Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Keep the Immigrants and deport the fascists!

“But what about the lurkers?”

When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty. ~Thomas Jefferson

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

“In this country American means white. everybody else has to hyphenate.”

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

We can’t confuse what’s necessary to win elections with the policies that we want to implement when we do.

Dear media: perhaps we ought to let Donald Trump speak for himself!

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Human rights are not a matter of opinion!

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

Trump should be leading, not lying.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

These are not very smart people, and things got out of hand.

Another Obama Flip-Flop

The headline at der Spiegel says it all:

“Obama Refines Plans for Germany Trip.”

As we learned last week, when you refine plans, it is flip-flopping. Thanks mainstream media!

This is your Saturday open thread, and I will be back tomorrow.

    Thanks mainstream media!

I applaud the sentiment behind this. However, when the blogosphere descends to the level of MSM, which it pretty much has, it will need to elevate its game before it can stand in snarky criticism of MSM on these grounds.

We’ve watched MSM remain mostly silent as Mister Magoo has separated himself from almost every principled “position” he has ever taken as he goes after the presidency.

Blgoville has managed to turn into the Gotcha Machine on Obama, has taken this approach both on the right and the left.

We knew that MSM was useless, we have always known that. Who knew that the blogosphere was going to become just like them, only worse?

Looks like panic has struck GooPerville. Karl Rove in a speech tries to maintain the party meme of Obama as a Abotion loving Latte Liberal. Pleads not to believe the dem candidate on his so called moderating to the middle.

Mr. Rove also took aim Mr. Obama’s recent efforts to court “pro-life and values leaders” and try to “convince them that he’s a reasonable person.”

“I understand what he’s trying to do,” Mr. Rove said. “But there is a difference between talk and action. And in this instance, his actions over the years are far more important than any reassuring words that he can offer in a private conversation.”

I bet he does understand Obama using Rovian tactics against republicans. And for all the progressives currently prostrate on their fainting couches, Obama is playing to win, no not just win, but to destroy his opponent.

Yes, it’s triangulation, but against wingnuts, not his own party. And if you read closely his supposed flip-flop statements on the Supremes decision on guns and the death penalty for non-murders you will find he couches them in a Federalist framework, or states rights, and not necessarily his own beliefs. I say brilliant, and though others will disagree, they will get over it when he wins.

I say brilliant, and though others will disagree,

You misspelled “others are far too stupid to get what a national election is really all about,” but, who’s quibbling?

The Democrats have failed pretty much since WWII to get a real majority (more than 50.4 percent) of popular votes in a national election (Johnson being the exception, AFAIK) while the GOP has been pretty adept at it. We scoff at Rovian politics, but the fact is, it is effective at keeping the base committed and getting the vote out. Those are things that are necessary to win at this level.

Quote of the day on this theme that I picked up in some comment section:

Things I learned this morning from NPR: Wesley Clark attacked John McCain’s military service; Swift Boat Veterans “changed” the perception of Kerry…

I have nothing to add to that.

The MSM doesn’t do nuance. Neither does the Republican Party. Meanwhile the Dems can’t even get everyone in the room at the same time for an evening of cheese, grapes and Snapple to decide what nuance means. My party sucks.

A quicker way to say this would have been “Not since Johnson have the Dems been able to get a real majority,” etc.

    More truthful, too.

    Just sayin’.

    K.Lo’s House of Crazy.

A totally crazy Saturday-morning thought: Wouldn’t George W. Bush make an awesome high-school government teacher? Wouldn’t it be something if his post-presidential life would up being that kind of post-service service? How’s that for a model? Who needs Harvard visiting chairs and high-end lectures? How about Crawford High? (Or wherever?) Reach out and touch the young before they are jaded, or break them of the cynicism pop culture and possibly their parents have passed down to them. Whatever you think of President Bush, he’s a likable guy in love with his country with some history and experience to share.

Like I said, crazy. Saturday. Have a good one.

He didn’t even make a very good kindergarten teacher.

Uh, no, I think it’s more accurate (which I think means truthful, at least here in Arizona) to say that it has happened once since Truman.

That’s 15 presidential elections, with one really solid majority for Dems.

That tells the true story, which is that Dems suck at uniting behind presidential candidates, and then getting out the vote for their candidate.

Markos Moulitsas, who advanced this idea about a week or ten days ago, followed it closely with an announcement that he was withholding his personal campaing contributions from Barack Obama over the FISA issue.

Which just shows to go you, even the bright Dems can be completely asinine idiots at election time and figure out ways to shoot the party, and thereby the country, in the groin.

Checkout K-lo’s Kraziness at the Korner, here.

She seems to think that GWB would make a like totally awesome High School History Teacher in his post presidency.

It’d be a public service for Bush to get a hold of the younguns before they get all jaded and such.

    She’s gotta be joking.

The joke isn’t on the German media; it’s on the US media. Of course the headline means just what it says. That’s the point.

In North Carolina, we don’t appreciate people who pretend to be something they are not —- Obama won the primaries based on his liberal agenda, but now he feels to win this election, he has to move to the center. So who is he? Once elected will he “flip flop” back to his original positions? Can we trust a person like this. I think not!! I stand in John McCain. Better a devil we know than one we don’t know. 143 days in the Senate? and he bases his creds for being the President on that??? Wake up, America!!
