Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The lights are all blinking red.

Decision time: keep arguing about the last election, or try to win the next one?

Today’s gop: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

“Alexa, change the president.”

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

The “burn-it-down” people are good with that until they become part of the kindling.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Bad people in a position to do bad things will do bad things because they are bad people. End of story.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

We still have time to mess this up!

Well, whatever it is, it’s better than being a Republican.

No one could have predicted…

Not rolling over. fuck you, make me.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

I swear, each month of 2025 will have its own history degree.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Ted Kennedy rushed to the hospital with stroke-like symptoms.

Hope it turns out to be nothing, but after spending 2 hours in the emergency room at Cape Cod before being airlifted to Mass. General, it doesn’t seem likely.

I had to google that to see where it came from. Sometimes it’s weird being part of Gen X, but at the very tail end of it.

No. I was being birthed during the second season, and I don’t recall any reruns of it.

Talk Left is reporting and the comments are respectful. Jeralyn has popped to dissuade any potential shit-stirring in the thread.

This is not about Sen. Kennedy’s politics, it’s about his health. Be respectful. If you have something negative to say about him, please do it elsewhere.

There’s a recording of a phone call of Hillary Clinton with sympathetic bloggers. Nothing new; she states as a matter of fact she’s winning in the popular vote, and calls for Michigan and Florida to be counted, and warns of the legitimacy of nominee being undermined.

    From the KOS:

Update IV: Some encouraging news: On CNN, Ed Henry is reporting that a Kennedy source says that the Senator himself at about 10:30 a.m. called someone to say he couldn’t host a luncheon. That would have been more than two hours after the originial 911 call.

So looks like it might not be too serious..

Now it seems the general consensus among the more unhinged at Big Pink is that Senator Kennedy is faking it and that Senator Obama will have to rush to his side, leaving the campaign trail and have a built-in excuse as to why he lost to Hillary in Oregon.

Or will he do what Hillary would do, and suspend the campaign, and travel to be with Kennedy’s family? (I KNOW IN MY BONES that that is what Hillary Clinton would do.)

a little good news for you inside the beltway types:

“Hans von Spakovsky — President Bush’s nominee to the FEC and a lighting rod for criticism over his history of voter suppression at the Justice Department — withdrew his nomination. The Senate had blocked Spakovsky over concern about his tenure at the DOJ, where he unilaterally approved stringent voter ID laws and blocked investigations into voter discrimination.”

Bush wouldn’t get rid of this guy even though there was no chance the senate would approve him with the result being that there weren’t enough warm bodies at the federal election commission to actually do anything. hopefully this will get cleared up fairly quickly. there’s some big decisions about mccains campaign financing that need to be addressed.

“…it was a seizure of some kind”

    Guilt?

Or, you can link to an actual well-known liberal blogger expressing any animosity at the ill-health of conservative politicians, and not a commenter. Got any links?
