Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“woke” is the new caravan.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

Hell hath no fury like a farmer bankrupted.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

One way or another, he’s a liar.

It’s all just conspiracy shit beamed down from the mothership.

“Perhaps I should have considered other options.” (head-desk)

We are aware of all internet traditions.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

Sometimes the world just tells you your cat is here.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

Also, are you sure you want people to rate your comments?

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

By the way, it terrifies me that decades after I was really into that song, I still know all of the blerping words to it. Couldn’t those brains cells have been put to better use over the years?

    From Albert Einstein Anecdotes:

One of Einstein’s colleagues asked him for his telephone number one day. Einstein reached for a telephone directory and looked it up. “You don’t remember your own number?” the man asked, startled.
“No,” Einstein answered. “Why should I memorize something I can so easily get from a book?”

Also from the Balko site linked in the original post this amazing shot, from a captive balloon of San Francisco in Ruins after the ’06 quake. You can zoom in on the photo to see detail.

The hapless San Franciscans, not having the advantage of Bush’s FEMA, somehow managed to rebuild their city nonetheless.

Anyone else a little skeptical about this satellite story? First the Chins take out a satty in orbs and get excoriated for it. Seems the US would want to demo the same cappy without all the PR mess. How convienent that a multi-mill satty just happens to go on the kibosh soon after launch, and now needs to be 86’d with a few bottle rockets taped to a Scud.

I call shenanigans on the whole official “sons o’ bitch just died after launch” story. Even experts thought this’d take years to reenter if it were truly unresponsive. Amazing what a few thrusters could do to that timeline.

Those of you who are interested can send messages to Superdelegates to the 2008 Dem Convention via this website.

Tell them your story and what you think they should do if called upon to help choose the Dem nominee in Denver.

If you are an Obama supporter as I am, you can also reach into your wallet and dig until it cries for mercy and give what you find there, to the Obama campaign.

Just did so today TZ, I’m happy to say. I’ve surprised even myself this election. I mean, normally, I’m happy to partake in the process and cast my vote, but this is the first time I’ve actually been moved to contribute to a campaign. And I won’t be surprised if I do so again before it’s all over.

Obama’s campaign got everything, not much sadly, that we could squeeze out of the budget this month. Thankfully, we’ll be getting that stimulus check and the campaign will be getting a nice slice of it. Seems like poetic justice somehow.

Hey Tom in Texas, I made your chili recipe for the Superbowl and it was awesome. It was actually better the second day, which tends to be true with things that are supposed to simmer for awhile in my experience. Not sure if I got the right chili pods as there’s not a lot of chili variety on the supermaket shelves in New Jersey, but it tasted great. The only thing I did differently was I cooked it with the beans for the last half hour or so (as opposed to pouring it over heated beans like you said.) Oh–and I didn’t use chili beer because I couldn’t find one anywhere.

I thought I would never type these words, but I think hillaryis44.com has to be the first ‘left wing hate site’ I have ever come across. Damn, the crap that is posted there has to be some of the most bile filled screeds that I have ever had the misfortune to see. The latest front page post is something called “The Rezko Cometh”. They do not have anything about Rezko and Obama specifically (other than the piece of property they bought at the same time that Obama bought his), but they spit out enough crap that tries to tie Obama into some money laundering deal with an Iraqi billionaire businessman, some Lebanese banker and Rezko. It is torturous to read, is filled with unattributed information from no-name sources, and it is clear that this site is not interested in Rezko. They are interested in what they can do to wrap Obama up in Rezko.

    The hillaryis44.com diary states:

Already, anonymous sites like RezkoWatch have popped up, ready to detail all the sordid ins and outs of the trial and speculate as to what it all means for Obama. The Chicago media will certainly cover the trial closely, and national outlets will pick up pieces of it as well. It will definitely be part of the media bloodstream.

If anyone has been reading Hillaryis44.com for more than ten minutes (without going batshit-screaming insane) can learn, RezkoWatch is not an anonymous site (blog, actually), but rather is run by what I am assuming is one of the top dogs at Hillaryis44.com, who goes by the moniker “BMerry”. I say ‘assuming’ because I do not know the organization structure over there (or if there is really anyone who is running that garbage dump), but the ‘regulars’ there defer just about everything to this person, and when “BMerry” admonishes people (once in a rare while) about something, they listen, respond politely and do not talk back to “BMerry”. I have noted that when members of Hillaryis44.com have problems logging in at the RezkoWatch blog, they address the problem directly to “BMerry”, who then helps them with the problem. Pretty easy tie-in, eh?

The rest of “The Rezko Cometh” diary is painful to read and makes little to no sense as they bounce from one point (I guess they think of it as a point) to another without explaining anything, leaving you feeling like you are just to believe everything there because there is such a volume of it.

Either way, they are slap happy in the comments section because they are getting this ‘important information’ out to the public by spamming everywhere they can about it. I checked out the RezkoWatch blog and it is about as dead as it gets, with a total of seven responses total for all of the blog entries on the first page.

Now I understand Hillary is giving Hillaryis44.com a nod and wink about running this site, but when the tags for a story about Obama include “scum”, they have to be mainlining the kool-aid. No drinking, pump that crap straight in to the veins! Personally, I can understand Hillary letting this site run wild like she does. It fits in perfectly with all of the other poor decisions she has made in the past, and thus is easily understood.

Going to Hillaryis44.com is like visiting a virtual mental hospital and viewing the patients through one way glass. If I did not know better, I would swear that Hillaryis44.com would be something that radical Obama supporters would cook up to make Hillary look bad. Cause it sure is not helping her one bit, that is for damn sure. Night before last I sent a link for Hillaryis44.com to a couple who are good friends of ours who are Hillary supporters (not kool-aid drinkers, just regular voters who like her). I had to go up to their house to install their new flat panel display yesterday (I service their computers), and the first thing Sue said to me was ‘My God! Is that place for real?!’. She seriously thought it was a hit site that was put up to burn Hillary!

I set up their display and we talked for a few afterward about this crap. She is going to dig more in to it (good for her), but if this is indeed a valid Hillary site, she said that she would not vote for her if their lives depended on it.

Sue is a smart lady. She is a bit of a political nut, so every time our families get together her and I jawjack about politics. She does like Obama, but favors Hillary because of “experience”. ;) We had a little talk about that, and Sue had to admit that other than the things Hillary did that she did not like (Kyl-Liebermann, AUMF and so on), she could not name off one good one. Just that she “is experienced”. I told her that I am impressed by the fact that Obama is a constitutional law scholar and a community organizer. I pointed out the 10 state strategy (eg: 50%+1 vote) and how Obama is kicking her ass in the other states.

I can tell I made a few good points to her, so I will see where she goes with it. Either way, if I could think that Hillaryis44.com is a hit site to hurt Hillary, now I know that another thought the same thing. I wonder if Hillary is aware that these mental patients are running the asylum and making her look like a real douche.

    O/T
The Malkinites are having a collective freak-out over the expiration of the FISA legislation. Someone get a shovel and a mop, I’ve never seen such rampant shorts-pissing and pants-shitting.

We know the evil-doers follow the news out of Washington closely, would it be fair say that the democraps in congress are playing chicken with the lives of our soldiers and citizens in the balance?

Not only is Pelosi irresponsible and unpatriotic, her refusal to act borders on aiding and abetting if anything serious happens.

I would hope that there are people who will continue listening anyway. What ever happened to the good old days when we didn’t have to know what the CIA was up to. It got us through the cold war just fine.

My disgust with Reid and Pelosi cannot be expressed with civility (there may not be words, civil or not, in the dictionary to describe it either).

But I’m worried even more that our country of 300M elects (and re-, re-, re-elects) people of their ilk.

Scary stuff — the end may be near for us and we helped bring it upon ourselves.

    Epic.
