Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

He wakes up lying, and he lies all day.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Everyone is in a bubble, but some bubbles model reality far better than others!

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

The revolution will be supervised.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

This blog will pay for itself.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

All I want for Christmas is one goal.

Just one.

*** Update ***

Penguins win one, and as Tim notes in the comments, if you use Clinton rules and count only the goals your team made, we lead the series 1-0.

You may have to wait until next season. Or Osgood, Howard and Hasek could all be assassinated! It could happen.

Put out an APB for that choke-artist Malkin. His namesake of the wingnut blog has one less shot on goal this series. Of course I’m a Rangers fan … but still.

You could always jump on the ‘Fuck the Wings’ bandwagon and join me for a Fat Tire, snuggled warmly in our assertion that Scotty Bowman is Satan and at the end of the day, the Wings still have to play home games in Detroit.

Most of that power play for the Pens looked pretty good. Didn’t score, probably won’t, but it looked good.

I grant you five goals, all in this game even, and a game seven. The Pens have been asleep. Their fans will wake them up tonight.

Prohibition Ale is what we are tipping back.

And Bowman is gone… but his spirit may still live on.

Wings don’t look quite as alert/heads up tonight. Travel head or something.

Then, again, your Pens whipped my Flyers to win the Turnpike series.

The Detroit News claimed in a blurb that the Pistons were getting better ratings than the Wings. I emailed the writer and asked her if CBC was included. She said no, the CBC doesn’t give ratings.

Of course, most of us are watching on CBC. Did she correct or clarify? No.

To her I say: “Ha-Ha! Your medium is dying!” As well it should.

    Osgood shutout clock: 155 minutes.

Well, note that it IS and ale, complete with a pile of finishing hops.

It’s from that bastion of gay-marrying san francisco’s speakeasy brewery. I’m only drinking it because until saturday, sf is where I am an I make a point of drinking locally. It’s the least I can do.

I hope John is happy now. 2 goals.

    >San Francisco…How can I be sure they didn’t dry-hop it with a dildo…made of hops? Huh? Can you assure me that no-one was forced to Gay marry using the money this “business” made from these libations?
Can you assure the rest of ‘fly-over’ country that this beer’s San Francisco “values” (ha, it is to laugh!) won’t make my penis fall off, or seruptitiously sign me up to receive junkmail from NOW and the ACLU?

CAN YOU MAKE THAT PROMISE, sir?

    >CAN YOU MAKE THAT PROMISE, sir?

Um. No. Because I’m afraid you may psyche your penis to fall off and that would be no fault of the beer, but you’d think it was.

And if you really liked hops I’d point you at my favorite hard-to-get beer… Dreadnought.

Oh Crap, watching the Wings fall behind and I am completely sober. As terrific as the weekend was, this totally sucks (and no +2 1/2 tonight, I got a field trip to chaperone tomorrow). Oh well, this might mean Detroit can wrap it up in Detroit.

Woo hoo! Merry Christmas, John. Hey now the Pens can say they won two periods during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Cool. It won’t be a complete loss. Moral victories are buckets of awesome.

    And The Kid comes through…

Maybe the win will let Malkin take a deep breath. He’s still playing alone way too much… Good for them to get at least one win for the home fans! Still don’t think they’re gonna win four, but they play the games for a reason.

I’m just gonna sit here and drown my sorrows about my beloved ‘Nucks. I’d drink more, but I’m trying to figure out what the Sam Hill the new owners are doing. That’s vertigo-inducing enough, thanks.
