Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

Let there be snark.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

It’s a new day. Light all those Biden polls of young people on fire and throw away the ashes.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

Live so that if you miss a day of work people aren’t hoping you’re dead.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

Come on, man.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Just because you believe it, that doesn’t make it true.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

Let’s show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

The lights are all blinking red.

“But what about the lurkers?”

We are aware of all internet traditions.

This blog will pay for itself.

There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

There’s something indescribably meta about promoting this game on a blog. Don’t you wish that it came with a multiplayer mode? Oh wait, it does.

Discuss.

Is it just me, or has Paul Krugman become an amazing disappointment.

This whole process has been educational for me. It’s shined a bright light on the pundits who I might have respected, but can never take seriously again.

    Just trolled hillis44. Spotted this:

Keith Olbermann is openly advocating the murder of Hillary Clinton.

We need to say this. It does not preclude talking about the other elements that may be subsumed under that final act, that she would also be battered and raped, but the clear message sent out by Keith Olbermann is he wants someone to murder this woman.

Wouldn’t that be a great bit of fun if hillaryis44 was just a giant sociological experiment to attract participants and see how far you could draw them out to insane points of view? Like some kind of modern Milgram experiment?

    Martin,

What exact evidence (other than their own delusions) do they have for that?

    LOL

Olbermann was discussing the election with Newsweek’s Howard Fineman, a frequent guest. They topic was, how can a winner finally be determined in this never-ending Democratic race for the nomination? Of course, the assumption was that it was Clinton that should be shown the door (despite clearly still earning her spot in the race thanks to, um, voters). Fineman said that, all the delegate math aside, ultimately it was going to take “some adults somewhere in the Democratic party to step in and stop this thing, like a referee in a fight that could go on for thirty rounds. Those are the super, super, super delegates who are going to have to decide this.”

Said Olbermann: “Right. Somebody who can take her into a room and only he comes out.”

    And when contacted about it:

It is a metaphor. I apologize: the generic “he” gender could imply something untoward. It should’ve been “only the other comes out – from a political point of view.” You could’ve called for reaction first if your main motive had merely been criticism.

Their devotion to Clinton is so deep it’s pushed the very concept of metaphor out of their brains. I’ll admit it’s a metaphor that makes me wince because of a poor choice of wording, but seriously – that’s quite a leap to “she would also be battered and raped”

Their devotion to Clinton is so deep it’s pushed the very concept of metaphor out of their brains.

Kind of like the Republican War on Metaphor they’ve been waging ever since they decided to deify Bush. The extent to which the more fanatical Clinton supporters are coming to seem like Republicans is very disturbing.

(That said, it was a very tacky thing for Olbermann to say. Keith is a very clever guy, but sometimes he really does appear to have a problem with women.)
