Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Joe Lieberman disappointingly reemerged to remind us that he’s still alive.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

Prediction: the GOP will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

Roe isn’t about choice, it’s about freedom.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

I’m sure you banged some questionable people yourself.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Republicans don’t trust women.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Schmidt just says fuck it, opens a tea shop.

Despite his magical powers, I don’t think Trump is thinking this through, to be honest.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

I know this must be bad for Joe Biden, I just don’t know how.

He really is that stupid.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

We still have time to mess this up!

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

More Liberal Fascism

More liberal fascism can be found here, as it is noted that liberal fascists killed all the founding fathers before they could ink the 13th amendment. Does it ever stop?

The 13th amendment lists involuntary servitude and slavery as different things. If they were the same, the founders wouldn’t have wasted the ink repeating themselves.

Yes! And Buchenwald wasn’t a death camp.

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

It couldn’t be that they were just making themselves extra clear for future thick-skulled generations. Nope, that would be a waste of ink.

Sometimes I feel bad for making fun of Johan LoededHosen. He really is such a stupid motherfucker it almost feels like laughing at someone who is mentally disabled.

Nepotism has always served well as a leveling force for intellectual thought, as is so ably demonstrated by Jonah and the LA Times

    Goldberg:

Update: Yes, yes: In my haste I referred to the “founders” rather than the authors. There were no founders left alive when it came time to ratify the 13th amendment. I regret the error, particularly for all the boneheaded insults its generated in my email box.

To paraphrase Forrest Gump: “Idiot is as idiot does.” Or in Goldberg’s case, pundits (verb).

If the founders wanted us to fly on planes, they would have given us wings. UPDATE: Yes, in my haste I said founders when I meant Mommy.

Also, people who obsess over the small details of highly controversial things said by right wingers are, of course, fascists, and the founders agree with me.

UPDATE: Yes, in my haste, I said ‘founders’ when I meant ‘the idiotic L.A. Times which got rid of Robert Scheer to hire me’.

He thinks he’s popular because 354 people went to his column to insult him? What is it with wingnutz and their chronic narcissistic personality disorder?

The hooker that probably charges him double was really in love with him, too.

The most annoying/infuriating thing about JG is not his political views. I don’t agree with anything George Will says but at least he’s can write a resonably coherent paragraph. Goldberg is just so stupid and so wrong time after time after time.

SO WHY DOES HE SHOW UP IN MY NEWSPAPER?!?!?

What do you expect from someone who thinks that facism is defined by dietary preference.

It’s a good thing that mommy and daddy got Jonah his writing job, because nepotism and wingnut affirmative action are the only things that stand between Jonah and a job bagging groceries.

Seriously, John, you need to look at these stories with snark (see Yglesias) rather than exasperation. Because it will never, ever stop.

While Jonah is clearly a moron, there’s actually an important point here: in looking at the constitutional foundations of the US, there’s not one seminal event but two: the Founding and the Reconstruction.

It’s good to avoid calling other people boneheaded in a sentence containing an elementary grammatical error.

    No.

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Since Jonah so considerately linked to the LAT copy of his article and the hundreds of insults, I offer this one from the first page, which I found charming.

Does it hurt Jonah? Does it hurt to be that cripplingly stupid? Please, keep writing books, I need to housebreak my puppy.
