Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

“woke” is the new caravan.

A lot of Dems talk about what the media tells them to talk about. Not helpful.

This really is a full service blog.

This Should Go Well

This post is in: I Can No Longer Rationally Discuss The Clinton Campaign

FacebookTweetEmail

Death throes of a campaign can be ugly:

The Democratic National Committee is bracing itself for protests outside its Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting on Saturday in Washington, where the fates of the Florida and Michigan primaries could finally be decided.

Supporters of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton are organizing to march and then gather on the street outside the panel’s meeting, scheduled for Saturday morning at a hotel in Northwest Washington.

“They’re coming up on buses, they’re taking the train, they’re Metro-ing, they’re coming up with friends,” said Allida Black, a professor at George Washington University and an event organizer. “We’re trying to flood it.”

Really, though- I am told this is being done in the name of party unity. You know, you have to break a few eggs and all that.

Also, Lanny Davis informs us that this is Obama’s fault.

*** Update ***

Meanwhile, Lanny Davis informs us that Hillary supporters are pissed off at Obama because… he is winning:

1. Couldn’t resist waiting one day after Sen. Clinton won West Virginia by 41 points to announce John Edwards endorsement.

2. Couldn’t resist waiting to win majority of ALL delegates (not just pledged delegates) to do victory lap speech in Iowa the night Hillary won Kentucky by 36 points.

The horror an unmitigated all- attempting to control the news cycle, during an election? The bastards! Announcing he had won a majority of delegates? Unbelievable! What other grave insults are in store for us? I bet that bastard Obama even announces he accepts the nomination at the Convention in August! When will the slights end?

*** Update #2 ***

The Obama campaign will be staging a sort of “counter-event,” of sorts. They will be registering voters in Virginia, and have asked people to refrain from turning the Rules Committee meeting into a circus.

Which event do you think will do more good for the party?

Take it for what it’s worth, but there’s a diary over on Kos suggesting the Obama campaign is discouraging its supporters from staging counter protests.

I’d put the odds that the pro-Hillary protest will look like a bunch of foam-at-the-mouth nutjobs at about 10-1.

I was watching Hardball (I know, keep hitting head against the wall) and Tucker Carlson was on. I thought they dumped that idiot. Jeez.

They were discussing McCain’s “Surrender” nonsense rhetoric like he had just said something new and clever. They (Matthews, Buchanan & dipshit), went on on how McCain was trying to end the war with dignity. I thought that ship sailed a long time ago?

My god, these people are working hard to fill the air time with anything……..

I have to laugh at the idea of Hillary’s campaign busing these people in when all I have been hearing is the crazier Clintonistas say that they think Obama has been busing his huge crowds from rally to rally. Now Hillary will actually be doing this for her supporters, and they are happy.

I hope the press gets to record what a mutant ‘Girls Gone Wild – Clinton Campaign Edition!‘ show looks like. Hopefully they will have a segment on burning bras.

The Committee protest might be more fun if it climaxed with a big ol’ bra burning, but alas, the days of foundationwear bonfires as a protest against the oppressive boot of patriarchy are but a distant memory…

Mr. Super has done a post with a timeline of events related to the MI/FL debacle, going back to 2002. It’s rather thin on events in 2008 following the primaries/straw polls/beauty contests, and it somewhat understates the Democrats’ role in Florida, but it provides the most detailed backstory I’ve seen.

I really hope that people listen to the Obama campaign on this. I think they are right in telling their supporters to stay away from any protests. I don’t think it would hurt if those who are disciplined enough to stay out of it do go to the meeting. It sure would look odd if one group is yelling, chanting, waving signs and being disruptive while another group is quiet and looking on in disapproval.

If Obama people show up, you can bet the Clinton people will video tape it (or use the press footage) and distort their presence into ‘proof that the Obama people are against counting the votes in MI & FL‘. That, and if anything goes wrong there you can bet the Obama people will be blamed for causing it (by the press & the Clinton gang).

Let them go and make fools of themselves. Dean, Pelosi and others are already pissed at Hillary for dumping on them as being the problem in counting MI & FL. I have even seen a statement from a Clinton supporter on the RBC who said that she is NOT receptive to Hillary’s position on them and that they have to pay a price for breaking the rules.

Hillary’s supporters are more than capable of totally screwing this up, just like their candidate has. Like I have said in the past, her campaign is an example of the blind, deaf and dumb leading the blind, deaf and dumb.

I have a feeling that this might turn in to whole new production, ‘Girls Gone Wild – Florida 2000 Recount Redux!‘

“Yes, you have the right to your opinion and I have the right to think your[sic] stupid.”

(Don’t include ‘(and I quote)’, as it’s redundant, and use [sic], short for sicut erat, it was thus, in square brackets, immediately after the offending word or phrase.)

Tomorrow, a bunch of oversized toddlers will become the unofficial poster children of the Democratic voter base.

so are you against israel and all it has done for us? are you against gay marriage? against jewish americans?

and don’t jump on the “you’re a racist if you don’t like obama aka a fucking muslim with a dirty name,a nd no experience who can’t seem to make up his mind about anything,a nd has no military experience, and is doing well simply bc he preches the bullshit “for the people” and bc he can’t think for himself.
he got edwards… edwards woudl be a great president. hell, i bet he will be. obama may be assisanatred before the fucking election! ya never know..
i think he will be assisanated tho, and THAT is what will start the REAL racial war in america.

PHOENIX – John McCain’s complex relationship with President Bush can be summed up with a simple saying: can’t live with him, can’t live without him.

The president’s own popularity is bottom-of-the-barrel low. Even allies privately fret that he’s an albatross for the Republican looking to succeed him. Voters are crying out for change amid a prolonged Iraq war and a weakened economy.

But Bush also is beloved among GOP loyalists. He’s a proven campaigner who can raise serious money. Those are huge assets as Arizona Sen. McCain works to rally the Republican base and fill his coffers while facing the Democrats’ unrivaled enthusiasm and record-breaking fundraising.

The president and his would-be successor were appearing together Tuesday for the first time in nearly three months at an event that epitomized both elements of their tricky alliance — they were holding a fundraiser with GOP faithful at a private home, without the media to document it.

By the McCain campaign’s own planning, the only time Bush and McCain would be captured on camera would be after the event — and too late to make most evening newscasts — on the Phoenix airport tarmac in the shadow of Air Force One, just before the president departs. McCain’s fundraisers typically are closed to the press; the White House deferred to the campaign. No statements were expected.

Democratic opponent Barack Obama, an Illinois senator poised to become the Democratic nominee, got in a jab in advance.

“No cameras. No reporters. And we all know why. Senator McCain doesn’t want to be seen, hat-in-hand, with the president whose failed policies he promises to continue for another four years,” Obama chided while campaigning in Nevada. “But the question for the American people is: Do we want to continue George Bush’s policies?”

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

    Makes perfect sense to me.

George Wallace Hillary Clinton, the candidate of hard-working white Americans, should use the tactics of the civil rights movement to make sure she gets what is due to her, which is to be like LBJ (and sometimes like RFK, except not in bad way).

Why do you think hard-working white Americans shouldn’t have civil rights? Are you people a bunch of Communists, or something? Stop trying to use that crystal skull to beam mind control rays at hard-working white Americans.

It’s bad enough that someone compared what Clinton was going through with gang rape. I think someone mentioned that on here a few weeks ago.

The HillHoles (as in ‘watering holes, not supporters!‘) online are full of her supporters who have been claiming this for quite some time now. I even saw a plea by a woman who said that she had been raped and it upset her to hear these people belittle the violence of real rape with their conflating it to a virtual rape of Hillary. She got no sympathy and was ignored.

It is disgusting to see this said, and I am being kind.

I won’t keep doing this, I swear, but I just got this from the gal.

    I emailed this back:

That YouTube video is nothing but lies, distortions and smears. I can’t believe someone I respect would disseminate something like that.

You have your candidate – great. I like Hillary and would be happy to vote for her. But I’d rather vote for Obama. Has nothing to do with race. I’d get into the why of it, but I’d be getting off on a tangent. My point is, helping spread lies about someone who is supposedly in your own party is beneath you and the rest of Hillary’s supporters.

    And I got this:

why do you say that video is lies? it was actual interviews/pics. it was on a news page.. not an anti site.
    from this week!
i don’t support us going against israel.. neither does hilary.
and hil is about to lose her chance.. and i wil then be voting repub. for the first time ever.
not bc of color, but bc i am simply scared for what our country has in store..

    and this:

did you even watch that video?
i found it on a news site posted last week. it’s not just a youtuber fucking off.
    shit’s serious.
i mean, watching it makes ME a little scared. thats’ why i posted. hoping people would watcxh and maybe open their eyes and ears to what the fuck we are in store for.
do you really think that if obama becomes pres everything will be better? really?
you don’t think he will be killed? that a racial war will start?
you think nothing but positive will come out of it?
not me. i’m thinking logically, and realisticly.
    shit’s gonna go down.
and we are gonna lose more and more americans..
not just in war, but here in front of our faces.

The reason I find this so interesting is I always wonder just WHO is posting all that crap on Hillaryis44.com. Now I have a face to put to teh stoopid.

So do you believe Obama is a Muslim attending a Christian church?

And I got no answer to that conundrum. I did, however get this:

    From: Billy K

Well, the fact is Obama has won the nomination. You can argue if you like, but when November rolls around, he’s going to be on the ballot with a “D” next to his name and he’ll be running against John McCain. I hope you’ll reconsider voting Republican.

John McCain is not going to get us out of Iraq.
John McCain is not going to support Roe vs. Wade
John McCain is not going to balance the budget.
John McCain is not going to work to help the poor and middle class.

You may not like Obama, but you know he’ll be better on all these issues than McCain. If nothing else, just think of the Justices McCain would appoint tot he courts. Do you really want Roe vs. Wade overturned? Do you really want Corporate criminals free to steal from the working class?

Obama is not a Muslim. He doesn’t hate Israel. He doesn’t hate America. He’s a good guy who has worked his way through the system and wants to fix our fucked up country. And I support him – but hell, I support ANY Democrat this year.

    —-

obama is not going to get us out of iraq either. he actually wants us to start yet ANOTHER war..
and i am fucking tired of helping the poor. get a fucking job!!
i work my ass off to pay out about $15,000 in taxes each year.. for what? healthcare? nope. for school tax? nope. for childcare? nope. wellfare? nope.
i don’t have any fucking kids.. so why shoudl i have to pay out so much to support families who have made bad decisions? women who have like 5 kids by different daddy’s that can’t even afford to support them?
why should we reward bad decisions? i don’t think the answer is giving more to the lazy. i think the answer is making the lazy get off their ass and work like the rest of us.
maybe make jobs more available, but not any more “frEE” INCOME FOR BEING IRRESPONSIBLE AND HAVING KIDS YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO SUPPORT.
shit sorry bout the caps. didn’t realize i pushed it.

    From: Billy K

Well, I’m not sure what you mean by “he actually wants us to start yet ANOTHER war.” I think that’s the opposite of what he’s said. He’s been the most consistently anti-war candidate of the bunch (aside from Kucinich). I would be interested in where you got this idea.

As far as helping the poor and your tax burden, it sounds like you would be more comfortable voting for a Republican. That’s fine lots of people do. Especially in Texas.

    DemDude,
    You said,
“They were discussing McCain’s “Surrender” nonsense rhetoric like he had just said something new and clever. They (Matthews, Buchanan & dipshit), went on on how McCain was trying to end the war with dignity. I thought that ship sailed a long time ago?”

Yup! that one’s been played before. Nixon spent four plus years seeking the GOP elusive “Peace with Honor”. It cost about 28,000 American lives in Vietnam. It ended with the “honorable” exit via helicoters from the roof of the American embassy in Saigon.
Do you know if how many helicopter pads there are in the “Green Zone”? I don’t.
Now, McInsane is running on Reagan’s nuclear agenda. Duh, guess that worked, right? Exactly how many more countries have been added to the nuclear empowered since the alzheimer impaired one left office?
    Oh, the derangement!
    And so it goes….

Meanwhile, Lanny Davis informs us that Hillary supporters are pissed off at Obama because… he is winning:

That’s consistent with the Clinton dead-enders’ habit of hating Obama for his qualities as well as his faults. Obama’s extraordinary organizational and fundraising achievements? He’s a Nazi trying to take over the party! (Not an exaggeration–see Lambert for that one.) Eloquence and charisma are seen as shallowness and dishonesty; when he takes the high road he’s a wimp (not a fighter like Clinton), and when he lands a punch he’s fighting dirty. Every single thing about him gets put through the Obama Hatred Translator and turned into a negative.

Oh, they’re complete idiots. They totally deserve to be made fun of.

What’s hard is this: sexism is so deeply ingrained in our (and just about every) culture that absent a conscious counter-effort, derision towards particular women tends to be expressed in sexist terms. So if we want to avoid that trap, we have to focus on (say) their facile slogans or their magical-thinking worldview or their moral rigidity rather than (say) their dress or makeup or physical appearance or conformity (or lack of conformity) to certain ‘feminine’ norms.

As I said in my Code Pink comment, if you’re mocking their illogic or their sense of entitlement or their nasty tactics, you’re on safer ground; if you’re mocking physical appearance, though, the odds are pretty good you’re spreading misogyny. How about ‘Girls and Guys Gone Wild – Hillary Clinton Edition‘. Jeez, I sometimes wonder if people enjoy humor any more. I hear Chappelle, Mencia and many other comics (white included) crack white, black, redneck and whatever other joke they can, and I laugh my ass off. Why? Because they are poking fun at stereotypes. Lots of people do it without having a racist, sexist or misogynistic bone in their bodies.

Humor is humor, and right now we sorely need some to maintain our sanity. Racism or sexism have nothing to do with it, even if unreasonable people think they can make it so. I said what I did because they are becoming as stupid and outrageous in what they are doing as the dumb chicks that get sucked in to the real GGW crap. They are nuts.

You let them set the narrative, and we end up in a society where everyone is afraid to poke fun at others because it is not politically correct.

But getting into a giggle and/or gagging fit over the fact that older women tend to have sagging breasts and therefore wouldn’t be as fun to watch when they hypothetically burn their bras isn’t about Clinton-based crazy anymore, it’s about older women’s bodies. See the difference?

And it makes it that much harder for those of us trying to make the case that the majority of Obama’s supporters aren’t misogynists.

    Jesus H. Christ.

Look, I’m a middle-aged woman. I stay active and I clean up reasonably well, but I’m not going to mistaken for my twenty-something self ever again. Given that a lot of a woman’s value in this society is dependent on her appearance, passing the age of 40 means that most of us who aren’t Helen Fucking Mirren either turn invisible or become targets for hoots of derision. It really sucks. You would not believe how much that sucks.

The kind of misogyny I read here today is ugly, unnecessary and hurtful. These Clinton supporters are fighting a lost cause, but some people here are rolling out the heavy artillery that hits not just these women — who, as far as I know, have no plans to strip at their protest — but a bunch of women who haven’t done a single fucking thing to hurt any of you. And until Dave Fucking Chappelle himself steps out here with some precise, cutting edge satire, I’d suggest that everyone else here stop flattering themselves about how outrageous and brave it is to talk shit about middle-aged women just because they’re middle-aged women. Save your vitriol for genuine offenses.

    Thanks for speaking up, Tom.

Agreed with your point. Side note: I first saw Helen Mirren in the movie 2010: The Year We Make Contact (mediocre sequel to 2001), playing a Russian (excellent faked accent) I NEXT saw her in Caligula where she engages in what can only be described as full XXX lesbian porn in at least one scene. Mock them all you want using gender-neutral language. Make it profane as you like so long as the reader can’t read it as demeaning of women. Because that’s what this is about, our frustration with Hillary’s crazier followers, not a war between men and women. Sure, it’s BJ, and you are free to say pretty much what you want. But please keep it real and on target, not a shotgun blast. Women put up with enough of this disrespectful bullshit from men all their lives, and we don’t need to add to it to make our points here.

But on a political level, and after having read the subsequent comments, I can see how my black bar comments were offensive, and definitely not helpful to the Obama cause. Therefore I retract what I said, and I very sincerely apologize to John and everyone else on the good ship Balloon Juice.

Apparently Taylor Marsh went off the reservation (ie, re-iterated that Obama needs to beat McCain) and this was a reaction at His44.org:

But Taylor is a dye-in-the-wool Democrat who wants to defeat McCain in 2008.

I’m trying to think how to put this to her.

    1. We all want to defeat McCain
    2. The best way to defeat McCain in Nov is to defeat Obama now.
    3. Planning now to vote for McCain may help to defeat Obama now.
    4. If Obama is defeated now, we don’t HAVE to face that choice in Nov.
    4. If Obama gets the nomination anyway, then she can dump us.

Well said, Mary. Frankly, the last few months have had their share of instances in which the democratic combatants reach for nasty Republican tropes in beating up on each other. Thus here we had a mockfest of bra burnings in addition to various (and thankfully isolated) misogynistic posts. I like to think much of the nastiness that crops up on both sides of the democratic primary is just a byproduct of intense identification with the candidate of choice, like the kind of vitriol you’ll see sports fans throw at other teams, and not a deep reflection of people’s hearts. That’s why I hope Billy K will keep working on his bizarre MySpace friend. I think the hatred on both sides will shake out, given enough time. First, hate the Clintoon, love the Obama.

    Second, not misogynist.

Third, over 60 and made fun of all the time for the phsyical effects of being over 60, which I will not enumerate for you here. Being male, and not ridiculous, I just laugh those remarks off, hahahaha. Hell, I think most of them are actually funny. I have no boobs, for the record, but I have at least one wrinkle and about 30% of my original hair. Don’t care. Only care that I am ambulatory and can breathe without assistance or oxygen. For that I am thankful beyond your wildest imagination.

Fourth, really tired of faux victim bullshit every time somebody uses a perjorative term that has gender and the gender is feminine. Honestly, I think it’s pretty asinine.

Fifth, specific body-part jokes about women are just over the line that I can put up with. These are not generic references of derision (b-word, et al) but instead are personal insults. But unlike personal insults that are context-based (say, associated with a specific topic that is germane to the blog), they are just gratuitous and to be avoided. Even I, the persona you love to hate, the fastest verbal bash trigger on the site, avoid this kind of personal attack almost all the time.

I will therefore swear off, disavow and renounce the “sagging boob” class of remark, unless the remark is directed at a man, like Rush Limabaugh. Or demi.

Lay off the personal degrading insults to women, that’s my two cents’ worth, and feel free to hold me to this if you see me violate it.

I think the reason that several of us feminists are so appalled at Ms. Hillary Clinton is that she (and many of her followers) are acting in ways that just reinforce the worst stereotypes about women + power.

Raving harridans doesn’t even half describe it.

I’m also extremely annoyed at the “if you don’t vote for Hillary you’re not a feminist!” schtick. No, I’m not voting for Hillary because I prefer to vote for someone who has demonstrated some COMPETENCE at getting things done, capisce? Voting for Hillary simply because she’s a woman would be just as silly as not voting for her because she’s a woman.

And since from what I’ve seen so far Obama is far more capable at getting things done than Hillary, I’d rather vote for Obama.

I don’t stand a chance against her, but it sure is fun trying! We are Jason Alexander/DuckMan type of comedy nuts. The Sam Kinison, Dave Chappelle, George Carlin, Chris Rock, Carlos Mencia, Denis Leary kind of humor.

    It’s a family thang. :)

I will therefore swear off, disavow and renounce the “sagging boob” class of remark, unless the remark is directed at a man, like Rush Limabaugh. Or demi.

Well, while I agree that it seems tasteless, I have to admit, I am not in the least bit concerned that that term refers to me. I’m a 46 year old female who is just now starting to realize I have a purpose for cleavage! :)

There are lots of Clinton dead-enders with penises.
In fact, I think a rather larger percentage of her support than is acknowledged comes from what was euphamistically described as Nascar dads in a previous election cycle, that is the remains of the Dixiecrats, an awful lot of whom are men.
I think Clinton supporters try to identify themselves with feminism for the same reason a lot of conservative causes attempt to co-opt progressive language.

Hicks is great too, but we have a sweet spot for Kinison. My wife and I went to see him at the Spokane Opera House eleven days before he was killed in the head-on crash. What was weird was that he cracked a joke about that stretch of highway at his show. That he could set the cruise control, set his alarm for an hour and nap until then before he had to make a turn.

We both thought it was ironic that he was killed on that stretch of highway. We still have the ticket stubs from the show.

That and he was a hell of a guitar player. He knew how to jam and damn good.

    The Human Cost of Occupation

American Deaths Since war began (3/19/03): 4084
    Since “Mission Accomplished” (5/1/03) ) 3945
Since Capture of Saddam (12/13/03): 3623
    Since Handover (6/29/04): 3225 Since Election (1/31/05): 2647
    American Wounded Official 30329
    Daily DoD Casualty Release
    320,000 Vets Have Brain Injuries

This one of the main issues the election is about. It is not about Hillary Clinton’s career. Hillary voted and many, many people died, were wounded, lost loved ones and had their homes destroyed. How many military familes who may have voted republican in the past are willing to now vote for Obama in order to end the waste of blood and treasure in Iraq.

But, but, what about a woman president?

Now for my feminist point of view—A woman with a Yale law degree, who stays with her husband after he humiliates her over and over again with his mistresses….is not a feminist icon. My grandmother always encouraged me to get an education so that wouldn’t have to take any kind of mistreatment from a man…just because I was dependent on him. Brand names should be for jeans, not elected officials. This is a democracy, not a monarchy. If Hillary were not the wife of a former president, she would not be Senator from New York. After her presidential campaign, she may not be even a senator anymore. How many elected officials in New York got out of the way for “Clinton Machine” instead of vying for the senate seat? This is the type of affirmative-action nobody wants to talk about. It is called nepotism. I want a woman president that came to prominence on her own, not because of who she was married to. Do we really want to become a Banana Republic. Who is Nancy Pelosi’s husband? Who is Kathleen Sebelius married to? I live in Texas and I have never heard anyone discuss Kay Bailey Hutchinson’s husband. These women are stable minded and competent. They should have risen to the top.
Hillary started with a 20+ point lead in the polls, name recognition, an air of inevitability bestowed upon her by the fawning press, a loyal, very large base of supporters and big money donors. So, how did Hillary Clinton come to a second place finish against a relative unknown? Imagine what would have happened if someone well known like the former Governor of Virginia, Warner had been in the race. Hillary’s campaign is now in debt, has stiffed vendors–even school districts and is so disorganized that this can be found on the official campaign website:
    http://www.hillaryclinton.com/actioncenter/event/view/?id=14350

Secondly, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and TED KENNEDY are laboring under the GROSS MISCONCEPTION that WE ARE AS DISLOYAL AND INSCRUPULOUS AS THEY ARE. Moreover, the DNC Leadership MUST BE CONVINCED THAT WE WILL NOT PASSIVELY ACCEPT Barack Obama as our Democratic Nominee, and that WE ARE STEADFAST Hillary Clinton Supporters.

Alright, I’ve read through this entire thread.

I have one advantage that the guys here don’t have, I’m a female. I’m about to take this fight into another direction.

As a woman and an Obama supporter who is watching the way these Clinton supporters are acting (they would have me believe the majority of them are women), I have to say the following:

The way these Clinton supporters are acting is embarrasing to me. They are acting like crybabies. They want all the candy in the grocery check out lane and they are not going to stop until they get it, and they are going to have a tantrum if they have to share with anyone. How childish.

These are strong women? Strong feminists? No, they’re not. They don’t play fair and they need to quit emoting like five years olds or sit down and shut the fuck up.

Message to all those Strong Clinton women: I will never take another thing you say seriously ever again. You have proven you are nothing but selfish and self-serving.

Never again will I afford you the slightest of dignity. You want a favor from me in 2018? Not if I find out you were one of these banshees screaming about how unfair it was to not have all the fucking candy in the store. Forget you, you are permanantly insignificant to me.

If they don’t like the Democrats in the Democratic party, then they can get the hell out. I certainly won’t miss them.

The irony that these women who say they are feminists and have (supposedly) always fought for the right to choose are willing to vote in such a way that they might put this country in a position where choice is taken away is mindblowing to me. These are not Democrats, these are crybabies who are holding a party hostage because they are not getting what they want. They are self-serving, they belong in the Republican party after all.

Joyce, awesome post. Thank you for sharing.

Remember how Clinton and her cheerleaders spent a month over Obama saying at a San Francisco fundraiser that blue-collars in the Rust Belt might be bitter? Remember elite?

    Check out

Susie Tompkins Buell, a longtime friend of Clinton’s and – along with her husband, Mark Buell – one of the country’s most generous Democratic donors, is one of the forces behind the WomenCount political action committee.

Since its formation earlier this month, the group has spent at least $140,000 to publish full-page ads in newspapers around the country in support of Clinton, according to the organization’s papers on file with the Federal Elections Commission.

The committee’s ads, headlined “Not So Fast,” urge that the votes of women – who make up 51 percent of the American electorate – be fully counted in the 2008 presidential election.

So who’s Susie Tompkins Buell, that most generous woman? Big money, who ran the Esprit line of clothing. She had her clothing made in sweat shops. From wiki:

Esprit de Corp. was found by the National Labor Relations Board to have illegally interrogated and intimidated $2-an-hour Chinese workers, and then to have shut down a factory to keep them from unionizing. The Department of Labor found that an Esprit contractor doctored payroll records and refused to pay overtime.

Bet all those women who were denied the right to be in a union, who got screwed out of pay, are all in solidarity with Clinton and Buell because they’re waving the feminist flag in front of their eyes…

But I really didn’t care to dig enough into her past to know about her Wal-Mart activities and I certainly didn’t know about Susie ‘Fucking Bitch’ Buell and her support of Hillary.

I’m just glad my union (UNITE HERE) isn’t one of the unions who isn’t drinking the Kool-Aid.

While there is an endless well of this nonsense, this example really set me back on my heels. Well it would have if I were standing up: [from the comments section at TNR, in response to an article saying MSNBC’s Obama bias hurts Obama]:

I am appalled and downright frightened to think that Obama’s campaign, from start to finish, has been fueled and downright pushed upon us by MSMBC, as well as other pro-Obama networks. Not only is it downright wrong because it is so pathetically unbalanced and childish, it condones people speaking out in reactive, unthoughtful and immature ways. What great role models for our children! As well, the blatent mysogeny now is clear and it makes most of us woman, whether black, red, white or gray, uncomfortable. In terms of Obama’s character and message, most of what I see now is that he is weak, much like Bush, in that he is not standing up and rising above the muck. He is part of it. Hillary seems to be the one rising above now. Please let the people speak.

    ***
so: Obama is the media creation, Hillary is the candidate of the people. They just don’t show up to her events as much as they do to his, or donate to her campaign as much as they do to his. But that’s all MSNBC’s fault.
