    …reading…reading….reading…

But the Bush administration apparently conveyed to the Pakistani military after that episode that it now expected the Musharraf regime to deliver high-ranking al Qaeda officials — and to do so at a particularly advantageous moment for the administration. The New Republic magazine reported Jul. 15, 2004 that a White House aide had told the visiting head of ISI, Ehsan ul-Haq, that “it would be best if the arrest or killing of any HVT [high value target] were announced on 26, 27 or 28 July.” Those were the last three days of the Democratic National Convention.

something to keep in mind, i suppose.

Investigative journalist Erick Erickson is investigating the University of Chicago’s coverup of Obama’s secret love of terrorists….

The University of Illinois Chicago refuses to release documents held at the public institution’s library relating to the Annenberg Challenge on Excellence in Education.

The Annenberg Challenge was run by none other than Barack Obama and was started by terrorist Bill Ayers, in whose home Barack Obama got his political start.

The Special Collections section of the Richard J. Daley Library at the university had agreed to make the documents available for review by reporters, but the university then refused.

The records now will not be released.

What is the University of Illinois hiding? Is it destroying damning information about Obama before deciding to release the information?

Contact the Richard J. Daley Library at (312) 996-2724 and tell them to release the Annenberg Challenge files for public inspection.

Call Barack Obama at (202) 224-2854 and ask him to support the public release of the Annenberg Challenge files.

What are they hiding? I suspect the documents will show that Barack Obama had a direct, substantial relationship with terrorist Bill Ayers — a relationship Obama denies having.

But we will not know without your help.

    Call now.

    Sincerely yours,

    Erick Erickson

No, Russia made an entirely predictable, understandable move given the laws of geopolitical spheres of influence.

The US is extending a military alliance to the borders of another Great Power. Now that’s provocative.

The fact that Russia’s neighbors are jittery is a fact (albeit regrettable) of great power politics. Or would you have had the USSR attack the US when we were slaughtering people in Central America a couple decades ago?

Leaked video of Obama deciding on a running mate.

I thought that was breakfast at the McCain Mansion.

You know, their relationship has been on my muddled mind since yesterday when I saw two clips of them together, perhaps from yesterday. She’s got her right arm in the sling, and they are disembarking a plane. She’s grabbing onto the rail with her left hand and to my eyes (and I watched this very carefully twice), he is doing nothing at all to assist or ensure her safety. The next scene is in a diner and he is already seated at the table while she tries to pull her chair up behind her as she seats herself, with one hand. Is she dead to him or what? How classless can the man be? (that can be rhetorical.)

That led me to recalling W’s beaten-to-death comment about “marrying up”. Much like McCain’s “drunken sailor spending” and “bear DNA” scream-when-I-hear-them, rote quips. Of course for him to use the marrying up line would imply that he married up from his first wife, so surely that’s the catch there.

Trollop and c**t episodes aside, every time I look at Cindy I just know that to some degree she is on the receiving end of a good amount of emotional and verbal abuse from her hot-tempered, mean-mouthed old Maverick. I’m going back to dwelling on the Obama’s relationship now. It doesn’t piss me off. And call me old fashioned or gullible, but I used to get a little mushy inside when Barack would hold Hill’s chair at the debates. At least he was conscious enough to realize that the little gesture of graciousness was called for, for christ sake.

(Speaking of christ, Maher was great on King last night. King was loopy as usual. Best part was near the end when the breaking news came of the Dave Matthews band guy dying. King says: “And he was only 66!” while the screen showed 46, and “he died from complications of a TV accident”.

I’m sorry, but this is the right move for America to make. Russia made an aggressive action that scared the shit out of its neighbors. This is the logical consequence.

Really? Causing a nuclear power that has thousands of city-killer nucs onto a hair trigger to block missles from a country that doesn’t have nukes nor will have them even in tens years is good for the US? Spending a few billion more American taxpayer dollars to protect an area that has a GDP bigger than us is good?
Were is any of this stupidity good for us? What to ‘hurt Russia over Georgia

Well, that’s all diplomatic bullshit to be sure, but Poland wouldn’t have rolled out the red carpet for our interceptors if Russia hadn’t been so hasty to drive tanks into Gori.

I’m sorry, but this is the right move for America to make. Russia made an aggressive action that scared the shit out of its neighbors. This is the logical consequence.

No, this isn’t the right move. I’m not opposed to doing things that piss off the Russians per se. I’m opposed to doing things that piss off the Russians pointlessly. Installing a missile defense system that doesn’t work is pointless. Personally, I’d also draw the line at NATO admittance to the countries already in. Ukraine, maybe at some time in the indefinite future, but they have to settle their border dispute with the Russians first.

    Laura W Says:

You know, their relationship has been on my muddled mind since yesterday when I saw two clips of them together, perhaps from yesterday. She’s got her right arm in the sling, and they are disembarking a plane. She’s grabbing onto the rail with her left hand and to my eyes (and I watched this very carefully twice), he is doing nothing at all to assist or ensure her safety. The next scene is in a diner and he is already seated at the table while she tries to pull her chair up behind her as she seats herself, with one hand. Is she dead to him or what? How classless can the man be? (that can be rhetorical.)

Trollop and c**t episodes aside, every time I look at Cindy I just know that to some degree she is on the receiving end of a good amount of emotional and verbal abuse from her hot-tempered, mean-mouthed old Maverick. Did anyone follow the link to the “he” VP story? Some CBS reporter made a big deal out of Obama using the “he” pronoun when describing his VP. But when he said “he”, Obama was clearly referring to Cheney, as in “he won’t run my foreign policy.” So some idiot apparently thinks this means he has a man in mind for VP. Oy.

This is how you treat someone who doesn’t do what the party needs done. Harry Reid, take note.
CA Assemblywoman Nicole Parra (D-Hanford) refused to vote for the budget unless it included a water bond for the November election.

Parra hasn’t been reassigned to more cramped quarters in the Capitol itself – but booted straight across the street to the Legislative Office Building. She will be the only member of the Legislature whose office is not housed in the Capitol.

No, this isn’t the right move. I’m not opposed to doing things that piss off the Russians per se. I’m opposed to doing things that piss off the Russians pointlessly.

You think it’s pointless and so does anyone with an ounce of sense — because you start with the premise that it’s about a missile system and what stands to be gained by the US.

It isn’t about the missle system, so it doesn’t matter whether it works or not. And it isn’t about what’s good for the US, either.

It’s about the political advantage the Bushies can give to McCain, and what benefit can be made of it by the GOP.

Risking war with Russia over something that doesn’t work when we have no military capacity to back up our position is exactly what a Bushie would consider doing if they thought their party could benefit from it, even if doing so would be pointless or even reckless for the country.

It’s pointless and unnecessary risk for our country, but not for the GOP.

It’s pointless and unnecessary risk for our country, but not for the GOP.

Yup, not for the War Party! They live to see others die in wars that they start, and if they can leverage that into continued control of our country then all the better in their view. I hope the McCain/draft reinstatement sticks with some people. That woman was right, if they keep thrashing our military to death they will not have anyone to go after Osama Bin Forgotten unless they reinstate the draft.

If parents (especially ones on the right) think that they or their children are going to have to fight this fight and possibly die, you can bet support for McCain would dry up in a flash. The only reason Bu$h had initial support for this war is because most people did not have to worry because their child was not serving in the military. You can bet that the support for the war in Iraq would have been far less if it was to be true ‘shared sacrifice’ on the part of ALL Americans.

The GOP has been gaming the system for years now, and people are getting tired of it. Are they tired enough? We will find out this fall. If they vote McCain in, then we deserve the disaster that will surely follow.
