??

Wow. I just got off the phone with my 2-time Bush supporting partisan Republic.an relative in VA, who said she supported Obama and would have voted for him, if the weather hadn’t derailed her efforts. (The ice storm made her slide off the MUP.) I knew she hated Hillary, but I would never have guessed she would have considered voting for Obama. I am seriously in shock.
Obama’s first ads were on tv here tonight in Texas. The local blogs are getting over-run. It should be interesting leading up to the primary. I’m curious if others have noticed a change in local blogs.
In 1992, people could have said, “No Democrat has won California since 1964!” State dynamics do change.
And the Democrats did win VA in 64.

This whole “Obama can only win red states” meme is one of the dumber ones I’ve heard. He is winning Democratic primaries. It really doesn’t matter whether those Democrats he is bringing to the table come from Alabama or Vermont.

D.C. is bluer than a Scotsman’s balls in January. I sometimes wonder if Bush can feel the loathing that residents of the city (and most of the surrounding ‘burbs) are beaming at him. It would explain his inability to form coherent phrases.

Obama beats the crap out of Clinton in VA, across all demographics except white women (and her lead there is narrow).
This is the beginning of the end. No way Clinton can recover the momentum between now and March 4th, esp. if Obama also takes WI on the 19th.
