Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Everybody saw this coming.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

All hail the time of the bunny!

Stop using mental illness to avoid talking about armed white supremacy.

They are not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

Fight them, without becoming them!

He wakes up lying, and he lies all day.

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

“Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on.”

Our messy unity will be our strength.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

You know it’s bad when the Project 2025 people have to create training videos on “How To Be Normal”.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

I am pretty sure these ‘journalists’ were not always such a bootlicking sycophants.

Too Awesome For Words

This rocks:

I blogged a few weeks back about a convicted criminal, Larry Sinclair, who’d been begging the media to cover his wild allegations about Barack Obama. Today Sinclair trotted into the National Press Club to air the allegations before what can literally be described as an audience of international press, and can more accurately be described as an amused bunch of people taking in a circus act.

***

“Thank you.” Sinclair moved on and Sibley refused to let me ask another question. Why didn’t I wait until the end of the press conference and rush up to the accuser? The second Sinclair stopped taking questions, he fled the room and reporters were denied access to anyone but Sibley. I was a little disappointed until I heard the reason. Larry Sinclair was arrested after the press conference and is being held by the Washington, D.C. metropolitan police. He’s been charged as a fugitive from justice; one of his warrants can be seen here.

Question: Who will be the first to claim that if you speak out against Obamessiah, you get arrested? The Free Republic or No Quarter?

Nice to see Montgomery Sibley is on the case. Larr Eclair’s “I have proof, I have proof, … I’ll have proof later on,” schtick sounds painfully familiar.

At least Deborah Palfrey actually had some documents to back up her claims.

    This is the best part:

It got worse when Sinclair’s lawyer Montgomery Sibley—whose license is currently suspended in D.C. and Florida—showed up in a kilt and told reporters that his above-average endowment made slacks tight and uncomfortable.

OMG, the lunacy over at h44 is outstanding:

Why don’t you read LS’s statement? I’m not a huge follower of the story but the possible connection between LS, Donald Young, the choir director murdered in 2007 and you-know-who are intriguing, especially as Young was choir master at TUCC and was not straight.

    triple bank shot! with murder!

I pay attention to the Larry Sinclair stuff because of BO personality, I bet most of it is true, especially the part about Donald Young. There is a reason Rezko sent that message thru the judge. It was meant for Obama and Blogjevich. The man is scared to death. He is scared on the outside and now he is scared on the inside. He knows he is a marked man. We are talking about the Chicago Mob here, Rezko will not live a long time.

The Wisconsin Democratic party recently challenged and replaced a Clinton delegate who said that they were voting for McCain, so I wonder why this has not happened to Confloyd. She has openly posted who she is and that she is a Clinton delegate in Texas who is voting for McCain this fall.

Confloyd (Connie Floyd) is a racist little shit. Read enough of her crap at His44 and you will agree. Loud and clear, racist as hell and a McCain supporter to boot. The Wisconsin Democratic party recently challenged and replaced a Clinton delegate who said that they were voting for McCain, so I wonder why this has not happened to Confloyd. She has openly posted who she is and that she is a Clinton delegate in Texas who is voting for McCain this fall.

I hope someone who knows what to do can get her Texas delegate status stripped from her because she is no Democrat.

Yes, because contrary to received wisdom, the Internet is not an illustration of the famous statistical parable that a million monkeys with a million typewriters would eventually produce Shakespeare.

It is instead a worldwide medium which allows many hyperactive, oversexed monkeys to simultaneously fuck the same football.

Up to this point we have stayed away from the Larry Sinclair story. Larry alleges he did drugs and had consensual sex with Barack Obama. The Obama folks have gone crazy over the Sinclair allegations. Shortly after the press conference ended, Larry was arrested. I am sure this will encourage other folks to come forward and speak out (snark). Here is Larry’s statement. Decide for yourself.

Sinclair has just as much credibility as Jennifer Flowers and Paula Jones did. Neither had any evidence they had sex with Clinton but the right used them to great effect. Fox will make Sinclair a regular guest on their shows like they did with Flowers and Jones.
Obamabots don’t see the real danger here. Obama has come out and denied all this so now they can leak more information like finding the driver and suggestive credit card receipts if they exist. Quickly then Obama would seem like a liar, “I did not have sexual relations with that man”. Clinton already used the excuse fellatio is not sex, maybe Obama can try that one.
I made up a joke when Clinton got into trouble, it might apply to Obama soon. If Sinclair turns out to be telling the truth Obama can say he said the sex was fellatious, when people thought he said the sex allegations were fallacious.
And Young’s death being blamed on Obama is not much different from Vince Foster and all the others that supposedly died around the Clintons. The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is preparing to do the same with Obama as they did with Clinton, Gore and Kerry. They will probably help Sinclair with his legal problems like they subsidised Paula Jones with her.
Obama has already changed his ideas on many issues like invading Pakistan, removing troops immediately from Iraq, etc, and will be made to look like a flip flopper like Kerry.

Sinclair has just as much credibility as Jennifer Flowers and Paula Jones did. Neither had any evidence they had sex with Clinton

For starters, neither Flowers nor Jones have a history as a con artist. It does not bode well for your credibility when you’re taken away in handcuffs at the end of your “press conference” — one where, if you actually listen to it, the few press that were there spent more time grilling Sinclair on his crazy that doing anything like taking him seriously.

What got Clinton, and almost got Thomas, is that the cases against them did in fact, had corroborating evidence that made them credible — not enough to win a suit, but enough to get an ear by the mainstream media. Was it a right-wing cook-up op? Sure, but actually having evidence made it work, and even with all that, Clinton managed to make it to the White House. That’s an important point, if you’re trying to compare issues, here. It’s clear that your point is moot, because you can be smeared and still make it.

I’m always depressed, actually, by the people who run around screaming about the GOP smear machine. It’s like you guys think that these guys are all-powerful, control the media, etc. If it was up to you, we’d be running the blandest people possible, or demagogues as bad as the worst GOPers out there, because that’s the “only way to win”.

Fuck that. Neither tactic works. What does work is gritting your teeth, and working like a dog for every damned vote. Sitting around in a panic about the GOP smear machine means The Bastards Win.

So feel free to concern troll, to tell me and others who support Obama that he’s doomed. You guys have been pulling this crap out of your asses since he won Iowa, and he’s yet to fall.

You can choose to give in, and whimper in the corner like a whipped puppy. Or you can learn how to fight back, and not give in to smears and lies.

    Your choice. Your country.

There was a mess up by the Obamabots and he was allowed his First Amendment right. Now we will see if their is any free press in the U.S. up to doing their job to investigate. If no one either proves or disproves this with Larry S.’s info Lord help us. We will know their is no longer truth in Journalism. Ok, gotta make a living. Bad people, perhaps, but at least the run-up to their 15 minutes of fame wasn’t a career in petty crime and drug addiction.

Larry Sinclair, however, is an established small-time criminal, so let’s just put that “credibility” where it belongs, in the same trash bin as the Vince Foster fantasies, ok?

Now I’m not saying he’s going away completely, but really, how focused do you think people are going to be on this “issue” as they struggle to come up with the money to prevent foreclosure, or buy gas, or mourn the loss of a loved one who died because he or she couldn’t afford health insurance?

Let’s not waste any time worrying about what Fox News might or might not choose to put on the tube. Be content that they will always put up smears, however unsubstantiated. It’s what they do.

Obama will handle this well, and is giving every early indication that he’s no John Kerry with regard to defending himself or his family.

These killer androids possess mind-control rays that they use to manipulate the media and most of our law-enforcement and military leaders.

Woodrow, I don’t agree with that at all. Obama either did this or not. If he did then he might have picked someone who would be a credible witness or he might have picked someone no one would believe. Sinclair might have an average history for a gay prostitute in those circumstances. Not many college graduates with clean police records go into this line of work.

Flowers and Jones had no corroborating evidence either, no phone conversations, photos, stains on dresses, etc. I think Jones eventually had a police trooper supporting her story but they were not credible and the judge of the case threw it out.

The point was it looked credible enough for the VRWC to attack Clinton with by giving Flowers and Jones money and legal help. They admitted as much after Clinton finished his second term.

Sinclair so far does not appear to be taking money from anyone or he would have a slick lawyer paid for by the right. All having him arrested did was made him look like a martyr and persecuted since he admitted already these charges. At this point his story is not credible and not discredited either.

Doug they were hardly innocent, both were being paid off to continue their stories and had no evidence to back up their stories. They may or may not have been telling the truth but all they had was a superficially more credible background. If they had criminal records do you really think the right wouldn’t have still used them to get at Clinton?

You’re missing the point here, Flowers, Jones and Sinclair were all either lying or telling the truth. All had little or no evidence. If they were lying then they are all criminals regardless of whether they had actual criminal records or not. If Flowers made up her story then she was a bigger con artist than Sinclair was ever convicted of. If Jones made up her story then she was using the courts for a false charge of sexual harrassment.

On the other hand if they were telling the truth then their criminal history is irrelevant. Sometimes criminals have true stories too.

There’s a circular argument here. Flowers was a bad person because she accused Clinton falsely and since she was a bad person for this we shouldn’t believe her story about Clinton. Since Sinclair has no history of blackmailing people over gay sex his other criminal history is irrelevant. Obama does lisp like a gay though.

There’s going to be shit like this non-stop until November, some of it much less amusing than this. The GOP can’t win on their policies, and they can’t win with their recent displays of greed and incompetence. The main thing their election gurus can do is bring fear, uncertainty and doubt to the table. Over the next few months, people you know and respect will be saying things like, “Gee, I don’t know, I keep hearing all these stories about Obama. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire!”

They’re going to plant stories, they’re going to pop more accusers out of the woodwork, they’re going to use concern trolls, they’re going to astroturf letters to the editor, and they’re going to use push polls. It takes no skill to predict that they will do exactly what they have been doing for the last few decades.

The Republicans lose elections on individual issues that are important to voters; they’ve lost in this micro level for years. They win elections when people don’t pay enough attention, and are distracted by these endless games.

However, I don’t think the label, blame, and scare tactics work so well when people are grinding their teeth with anger over how much Bush and the Republicans have shat on America and all it can stand for.

Fox will make Sinclair a regular guest on their shows like they did with Flowers and Jones.

Dear heart, if they were going to do that, they’d have already done that. There’s nothing there, which is why the Sinclair story is getting precisely the attention it deserves: none and mockery, depending on the whim of the day.

Obamabots don’t see the real danger here.

That’s probably because there is no “real danger” here. Whodathunkit?

Obama has come out and denied all this so now they can leak more information like finding the driver and suggestive credit card receipts if they exist.

And then Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny will chime in and talk about their days in the Obama hot tub with the gay strippers. Just wait; it could happen!

maybe Obama can try that one.

Or maybe Obama can just settle for the truth. Weird the way that works.

    >The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is preparing to do the same with Obama as they did with Clinton, Gore and Kerry.

Of course they are, dear, but if Sinclair is the best they’ve got, which so far seems to be the case, the race is Obama’s to lose.

Obama has already changed his ideas on many issues like invading Pakistan, removing troops immediately from Iraq, etc, and will be made to look like a flip flopper like Kerry.

You mean just like McCain? Good luck with that, dear.

The point was it looked credible enough for the VRWC to attack Clinton with ….

See that’s your problem … the Sinclair accusations don’t look “credible enough,” which is why only morons like yourself continue to troll on this issue and pretend that there’s something to be concerned about.

PaulB, you’re not really a very good troll. I did reply to you once, but never again.

[…] Remember Larry Sinclair? I’m a day late with the outcome but here, courtesy of John Cole, is how it ended: The second Sinclair stopped taking questions, he fled the room and reporters were denied access to anyone but Sibley. I was a little disappointed until I heard the reason. Larry Sinclair was arrested after the press conference and is being held by the Washington, D.C. metropolitan police. He’s been charged as a fugitive from justice…. […]
