Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Fight them, without becoming them!

White supremacy is terrorism.

Russia bombs Ukraine’s maternity hospitals; Republicans in the House can’t sort out supporting Ukraine.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

You’re just a puppy masquerading as an old coot.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

President Biden is doing good where he can, and getting it done.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

We are aware of all internet traditions.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Not all heroes wear capes.

It’s a new day. Light all those Biden polls of young people on fire and throw away the ashes.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

He imagines himself as The Big Bad, Who Is Universally Feared… instead of The Big Jagoff, Who Is Universally Mocked.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

In my day, never was longer.

Keep it clean, tempers are flaring. The goal is November.

BTW- I forgot to acknowledge our anniversary (someone else had theirs today and it jogged my memory). Again. I forget every damned year. Balloon Juice finished year number six last month.

Keep it clean, tempers are flaring.

You find? I haven’t done a lot of commenting on the whole primary process a) because I’m ignorant and b) ’cause I don’t have as much of a vested interest in the results. But I’ve been reading/lurking, and things really don’t seem to be any rowdier than they usually are. The only interesting part is that we’re fighting amongst ourselves instead of fighting with the odd rightie that stumbles over here.

I figure, it’s good for us to be sharpening our wits and our arguments. We’ll need ’em once the big game starts. I do hope that people don’t follow through with those petty bullshit threats to vote for McCain if Clinton gets in, or to vote for McCain if Obama gets in. Do you guys honestly think that the rest of the world can survive another Republican presidency right now?

    This is troubling.

MATTHEWS: You may have noticed a graphic over my shoulder — a picture we showed over my shoulder — that was a mistake earlier in the broadcast. We apologize for the error.

The “graphic” was picture of Osama bin Laden during a discussion of Obama

BLITZER: One additional note, I just want to make a correction, an apology, Soledad [O’Brien, co-host at the time], for what we did yesterday. In The Situation Room, we had a bad typographical error in one of our graphics. We were doing a piece on the hunt for Osama bin Laden in this new year, 2007.

Unfortunately, there was a graphic, instead of saying, “Where’s Osama?” it said, “Where’s Obama?” We want to apologize for that bad typo. We want to also apologize personally to Senator Barack Obama. I’m going to be making a call to him later this morning to offer my personal apology — Soledad.

Vote Obama to fuck the Noise Machine.

You liberals! Zombie Reagan would have the terrorist situation cleaned up by Christmas.

Hell yeah! I hear Beirut is a great vacation spot these days.

Clinton is giving a speech 30 minutes before the polls close tonight. HHHHhhh….. A little unusual. She says:

Both Senator Obama and I would make history. But only one of us is ready on day one to be commander in chief, ready to manage our economy, and ready to defeat the Republicans. Only one of us has spent 35 years being a doer, a fighter and a champion for those who need a voice. That is what I would bring to the White House. That is the choice in this election… It’s about picking a president who relies not just on words – but on work, hard work, to get America back to work. Someone who’s not just in the speeches business – but will get America back in the solutions business.

Baffling. Doesn’t she get it? Who fucking cares if she works hard? We want a President who works smart! All these screw ups in the primary (e.g. failing to sign up enough delegates in PA) are very disconcerting. If she wins the nomination I have little faith it would get any better. The people around her are morons. Why the hell would I choose Clinton over Obama when they continue to make tactical and strategic errors at almost every turn?

Jesus Christ, Hillary. Do you really need to keep shilling for the banks, while pretending to help people? Most of the people whose house you are trying to “save” are going to end up in foreclosure anyway. The way to help them is to ease them into that situation, and have programs to help them once it happens.

All a foreclosure freeze accomplishes is making these people make some more mortgage payments, throwing money down the rat hole, before they lose their house. Exactly how does that ehlp them?

At TalkLeft Jeralyn deleted a comment that merely asserted that Obama only needs to win one more to win the nomination.

The excuse was that ‘opinions’ are allowed but not if they’re stated as if they were facts.

The comments from this post at Taylor Marsh’s site are pretty entertaining.

Roger Simon of Politico just lied on CSpan, claiming that the DNC won’t seat MI because the only person on the ballot was Hillary Clinton. He failed to mention that Obama and others were there, as “uncommitteds” or that they removed their own names.

    That’s just great.

I think Wisconsin was the worst possible state for Clinton to find herself running in at this particular moment. It has all the demographics that make it look like a state she should do well in, but it’s the Upper Midwest. Politically, Wisconsin has a fair amount in common with those prairie states where Obama has been destroying all comers.

What that means is that you couldn’t have picked a state better suited for Obama to do well among Clinton’s base. That’s going to be the story for the next two weeks.

    Obama’s winning streak is intact.
And so is also Clinton’s streak of not congratulating Obama for winning…

I believe she did actually, on Super Tuesday.

    From Marsh’s comments:

I’m looking at the exits… all i can say is, something is seriously jacked-up when Obama wins 55/43 on the “cares about people” issue.

I mean, am I living in a different dimension? I ask this seriously.

srv, from the post you linked to:

the only people carping about it are lunatics like Chomsky, or fruity ax-grinders like Marc Herold.

    “fruity” ax-grinders?

    bwahahahahahahaha…ha..ha.

    Ha.

Man, reading that post really shines a spotlight on John’s transformation, dunnit?
