This post is in: Election 2008, Did You Know John McCain Was A POW?

FacebookTweetEmail

Let’s kick off this convention right with an action alert from Red State:

As you know, the magazine Us Weekly will hit news stands this coming weekend with a hit job on Governor Sarah Palin.

Though Us Weekly claims that its coverage is very balanced, its cover features Governor Palin holding a baby with the headline “Babies, Lies, and Scandal.”

US Weekly, which has been a promotional vehicle for Senator Obama’s campaign, is in the tank for Barack Obama and will stop at nothing to ruin Governor Palin’s reputation.

Please consider doing this: When you go to the grocery story this week, pick up a couple of copies of Us Weekly and deposit them on the shelves where the toilet paper is located.

Killing me.

7:10 pm- Did they just say McCain is going to speak for 50 minutes? Kill me now.

7:33 pm- Watching the Skins. Someone IM me if anything interesting happens at the convention. Or just document it in the comments.

7:35 pm- This is the Palin Bio Video we “missed” last night because Rudy could not shut up. BSG was the better choice.

That was officially the worst bio video I have ever seen. Someone count the number of times moose hunter was mentioned.

And then get prosecuted by the grocery store chain for shoplifting. Silly conservatives!

Dear Redstate: if you don’t like your candidates getting vetted by the celebrity mags, you shouldn’t be selecting said candidates from the Jerry Springer shows.

I love the idea! Please do. Please distribute the magazine far and wide, throughout the store and beyond! Put it by the milk! By the fabric softener! By the apples! Put it in as many high-visibility places as possible!

Buy copies and give them to your friends to wrap fish in!

Please play Johnny Appleseed to this damning article or else someone might miss it! What if there’s no line at the register?!

I read they are re-doing the stage so that it has a Town Hall feel…

Here’s a crazy idea. What if he’s not going to hold a proper speech, but a town hall meeting? Obviously scripted to hell, but they are going to argue that he doesn’t know any of the questions beforehand.

Would give him some cover for some questions and answers. (Not really, but they are going to argue that)

    Totally lifted from Swampland:

Fiscal year 2008 was the first year for which there was a complete listing of all earmarks contained in all appropriation bills. That information was loaded into several databases, including the one developed by Taxpayers for Common Sense. According to that data, the average state got about $50 per person in earmarked funds in 2008. Alaska, represented by Ted Stevens, the Senate’s earmarker-in-chief, got $506 per person—about 10 times the national average. Wasilla between 2000 and 2003 was getting well over $1,000 per person—twice the Alaska state average in 2008.

    Emphasis mine.

The only thing McCain’s military service shows me is that he was sixth worst performer out of a class of almost 900, that he was too busy being a troublemaker to learn how to fly a plane, that he was proficient in crashing planes and that he knows how to get captured by the enemy.

You were right, I give you props for that. But when we landed in the water, I said we should quickly roll up the windows to keep the water out and you replied we should roll them down and try to get out. My car, my automatch windows, so I rolled them up. *cackles wisely* So, I was right, rolling up the windows kept the water out and now you won’t admit I was right and you were wrong. Why won’t you admit you were wrong, Mister Obama???

I’m not sure if you’re posting this to show she’s not serious, but if you are, let me say that she’s probably downplaying her potential involvement to make sure that (a) she doesn’t overshadow Obama with the garbage stories about the alleged rift between them and/or (b) they downplay expectations, so that when she does campaign for him, it looks like she is enthusiastic.

The first attack occurred in Iran. Four hundred and forty four days. America held hostage. Then again and again at our embassies, our Navy. They grew ever more bold. Their call was “on those who believe in God and hopes for reward to obey God’s command to kill Americans. And kill us they did. This time on American soil. The date was September 11, Nine Eleven.

Could someone who understands polls explain how this and this could be describing the same country?

Interesting. It appears from those pools that Barr would pull support from Obama more than it would from McCain.

No, it means there are limited polls out there covering 3rd parties, and those aren’t correlating with the polls that exclude 3rd parties.

IOW, ignore the 3rd party polls for now – they’re shitty. What’s more, ignore national polls now and forever – they’re about as useful as predicting the outcome of the election on the regularity of each candidates’ bowel movements.

Don’t you think Cindy’s looking over @ Sarah Palin and recalling how Johnny Boy threw over his disabled, unattractive [in his eyes] wife for someone cuter, younger & richer?

And the fact that Palin nabs two of those three items . . .

John, how long must we wait before you have a category “Did you know Sarah Palin was a moose hunter?”

Oh, yeah, and thank goodness for Sarah Palin — MOOSEHUNTER.

I wasn’t aware that moose posed a threat to national security, but now that I know Sarah’s got us covered, I can sleep again.

Q: What percentage of moose are Islamic terrorists?

And I don’t want to hear that they’re all Moose-lims.

The thing about the Palin bio film is that when it talks about her early morning moose hunts, the picture shown is a caribou.

I read through all these comments to see if anyone else had noticed the dead ungulate in the picture that appeared as the voiceover spoke of “moose hunting” was quite obviously a non-moose. And I didn’t find one until the very last comment. Damn.
