A few days late; that’s what I get for focusing on my paid job. Anyhow, here’s a popular favorite to commemorate the occasion.

BTW, I notice from the post below that we raised eleven thousand freaking dollars for Barack Obama. That’s a lot of money. How much has Kos raised so far? Anybody know? If we can beat RedState-zilla to win a Nobel Peace Prize webbie award then we can kick Markos’s ass. I bet that we can even do it with first-time donors. If you already gave through the link, take a break and spend your money on pizza for a day or two. If you haven’t, click the link and leave a ten spot. It’s as easy as buying a CD from Amazon.
The odds are pretty good that many of you never gave to a campaign before. Yet if you’re reading this blog then odds are good that you’re pissed off about something, you live in America and you have the income to support a net connection, which means that you’re a prime candidate. Plus, in one sense it doesn’t even matte how much you give. The number of unique donors is as important for a campaign as the total dollar value. All you need to do is drop $10 or $25 to register your support and you’ve already made a difference.
…and if that doesn’t work, there is a whole internet full of Katherine Harris photos that I’m not afraid to use if I have to.

You know what to do.

How can the DFH’s here cough up so much money? I’m thinking that there’s been a rash of convenience store robberies.
montysano
Dope sales. Trading state secrets to the enemy. Scamming the gummint for welfare. You know….. the usual.
Zifnab
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Easy there big John. No need to do anything rash. Just put the mouse down. Let’s talk this out. No one here wants to see that and I think we can all get out of here in one piece if we keep everyone’s best interests at heart.
Just put down the mouse, John. Easy. Easy, now.
Ted
Tim, it’s not right to make threats like that. Seriously, there are some areas you just don’t go.
cbear
Ixnay, ixnay Dennis.
(that’s the last time I take you on a job)

I thought that we were just making a video for YouTube.
rawshark
Who’s John?
cbear
Yeah, and the next video we make might be titled “2 Old White Guys Discover the Joys of Prison Sex” if you don’t put a sock in it.
Ninerdave
Kos, Open Left, etc (Blue Majority) have raised $18k for Obama with 794 donors.
BJ is in second place in donors with 229 and 4th place in terms of cash with $11k

Then, it will be Krista and I’s turn to watch.

Speaking of RS, begs the question, how much did they raise for their website overhaul (**snicker**).
demimondian
Sheesh, Tim. That’s pretty vile. What’s next? Pictures of Katy-Bat-Lady showing off her plastic surgery on Faux News?
Lavocat
Well, alright, but ONLY if they’re NAKED photos.
AAbshier
Katherine Harris? She was my Congrescritter back when I lived in Sarasota. Her Senate campaign was pure comedy gold, and provided me with a wealth of photos.
I can help you with pix, if it comes to it. Bwahahahaha!
Delia
Okay, okay, I went and plunked in my little fifteen bucks. And I’d just sent in another fifteen just before you set up the whole website thingy.
And I’ll say this here and not on the latest Hillary thread. She not only is going for low information voters, but low information phone bankers. Since I’m in Oregon I’m now getting hit with the calls, and they do not seem to be smart people. Obama’s folk started calling me months ago looking for cash, and they’re much brighter.
Krista
You’re demented. I like that. Shall I bring the popcorn?
vwcat
My husband already gave our monthly bit to the Obama campaign from his work. I don’t think he went through Act Blue. sorry.
He is not a blog person.
The first time I ever gave to a campaign was a little over a year ago when I made my first donation to Obama. I’ve been donating ever since.
Dennis - SGMM
I can’t go back to prison – I threw away my pinafore.
Genine
Duh! :P
Sure and I’ll bring the Brewer’s Yeast. It’s yummy on popcorn!
demimondian
Krista — she’s not just demented, she’s crazy. *And* she’s got dreadful judgment in what constitutes “food”.
Brewer’s yeast is only good for one thing, and that’s being combined with hops, malted barley, and water to make beer.
Genine
I really take issue with that, Demi. Have you ever had Brewer’s yeast on popcorn before?
The rest of it, I really can’t argue about, except the redundancy.
Krista
I’m apprehensive. If it’s at all reminiscent of Vegemite, I’m not going there.
elf
Tim,
I am one who has never given to a campaign before. John, along with our new Fascist State has inspired me.
I will now enjoy my pizza!
Genine
I had to look Vegemite up. I never heard of it.
Now, that I have- HELL no! That stuff looks and sounds disgusting. I wouldn’t do that to anyone.
Brewer’s Yeast is powdery and light-brown. I buy it in bulk at Whole Foods. I only eat it on popcorn, though I know others that put it on other foods as well.
Krista
I’d try it. (Just ’cause my Dad raised me to always give a new food two chances before saying I didn’t like it.) One never knows.
demimondian
Nah, brewer’s yeast is less interesting than Vegemite, and you really can’t make sandwiches of it. But Vegemite doesn’t really work very well on popcorn — although I think that Vegemite popcorn balls sound almost worthy of BIRDZILLA.
Tim F.
Flaked brewer’s yeast is great on a whole host of things including popcorn, breakfast cereal and pasta. Now that I’m brewing pretty much all the time, I wonder whether it’s possible to dry down that huge yeast cake after caning the beer. If I eat all that stuff I’ll live to a hundred and fifty.
Genine
My popcorn recipe is butter, salt, pepper, dill weed, paprika, a smidgen of red pepper (sometimes), a dash of dry Parmesan cheese and brewer’s yeast. I adjust the amount of ingredients based on how much popcorn I have.
And Demi, Birdzilla sounds like the only being who might even eat popcorn with vegemite.
Zuzu
Yes, and it was also my main supplement when I was expecting 35 years ago. My son was 8lbs 2oz and had a full, full head of hair.
Mary
OMG, Genine. Yes, combining dill weed and paprika is the gateway to gastronomic glory. I use it in tomato soup, carrot and/or squash soup, mac and cheese, beef stew, egg salad — and when I next make popcorn, I’ll use it there, too.
Hey, Tim, I’ve got some brewer’s supplies that my ex-husband left in the basement that I’m thinking of listing on the Toronto Craigslist. Do you think asking $25 for a glass carabiner, with a box of 150 bottle caps and a bottling tool thrown in, is reasonable?
flyerhawk
Just contributed 50 dollars through ActBlue. First time I contributed through ActBlue, although I have given directly to Obama’s campaign on several occasions.
Tim in SF
Register for Act Blue. Then subsequent donations take less than 20 seconds. Now, every time Hilary pisses me off, I donate five bucks to Obama. VERY therapeutic, worth the money, about the same price as a drink in a bar and just as pleasurable.
demimondian
Mary, if everything works, then yes, $25 Canadian is quite reasonable for that — if anything, a little low.
Mary
Thanks, demi. From what I can see, a 5-6 gallon carboy (err, yeah, not carabiner) goes for about $20 new and a manual capper about $10-15, with the caps at about $2, so $25 used versus $32-37 new seemed a good price point. Maybe I’ll just ask for $30 and be prepared to go down to $25.
Birdzilla
Barack Obama is no different then any of the other demacrooks running for office
