Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

Everybody saw this coming.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Republicans don’t trust women.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

People are complicated. Love is not.

Balloon Juice, where there is always someone who will say you’re doing it wrong.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

The arc of the moral universe doesn’t bend itself. it’s up to us.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

You are so fucked. Still, I wish you the best of luck.

Republicans can’t even be trusted with their own money.

I’m scanning his speechifying for Lenin and Trotsky quotes. Nietzsche couldn’t stop rambling about the empirical nature of “eben diese Welt” and change. I’m sure there’s something there, but it’s probably better in the original German.

Yes, Clinton’s accusations hurt Obama so badly that he just won in Wisconsin. That makes it nine in a row. Look for Clinton to begin brandishing a copy of “Mandingo” at campaign appearances.

Obama is one cool customer. So far he’s shown an incredible amount of grace under what has to be impossible stress.

We should also express our appreciation to the people of Wisconsin who thanked Hillary for the Iraq War!

Ya might want to stick sarcasm quotation marks around the “plagiarism” bit in the title. There are enough people out there taking this meme seriously without anybody thinking that Balloon-Juice is on board as well. :)

Obama just said he embraced globalization and liked the free-market, and didn’t want the government to run our lives. Clear proof of Stalinism, as if proof were needed.

    Wait, that’s satire, right?

It has to be. It’s just too damn funny. Not to mention it is EXACTLY how such silly accusations should be handled– with an equal dose of silliness.

If it is real then my fears about how he might fare in the face of the Mock Outrage Brigrade are totally unfounded.

    ah ha

Mr. Obama seemed interested in thinkers like Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud and Jean-Paul Sartre, whom he studied in a political thought class in his sophomore year.

Obama actually read some of the most influential thinkers and philosophers who ever existed!?!? While he was in school!??!?

That is just WRONG. C’mon, seriously, who enjoys thinking and reading about things just for fun?

Hillary didn’t need all that hoo-haa to think for herself.

It Takes A Village was original and revolutionary. Obama is just regurgitating outdated memes.

It may have been a long sppech, but for me it was the best yet. He hit every substantive note, knocking down all the people who say he’s nothing but rhetoric (and I’ve had that thought myself at times).

He wasn’t talking for those already convinced, he was roping in those of us who wanted the details. I clapped more than once, which I’ve never done for any of his speeches before.

Via the man who defends women from sexism even when they ask him to stop:

If this is a real change, then Clinton will be defeated on March 4 in Texas and Ohio and Obama will secure the nomination fairly, decisively and squarely.

But will a fair, decisive and square win stop Amandillo from being the whiny little twat we all know and love?

    Only time will tell.

While I love the fact that Obama has real guts (“grace under pressure”), I won’t relax until I see a macro. Something like, “Oh Fuck–Teh Nominee Is Here.”

While we’re at it, can you explain the quip? I didn’t get it. Was it sort of saying “why are you complaining about this stupid plagiarism complaint, have you seen the current president lately?” Or something like that?
