Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

The real work of an opposition party is to hold the people in power accountable.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Our messy unity will be our strength.

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

It’s all just conspiracy shit beamed down from the mothership.

Republicans in disarray!

I have other things to bitch about but those will have to wait.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

You cannot love your country only when you win.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Bad people in a position to do bad things will do bad things because they are bad people. End of story.

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Congrats, folks. We broke the 40k mark, so, as usual, I pulled the rug out from under you all and changed the goal to 60k.

Goal Thermometer

Somewhat related:

Sen. Barack Obama broke his monthly fundraising record of $55 million in August, sources said today, but the campaign remains tight lipped about its total haul.

The numbers aren’t scheduled to be made public until Sept. 20, when the campaign files its August finance reports with the Federal Election Commission. But top fundraisers for the campaign wanted to downplay a report in today’s New York Times suggesting Obama’s vaunted money-raising team has been struggling to meet its goals.

Good.

I think more people would donate if we could replace the green thermometer with some kind of pig. Maybe one with lipstick on it.

. . . the campaign remains tight lipped about its total haul.

They’ll announce the numbers at the right moment to make McCain look like he’s running a national campaign on lemonade stand revenues.

I’m not giving another red cent until they give me a bumper sticker!

Anything else is just wrapping a fish in paper and calling it a bumper sticker.

Is anybody seeing ads for Pajamas that isn’t a PajamasTV ad? I don’t think I’ve seen anything but for the past month.

Ok, other than the ads for WordPress errors, I suppose. :-)

One more thing. What’s McCain thinking running around accusing everyone of sexism?

Doesn’t he realize that we already fought this battle? We’re battle hardened and experienced.

With McCain being such an asshole, I may end up contributing the limit to Obama. McDickhead has not only sold his soul to the devil, but he’s sold his children’s.

There you go, John, moving the goalposts again.
    Hillary would be proud…

i had a hard time getting here today (due to the technical problem that dare not be mentioned) but was persistent and now have been rewarded with a thermometer post….just what i was seeking! i had never given money online before but will be doing it again in oct and nov.

regarding the idiocy that is our presidential race, all i can say is “teh stoopid, it burns.”

Today has been so depressing in terms of political news that I donated in the hope that it would actually change something. There is nothing like a little depression to cause the irrational spending of money.

At least if McCain gets elected it wont be because I didn’t try to help.

I just donated through your page because Obama’s had an annoying auto-playing video on it.

OH NO THE ANNOYING VIDEO WILL DOOM US ALL. DOOOOOM.
