Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

Lick the third rail, it tastes like chocolate!

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

Republicans in disarray!

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

The revolution will be supervised.

the 10% who apparently lack object permanence

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Yes, I know the site has sucked lately.

Yes, I am doing something about it. I will be moving to a new server in the near future.

No, multiple comments informing me the site sucks are not helpful.

No, I do not feel the need to run a fundraiser, but if you want to donate, the buttons are in the same place they have always been.

Yes, I am sick of hearing about how much the site sucks.

Did I mention I am working on it?

So how long before rumors of Cindy being jilted as John is spotted coming out of Palin’s Hotel room are front page news in the Enquirer?

I could donate some time to look at the problems or help with the server move, if it would help. I’ve worked for a web host and dealt with these sort of issues before to some extent

I don’t know if anyone’s told you, but your site has sucked lately. Seriously though, I went to the fever swamp of the Hillary dead end site corrente wire. Part of an actual comment there:

Also, the borderline misogyny, straight form Obama’s campaign, is starting already:

    Obama spokesman Bill Burton:

Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.

And here is some from a Dem who isn’t part of Obama’s campaign:

A Democratic operative unaffiliated with the Obama campaign rolls out an early line on Palin: “Geraldine Quayle.”

Hey, it could be worse. You need a new server because of increased traffic. There are many blogs proprietors out there who would give their left nut for such problems.

Besides, if we didn’t love you so much, we wouldn’t whine, we’d just go elsewhere. We may be blistering pains in the ass, but at least we’re loyal, no?

    John,
You could always become a blogger at West Virginia Blue, and get a tenth of the comments, which since moving from BOS to Blue I’ve found leaves me with a lot more time to do other things. In other words, there’s an upside to have a less popular site. Join us. ;)

Can we still talk about Sarah Palin because I think that it’s important to get some issues out. She thinks that it is okay to teach creationism along with evolution. She thinks that if you are raped, it’s okay if you carry the fetus to term, even if you don’t. She thinks that if you relative rapes you, it’s okay if you carry the fetus to term, even if you don’t. She gave a great rotary club speech today but I sure hope that it doesn’t play in Peoria. Oh, and by the way John thanks for your good posts. I don’t think that you will be going back to the repub party anytime soon.

John, I work for GoGrid, a cloud-hosting ISP. Unlike dedicated server hosting, with cloud hosting you don’t have to worry about hardware. Also, you can scale-up your website to several dozen servers with load balancers in a couple minutes if your traffic starts to spike (say, due to a Kos hat tip), and then scale it back down to one or two servers when the traffic settles. Either one would take a week or more with dedicated servers. It’s billed on the utility model – you only pay for the processing cycles you use, you’re not paying to have a bunch of servers sitting around waiting, just in case you might need them (that’s a waste of money and power).

Google “benefits of cloud server hosting” and take a read. You should think twice before chaining yourself to another dedicated server that may turn out to be crap.

OT, but that’s interesting, TiSF. What are your QOS and availability guarantees? I work for another company which operates a lot of cloud based services, and we find that guaranteed availability is something customers worry about…

Did I mention that WordPress sucks

I just started using for the first time at my latest gig, at Art Of The Possible and I have to say I’m finding the platform a little clunky to work with. It does stuff I don’t ask it to do and I’m not finding it intuitive to use at all.

I seem to remember a bunch of highly critical posts concerning Comcast, as well as a few “Comcast Cares” responses proving someone saw them. I also seem to recall this being closely aligned with the server issues. Just sayin’.

We only whine because we luv-luv-luv to get here and read all your pithy and insightful smack-downs of various ass-hats, phoneys, bastards, etc., and the wide variety of off-the-wall, hysterical, on-point comments your growing audience invariably post – and, of course, your often on-the-mark assessments of people and deeds that are noteworthy in the positive sense.

Hmmm…RonnieRoo said all that much-much more succinctly. Oh well, I never said I wasn’t long-winded.

With that in mind I must mention that for the very first time I noticed a small section in the local Ralph’s market with “Hola Fruita” products in it when I was out shopping last night. I don’t know if they carried it before, but I had never noticed it and never would have considered trying it had you not mentioned it many times in the past. I ended up eating a whole quart of the stuff over the course of the evening. Great stuff – and I didn’t even get sick.

The site content is great. The infrastructure is the suckiest suck that ever sucked a suck.

    Why? Shut up, that’s why.

Only because you’re tired of hearing about it.

Anyway, keep fighting the good fight. Remember, software doesn’t fail, people with software fail. ;)

The only thing that sucks is that your hosting service doesn’t have enough bandwidth. More than half of the time I come here, I can’t access the site.

This doesn’t take “working on it,” it takes a call to a hosting company and an email to your Webmaster. One, two, DONE! Hell, I can do it for you. “Working on it” is the excuse of an idiot, don’t use it.

This isn’t a complaint, more like an accusation.

Why is it during one of the best days for Obama and worst for McCain things go so horribly sucky?

The only logical assumption is that you’ve sabotaged the site to deny us this news.

How much are they paying you John? How much?!?!

the site is not sucking this minute. First time all day…. I’m saying it’s (momentarily) not sucking, so you can’t whine that I’m whining about it sucking.

Did you see the names of Sarah Palin’s kids? Track (and the rumor is he was named that because of track season) Piper, Willow, Trig, and Bristol. Guess which three are gurlz. And Trig, the four month old, is the one alleged to have made all the changes on her wiki site. I’d link but as usual, I’m lazy and most of the comments I’ve tried to make her all week have never shown up because this site sucks.
