Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Cancel the cowardly Times and Post and set up an equivalent monthly donation to ProPublica.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

The “burn-it-down” people are good with that until they become part of the kindling.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

Welcome to day five of every-bit-as-bad-as-you-thought-it-would-be.

The words do not have to be perfect.

“Just close your eyes and kiss the girl and go where the tilt-a-whirl takes you.” ~OzarkHillbilly

There are times when telling just part of the truth is effectively a lie.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

The revolution will be supervised.

How stupid are these people?

He wakes up lying, and he lies all day.

Museums are not America’s attic for its racist shit.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

You are so fucked. Still, I wish you the best of luck.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Red State Brings The Funny

Every now and then, the folks at Red State say something that has me laughing with them, and this is one of those times. Dan McLaughlin, reacting to this claim by a Bishop that those who avoid climate change are as bad as the Austrian “Horror Dad”:

People Who Use Bad Analogies Are Just Like Child Rapists

Heh.

Ok, that was clever. And the Bishop should just be ignored.

Definitely an attempt to make a powerful, topical point that went awry.

I don’t know Dan. So, I really don’t know if he’s just like a child rapist or not. But, I’ll take his word for it.

Well, I’ve gotten word that there is a video showing Larry Johnson fellating a 8 year old so anything is possible.

There should be a license to make analogies, much in the way that we issue licenses to people who carry concealed weapons. They are just too harmful in the hands of inexperienced or reckless individuals.

That said, I do applaud FOX News for coming as close as they are physically capable of to talking about Climate Change. A shame they have to take such a mean-spirited and offensive swipe at people of faith.

Not that I’m claiming Larry Johnson is a pedophile, but did I mention he kind of reminds me of one?

It’s hard for me to get past the fact that, lately, TalkLeft makes RedState look like a model for sanity and moderation.

I thought bad analogies were one of the founding principles of internet discussion threads. I’m pretty sure a thread cannot exist without at least one.

But will RedState let Larry Johnson write for them when he becomes a Republican (about 3 months from now), or do they have some standards?

    RedState:

People Who Use Bad Analogies Are Just Like Child Rapists

It is a pretty good line. The problem is, I suspect RedState real belief is:

People Who Aren’t Right Wing Neocons Are Just Like Child Rapists
