Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

The willow is too close to the house.

A lot of Dems talk about what the media tells them to talk about. Not helpful.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Let’s finish the job.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

Despite his magical powers, I don’t think Trump is thinking this through, to be honest.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Today’s GOP: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Take your GOP plan out of the witness protection program.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

We still have time to mess this up!

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

This post is in: Did You Know John McCain Was A POW?

FacebookTweetEmail

A noun, a verb, and POW.

*** Update ***

I am officially sick of the Clinton drama. Now I am hearing Obama is to fault because he did not seek Hillary’s advice on a VP. SLAP IN DA FACE!

*** Update #2 ***

I am not sure what this says about me, but with the Flying Spaghetti Monster as my witness, I had no idea that Biden wore hair plugs until Sullivan mentioned them. Then again, I worked with someone for ten years without realizing someone wore a wig until someone said something (I thought she just got her hair done a lot). I guess I really just suck at paying attention to that sort of stuff.

*** Update #3 ***

From the comments, an alternate working slogan for Obama/Biden:

Obama/Biden ’08: Two House, Two Spouses

the more ramblings Clinton & Co. get into, the more apparent it is why she lost and shouldn’t have been Pres., there seems to be a certain arrogance and entitlement still rampant with supporters,….. almost Republican in nature…..

Nothing will make the Clintonites happy. Over on TalkLeft, BTD* is now claiming that the VP rollout has been an “utter disaster”, because somehow having the media repeat the credentials of three or four potential choices over and over and over again for a couple of weeks is a bad thing.

I haven’t seen anyone bring out the “slap in the face” phrase except as a joke, but I’m sure it’s there.

    * Not actually a Clintonite. He’s an Obama supporter. Really. And, of course, he speaks only for himself.

on Morning Joe this morning, Joe, Mika, Mike Barnacle, and John Hardwood were openly laughing at Hillary, when talking about her official statement re: Biden, and how this is the first time she didn’t call Obama her “opponent.” Harwood said she’d probably still be calling him that at Obama’s inaugural.

Like McCain’s POW thing, the Hillary dead-enders have beaten this thing so hard its now an open joke on MSNBC. well played, PUMAs!

I didn’t think you wore hair plugs. I thought you got them, like you got a facelift.

And speaking of plugs, I’m afraid that BTD is a butt plug, a bag o’ shite to me. I got banned there back in the spring for pointing out Clinton agreed not to PARTICIPATE in Michigan and Florida primaries. How dare I! So Talkleft is dead to me. Too bad. The lady who runs it occasionally had interesting legal topics I’d comment on. But it’s just a reservoir of Clinton deadenders now. I suspect that when the Great Declassifier opens the books we will find out that the Clintons have been assets for the intelligence community all along, from Hillary’s intern work for the Black Panthers law firm in the sixties and Bill’s anti-war protesting on his Rhodes scholarship, through Bill looking the other way while the CIA flew cocaine into Mena, and their time in the White House when the Echelon Program was put into place and FISA was bulked up and the big corporations got their media takeovers and trade agreements, through this Presidential race. Hillary’s got way too many friends with CIA pedigrees.

    Just saying.

I like Sullivan’s take at the end of his post

Not an inspired choice, in my book. But smart and solid – and adult.

Exactly. That is another striking difference between McSame and Obama’s campaigns. Obama’s is adult and his choices are adult.

Yeah, I kinda just have TL on the links out of courtesy, because I do like Jeralynn as a person, but BTD has ruined her site. I have not read them in months, as there is no point. TChris is the only reason to go there, and with all the smart folks out there, that is not reason enough anymore.

Fascinating. Went over to RedState to see just what flavor of Stupid they were serving up this morning. While they didn’t disappoint (currently on top: Why Obama == Bush), what I found most amusing was that the top 4 front page posts had a grand total of 13 comments between them.

For those keeping track at home, that’s roughly the same number as this thread right now (and this thread is still growing), and about 1/10 as many comments as a dKos diary consisting of a bunch of cat photos and a silly McCain limerick.

RedState is hardly the worst of the rightwing scream-o-sphere. FreeRepublic is pretty bad (think RedState with more posters and worse grammar). Then there are all of the individual bloggers, some of whom are pretty vile. The worst I’ve dealt with is a nut who calls himself Vox Day, who writes (or used to write) for WorldNetDaily. If you’ve got a strong stomach, this and this are a pair of dkos diaries I wrote about one of his “special” moments, where he quite literally called for a Final Solution to the immigrant problem. No, that’s not hyperbole.

I was a Clinton supporter during the primary, but I have to agree that BTD is a complete douchebag. Its really a shame because Jeralyn is an interesting blogger. It’s worth reading her posts, but she is screwing herself by letting BTD fuck up her blog. It’s not just that he is an asshole, he is stupid too.

I hope McInsane (R-Idiot) picks Mittens. The new GOP slogan will have something to do with providing more reasons for the shrinking middle class to vote against their interests and vote for those that haven’t had foreclosure on their twenty houses, golf carts, and the promise of reviving the plummeting economy if only another war could begin soon to put the unemployed back to work making munnitions, planes, tanks, and ships. There’s a whole lot of world resources yet to be taken by “Merkin military might… (or “might’ not).
In case I didn’t mention it yet, Obama’s choice of Biden was an excellent move. EXCELLENT!

but I have to agree that BTD is a complete douchebag

The Daily Kos daily feature “Cheers and Jeers” spun off its own Yahoo group called the CnJ Cafe. One of the regulars, PhillyGal, who had a special animus for Armando, coined a phrase, wherein one poster would say, for example, “it’s 11:39AM…” and one of the others would finish, “…and Armando’s still an asshole.”

    Good times.

Obama/Biden ‘08: Two House, Two Spouses

But according to Neil Cavuto this morning, Biden’s both Obama and Biden’s houses are each worth more than $1 million (insert Austin Powers snicker here), and his team is working to find out how many bedrooms the Biden house has and whether or not the value includes that of the guest house that houses HIS MOTHER.
I mean, this stuff would be hilarious even if 2004’s “Kerry married for money/is a gigolo”/”Kerry has a bunch of big houses”/”Kerry’s war injuries were self-inflicted in hopes of benefiting a future political career” were not so fresh in my memory. Comic…gold.

You’re only just now sick of it? What are you made of, titanium?

This is why I’ve been saying for months that there is no reason to make nice to the shrieking asshole contingent of Hillary supporters (rodents humpers included). Once someone suggests voting for John McCain will strike a blow for women’s rights you know that person is so far gone there’s nothing to do but point and laugh.

If I were part of the Obama team, I’d be doing some research – if my suspicions are correct, I’d have a nice little bombshell to drop a couple of days after the Republican convention.

The McCains spent $270,000 on household staff for one house. Were all of those employees citizens or legal immigrants?

What about the staff at the other residences?

Three spouses. Biden’s first wife was killed in a car crash.

What a coincidence! So was McCain’s.

OK, she wasn’t killed, but she got turned into an uggo. And in a lot of ways, isn’t being married to an ugly chick worse than having your wife and infant son killed? Vote McCain!

It’s not insensitivity, it’s accuracy. (And it’s why they wouldn’t use that slogan.) Normal people (i.e., not Cindy McCain) don’t tend to erase family members from their bio when running for office. It’s not like Biden doesn’t know his wife (and daughter) died.

KRK’s right. Biden’s been married twice. It’s unfortunate the way it happened, but that doesn’t mean that his first wife never existed. The slogan’s catchy, but it’ll never see the light of day outside the blogs.

I claim the authorship of “Noun verb POW” :)

5 weeks ago, in reponse to the question, how do you describe John McCain in three words.

There’s another problem with the “two houses two spouses” slogan: Obama of course has an apartment in DC, he can’t commute like Biden does. Maybe rented, but it’s still a bit too inaccurate.

Hmmmm. Very interesting. Inquiring minds want to know.

Household staff, like hotel staff and restaurant staff, tend to be immigrants. Legal immigrants? In Arizona?

It would be really swell to find out in October that John and Cindy have been using illegal Mexicans to clean up after them.
