Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

75% of people clapping liked the show!

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

T R E 4 5 O N

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

In my day, never was longer.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

All Canadians must watch what Colbert did to the theme of NHN on his show tonight.

Consider this an open thread.

For some quality snark, check out the (apparently unmoderated) comments on McCain’s golf gear site.

I saw what he did to the HNIC, (as in, Hockey Night In Canada), theme. What the hell is the NHN?

It seems the American invasion of Iraq has brought a craze in body building and steroids al la carte for every one. Why not have a country armed to the teeth and juiced with roid-rage. Especially if permanent war is the plan.

He says he is judicious about whom he sells steroids to and says they can be used safely. As their physiques have improved, Torkey and other bodybuilders who compete in tournaments have grown fond of veterinary steroids, which he said produce quicker results than regular ones.

But he doesn’t recommend them to everyone. “Those who are amateurs, we give them something else,” he said

Does this mean we now have to start referring to it as the TSN theme song? The CTV Olympic coverage theme song? The song formerly known as Prince?

    warning: nerd rage

HR 4279 needs to be stopped in the senate

it’s another asset forfeture law where if you have a file of ‘dubious origin’ (read, any p2p service, ever) the government can confiscate your computer

yes, that means downloading a wow patch via bittorrent == by by computer

    details here

    http://news.slashdot.org/article.pl?no_d2=1&sid=08/06/11/0213244

    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h110-4279

it’s from a democrat and passed w/out comment.
it also creates a copywrite cops office of the government.

frankly the senate has much more important things to deal with and i’ve seen 0 geek poliblog coverage of this thing.
good test of obama and hillery and the senate big wigs if they can throttle this abomination in the crib.

because we totally neeed another ‘war on ..’ in our government.

    HAHA OH WOW

“President Bush regrets his legacy as man who wanted war”

    Not an Onion article. Really.

“I think that in retrospect I could have used a different tone, a different rhetoric.”

Phrases such as “bring them on” or “dead or alive”, he said, “indicated to people that I was, you know, not a man of peace”.

Earlier this week we witnessed Laura Bush’s out of the blue, sympathetic posture toward Michelle Obama’s “proud of America” comment and now, W’s apparent softening (rueful??)attitude regarding his assholic stance on the war.

    Hmm…what’s up?

Could this be indicative of the contrite behavior one adopts when one knows the jig is up? I think the net is tightening around the Bush regime. His international banking pals have put their foot(s) down on the ponzi scheme and are choking off the money.

I think (hope) the Bush regime’s got no where to run right now. Laura was in Afghanistan, W’s making a Euro farewell tour (including the Vatican, ahem)but, why now?.

Now that they’ve run the dollar into the ground, they’re running around Europe and the Middle East, knocking on all kinds of bankers doors but, no one’s letting them in.

The Chickens are coming home to roost.

Obama wants to give asthmatic patients a breathalyzer. Must be the onset of Alzheimer’s…
