Speaking of Greenwald, I strongly recommend throwing a couple of bucks to his fund to take on the worst FISA offenders in ads and in primaries. They already raised over $300,000 freaking dollars.

We obviously can’t count on party leaders to do the right thing. If there is any hope at all it’s that we might make party leaders fear us constituents more than they fear David Broder.

    Me too. Already contributed. Twice.

    Earlier thought of suggesting an ActBlue link here for that fund on BJ, but I was worried sage battle pickers might get mad and call me names, so I followed Dem SOP: No battle too large or too small to pick. Just trying to feel the Democratic Party spirit. Really.

    Yep. Until Obama falls behind McCain in polls or donations (neither of which is likely), then that fund is the place to donate.

    As much as I detest Grover Norquist’s vision of a perfect America, I’m gaining more and more respect for his focus and drive in kicking the equivocators out of his party via primary challenge.

    I think before this year’s out, we’ll have such an organization on our side, maybe Greenwald’s ActBlue FISA page is the acorn from which this mighty oak can grow. I just watered it with another $100.

    I also donated $75 about a week ago. We need to be able to show that a lot of small donors really can compete with these large corporate PACs. Whether John was right that it was a losing hand or not, this is one small way to make it harder for these hacks to decide to trade civil liberties for PAC money.

    The FISA power isn’t political. It’s actually a display of the powerlessness of the political parties. The power accrues to the NSA. Whether Bush is in office or Obama is in the power accrues to the intelligence community. I have little doubt that the NSA was doing illegal spying back in the nineties. The current legislation is only because someone noticed.

    The bigger mystery to me is why everyone in the blogosphere can write over and over about this but leave out the NSA as a player in this, like it is only the car in the car crash.
