Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

The desire to stay informed is directly at odds with the need to not be constantly enraged.

When are you going to put that thermometer on one of the side bars?

That’s an average contribution of $59.83. And that’s exactly why the Republicans are so scared – hoi polloi-ish, riff raffing nobodies coming out by the millions to support a candidate and reject “the American Way” we’ve been subject to for the last few decades.

I’m curious about who donated a dollar, though.

I realize this is totally ancient in internet years, but it seems you have helped create a blog based on the ‘internet traditions’ stuff. Some of the images are pretty amusing … but man, doesn’t that seem like it was forever ago?

    I have a question.

If I donate now am I donating to the Primary or the General or does it matter?

I want to make sure my dough this time goes to the General.

    Thanks in advance.

He gets no more money from me until he comes out against FISA amnesty. My money will go Regina Tomas and others trying to take out Dems who have sold me and my civil liberties down the river.

    Adolphus:

I don’t think it makes any difference in practical terms whether its money for the primary or for the general. Money for the primary can be spent up until the convention, so all the money going to field organizing and TV ads running right now are funded by primary contributions, even though they’re clearly targeted at the general election. It’s a bookkeeping distinction, not a real one.

I’m not giving any money to anybody until I see who can run against my incumbent House member. They’ll get as much as I can give.

Uh Obama is against this FISA crap and has been since January and has said so several times and even voted against it before. It amazes me that people don’t think that he’s probably working on something right now. Also there’s the fact that he is in the senate, not the house, and while he is the “presumptive” nominee of the party he is not yet the HEAD of the party in congress, that would be pelosi and reid. Sure he has some sway and I am sure he is working with others in the senate to stop this horse shit.

Obama’s not going to come riding in on his white horse to save the day on FISA (nor would Hillary Clinton.) He’ll record a vote against it so he can claim he opposed it, but he won’t really lift a finger to actually stop it.

Given that he’s the leader of the party, it’s certainly within his power to say “this will not pass”, and it would be stopped. But we don’t have that kind of leader, so we’re not gonna get that.

    Idiotic? Not at all.

I personally don’t feel like throwing any more money at him until he does something useful on this.

I am issuing a Wingnut Whigout Red Alert. The Mexican Garter Snake is trying to Muscle its way on to the endangered species act protection list.

It could be a first step in taking away the jobs of hard working American Garter Snakes and eventually undoing the Gadsden Purchase and then the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo.

If you can imagine that it is possible, it could actually be possible. Or not.

It’s a bit early to be jumping Obama’s shit on this. The Senate doesn’t get going on it until next week.

“It’s a bit early to be jumping Obama’s shit on this. The Senate doesn’t get going on it until next week.

I’m not jumping on his shit, really. But under the circumstances it’s pretty silly to reward him for something as petty as not taking public funds.

I’d just rather withhold the goodies until his position on FISA becomes clear some time in the next week or so.

I think, but don’t know, that if you give him money now it will be for the primary, which means he can spend it now, but if you have maxed out, then if you give him anything more now it will be hoarded until he is the official and not just presumptive nominee.

But yeah, all the money he’s spending now is for the fight against McCain.

His position on Telecom immunity IS clear. He’s voted against it and came out against it. I am confident that he will vote against it again.

But there is only so much he can do. Obama is not the Universe. He is not Superman. Hell, if Superman existed he couldn’t even stop Congress from passing a crappy law- legally.

Sure, he could destroy the building and everyone in it- but that’s a whole other can of worms…

Obama opposes amnesty, while supporting the rest of the bill.

It does, however, grant retroactive immunity, and I will work in the Senate to remove this provision so that we can seek full accountability for past offenses.

I’m sure that’s not strong enough for most of us, but there you go, there’s your “coming out against FISA amnesty.”
