Republicans may have a lousy record when it comes to the economy and the management of the war in Iraq, but they are hell on wheels when it comes to opposition research. Someone took the chance and started reviewing the recordings from services at Jeremiah Wright’s United Church of Christ. Holy smoke!! I am told there is a clip that is being held for the fall to drop at the appropriate time. The last thing Barack and Michelle need is a new clip that raises further questions about her judgment and temperament. Here’s what the Republicans are currently using in Tennessee:
When the ugly video tapes about Jeremiah Wright’s racist ravings first broke Barack Obama told us he could no more disown Jeremiah Wright than his own Grandmother. Well, we all know how that turned out. So will Barack stand by Michelle when the tape emerges of her verbally attacking “whitey?” Republicans, who are otherwise gloomy about prospects in November, recognize that this recording will create real problems for Barack and give them a shot at the White House. It is their October surprise.
Does Barack have an obligation to tell the Democrats, super delegates in particular, about this tape? Did Barack and his campaign do their basic homework and identify this tape as a potential problem? And, more importantly, do they have a copy? Probably better to deal with this issue before the convention rather than wait for October. What do you think?

That’s not how a good smear works. You’ve got to prep your audience. The Tennessee ad is the latest in a long line of building salvos aimed at Mrs Obama. After a few more rounds of talking head question-her-patriotism games, they’ll likely try to drop this bomb either right after Barack secures the nomination or right before he walks into the convention.
If there really is a tape, Obama would be good to pop the cork on it early and leak it to the press ASAP. And, honestly, I’ve got no doubt they have some sketchy clip from 20 years ago of Michelle Obama saying something on camera that could be contorted to offend white people. Hell, they may just have solid HD footage of her flat out stating “white people suck”. Still, I’ll be more worried about it when I finally see it. I mean, you save something like that for when you need to capture the news cycle or trump a bad news story. And if you spend time insinuating that such a video exists, building up interest, that video better be explosive or you’ll look idiotic.

Umm, I’m pretty sure Obama met Michelle after he started law school; and I’m pretty sure he met Wright when he was working as a community organizer between college and law school. Michelle Cottle has an article in The New Republic outlining some of the mistakes made by the Clinton campaign, and one of the mistakes she wrote about was their failure to be the ones to find the Wright tapes that caused such an uproar. If it’s true, Obama is screwed. It’s one thing to distance yourself from your church’s pastor, and another to try to distance yourself from your spouse. Someone could have also found a tape of Michelle Obama at the same time. Immediately after the Wright tapes surfaced, Trinity could have scrubbed any tapes with anything to do with the Obamas. Anyone looking after that wouldn’t find anything – but someone could have it from the earlier search. I know it sounds like some kind of wacky conspiracy theory, but it is possible. I’m pretty sure jake is right. I tried to replicate it in the Preview, without success; but I didn’t try terribly hard, and I didn’t try submitting my experiments to see if the preview was incorrect.
My personal pet peeve with the Balloon Juice commenting HTML is the way it requires a space before the equals sign, and no space after the equals sign, in a hyperlink (if you imagine the square brackets are angle brackets, [a href=”http://www.cnn.com”] doesn’t work and [a href = “http://www.cnn.com”] doesn’t work – at least in the Preview).

I bookmarked the site. In looking over online stuff, I have found at least one Obama supporter who has infiltrated Hillaryis44. I will leave the persona name out of it but I think that is good. If they want to have some ‘fun’, that can work both ways.
The attention has forced the Hillaryis44 people to go to private chat to keep people from seeing their plans/plotting. They know that they are being watched, and the pressure is showing.
What I find amusing/depressing is that so far, most posters at Kos prefer to ignore this. So, has ignoring crap like this in the past worked for Democrats? Wrong! The disinfecting action of bright light is needed to expose ratfucks like these, and I am glad that good people are working to do so.

Regarding the Hillaryis44 people, I find it interesting that one of the more prolific posters over there who is calling for Hillary supporters to vote for McCain is a character that goes by the name ‘Universal’, but his ‘real’ name on the internet is Paul F. Villarreal. Universal and his brother John run a relatively inactive sports web site that they also/mostly use to communicate with each other.
A quick search there shows that his bro is a Republican. In his brother’s own words:

I had to take an IQ test as part of a battery of assessments in my early 20’s. I won’t disclose my score, but I can say that I know enough to know when someone is full of shit. I was told that I had a high average, but I really did not care too much. Much later on in my life, I dug up the results and did some research to find out exactly how the IQ score works because I wanted to know what the various scores and the average of them meant.
I discovered that there have been many revisions to the IQ testing regimen over the years, but one thing I know is that a score of 174 is not given in any IQ test. Considering that physicians and surgeons are generally in the 130-140 point range, ‘John’ must be one brilliant light bulb.

Either works just fine but we humans find the former easier to use than the latter. Before DNS you had to maintain a hosts file that associated a site’s name with its IP in order to avoid having to type in an IP.
