Thought that was odd.

Probably because it was mostly in the can before he actually died and the producer didn’t know how to fit it in an appropriate manner? That’d be my guess. I think they want to be really careful to not look like they are promoting the movie on his death.

As for the Dark Knight, I watched the bootleg “first 6 minutes” trailer and I can hardly contain my excitement. Finally, perhaps, there will be a Batman movie that does justice to the depth and genuine insanity of the comic (although Nolan and Bale’s first one was quite, quite good).

Not a big deal. The studios, strangely enough, are trying to deal with this issue tastefully.
Entertainment Weekly (the magazine and the website) made Ledger’s performance the focus of their coverage of the film (‘The Dark Knight’: Tragedy and Triumph’)
Ledger’s fellow actors have become protective of his memory, coming down hard on one of the tabloid TV shows that wanted to feature some pics and videos of Ledger intoxicated or on drugs in public. And there is just no good way to try to market the film using Ledger’s death as a selling point.
By the way, a NYT story notes how the film, and the promise of Ledger’s performance, is already sparking an intense interest among fans and the curious:

Ever since Clooney had his bat nipples Batman was in the tank. Until of course Christian Bale showed up to do it properly, that man is one hell of an actor.
I cant wait for the new movie to come out.
Ledger was a good actor and its a shame what happened to the lad.

I’ve got an iPod Touch–I don’t use a cell phone enough to make the monthly fees worth it. I will be getting the firmware upgrade, though, so that I can connect to the campus wireless network without having to constantly authenticate.
