Turns out that the Dark Knight was just a forgery. A certified expert looked at the kerning and heat values.

Freakin’ fantastic movie. Really well done.
Do you ever go to movies as John +3 and yell at the screen?

woops – drives me nuts when it takes a few minutes to connect to host and I think I can hit the stop button to modify my comment but really it’s already posted.
Like they said to me in the military, “when does learning occur?”

SPOILER: Heath Ledger dies.

Just a caveat, if you’re by chance planning to see it on Imax: my wife and daughter are big superhero-movie fans, and they came home from the local Imax with nausea and headaches. They said it was projected so large that they could never actually take in the whole image at one time.
Apparently the rest of the audience wasn’t troubled by it, so maybe they’re just DFH sissies, ill-suited for life in the Matrix.
YMMV.

Saw Hellboy today.
My enjoyment was greatly impaired by indigestion triggered by the trailer for yet another fucking George Mucas Star Wars Movie.
There must be some way to stop this hack from hacking out another hacktacular hacktastrophe. There’s just gotta.

I just saw this for the first time

Dark Knight is the fucking bomb. Heath ledger is awesome.

There’s a really disturbing message in that movie about terrorism, but I doubt anyone in the MSM will address it…

failblog is awesome. gratitude xprssd.

I may be alone, but I’m looking forward to the new X-Files movie.

BATMAN!
You will not regret it. So nice, I’ve seen it twice. And I plan to see it again in IMAX. And maybe a few more times after that.
The entire film is absolutely incredible. Assuming they make a third, I have absolutely no idea how they plan to top it.

Why are y’all so serious?

Saw “the Dark Knight” in a not-quite-full theater last night, all ages from preteen to older adult. When it was over, everyone was stunned speechless. The house lights came up and it was almost a minute before anyone moved or started talking.
Interesting that a comic book movie is the most grown-up film I’ve seen in years. I think the two discourses (I won’t call them monologues because it was an interaction with other characters) on terrorism and chaos the Joker gives have nailed the futility of “fighting” terrorism better than seven-plus years of gasbaggery.
Matt
It was a good movie with a great performance. Don’t get your hopes too high.

The Dark Knight was indeed all that. Hyperdetailed thoughts from my end here.

It’s not the servers, it’s just that an increasingly batshit crazy Riverdaughter is posting at such a furious pace over at The Confluence that she’s clogging up all of the tubes.

Fixed.

also, word to what DNA and ned have to say regarding the message…

Will that be with the extra wide stance or the scuba gear with optional dildos?

I saw it and lost a bet that there’d be only three previews and one would be for a rom-com date movie (our local theater likes to mix up the previews) Seven previews and every last one of them featuring grim violent urban fantasy comic book movie with pecs-tacular wise-cracking superhero/anti-hero blah blah blah. Too much of a
goodthing, yes. Tropic Thunder was the only one that looked like it had potential.Batman? Pretty good. Ledger was fantastic spooky with his little slurpy mouth noises and bizarre, affable rants.

Hmm. My internet hamsters are only running slow on this blog’s wheel.

Thank you.

OT…to all youse lawyers outtie there….
Read this in the NYT w/r/t Gitmo trials:
WTF? So what is the purpose of a trial, if an acquittal just keeps you locked up? Isn’t that an explicit and overt case of keeping an innocent man in jail?
Seriously, what the fuck is this?

Did anyone here know that Obama is just like Hitler?
Seriously, when the O-man actually wins this thing, these people may actually resort to violence. Unhinged is putting it mildly.

Holy shit I love failblog. Fantastic catch.

No Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent, no peace.

I thought it was a pretty good movie. Liked the acting a lot (especially the new, improved, Rachel Dawes. :) ) Needed some trimming, though- lately in action movies it seems like all the action sequences have equal weight and I get confused about when the big climax of the picture is and start to feel like the movie will never, ever end and I will be trapped forever, always desperately needing the bathroom, but afraid while gone I’ll miss something that will necessitate my having to see the entire movie again so I can catch the ninety seconds I missed because they were the best ninety seconds of the film.
Seriously, could we have trimmed a wee bit? The boats, or something?
Camper Joe
It is a masterpiece. It is the pinnacle of its genre. I personally think that Christopher Nolan should just walk away from Batman now. Leave us our memories and not soil them with another Spider-Man 3 or an X-Men 3.

When I first came out of it, the boat thing really bothered me. (Major spoilers ahead, to give fair warning) The idea that they’re both saved seemed out of line with some sense of at least one side’s basic nature. My personal feeling at the point when “Random Civilian in a suit” steps up to blow the convicts was that he was gonna click the trigger and blow up the civilian ship. The twisted logic and sick choices the Joker presents throughout the film made that seem like the logical plan to me.
-Because it didn’t end that way, and thus added yet another unexpected twist, is the genius of it. Additionally, I think the feeling that both the convicts and civilians overcame the Joker’s game helps add another dimension to the tragedy of Harvey Dent. The same people that would give into the Joker’s game earlier are now stronger than the man most able to resist them during the first half.
I’m not sure how the Academy will receive Ledger. I could live with any result there because at the end of the day it’s a gold statue presented by a bunch of Hollywood bigwigs to legitimize themselves. His performance is amazing, but I must commend the script. Ledger could have been just has crazy and insane and such but without that script… he would have just been another clown. The writers are the real stars here… they create the Joker’s ultimate dilemmas and create ways to make him nearly invincible. (ie the grenade threat around the mob, any average mobster would’ve put a clip into his face)

I saw it yesterday on Imax– it was absolutely fucking fantastic. I was completely blown away. I can’t remember the last time such a big Hollywood production impressed me so. Maybe never.
Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar for his performance, it was nothing short of stellar.
Also, I want Batman’s motorcycle.

I saw a preview for Watchmen ahead of TDK, which is hardly a humdrum superhero movie.
Unless they’ve ripped its soul out and stretched it as I thin as they could to make the celluloid, which would not be a surprise.
