Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

Anne Laurie is a fucking hero in so many ways. ~ Betty Cracker

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

How stupid are these people?

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Books are my comfort food!

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

You are either for trump or for democracy. Pick one.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

You are so fucked. Still, I wish you the best of luck.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Today’s gop: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

The “burn-it-down” people are good with that until they become part of the kindling.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Straight Talk Express, Klondike Edition

This post is in: Election 2008, Lies, Damned Lies, and Sarah Palin, Did You Know John McCain Was A POW?

FacebookTweetEmail

Sarah Palin, July 2008, discussing the firing of Walter Monegan:

I’ve said all along, hold me accountable.

Walter Monegan, September 2008, discussing his firing:

“She’s not telling the truth when she told ABC neither she nor her husband pressured me to fire Trooper Wooten,” said Walt Monegan, the Alaskan official whose dismissal by Sarah Palin is the focus of a state investigation known as “Troopergate”. “And she’s not telling the truth to the media about her reasons for firing me.”

Sarah Palin, September 2008:

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will not cooperate with a legislative inquiry into her firing of an Alaska official, her campaign said, labeling the probe “partisan.”

Spokesman Ed O’Callaghan said Monday the investigation had become “tainted” by Democratic state lawmakers targeting Palin, the governor of Alaska who Republican White House hopeful John McCain chose as his running mate late last month.

She is going to fit right in.

*** Update ***

They are worried. The McCain campaign is firmly behind her defense now, and are trumping up charges of insubordination against Monegan after the fact, and then circulating the coverage, as this email to the Politico’s Ben Smith from campaign flack Brian Rogers demonstrates:

They are scared to death of this, and you should ask yourself why.

The probe is partisan? The investigation was unanimously approved by a Republican-controlled legislature.

I’d place the odds of this thing being covered truthfully by the MSM at about a million to one against.

Goddamn, I need to take a trip to Vegas or play the lottery or something.

    I called this last night.

I’d like to say “damn, I’m good”, but really, this was just a little too predictable.

Of course she won’t testify. It’s a matter of National Security she not be subjected to any questions that might show her as a crooked republican. How is she going to smite terrorist devils if she has to follow dumb laws. Just ask GWB, he knows how the world works and that don’t include no lego mumbo jumbo.

Hopefully she’ll fit right in all the way back to Juneau, where she will become as relevant as Geraldine Ferraro has been for the last 24 years.

    Of course she won’t testify

At first she would, but not under oath. Must be a Republican thang to insist on being allowed to lie without having any repercussions involved.

The problem with Palin is that she has not accumulated enough power to silence these people. They’re coming forward in droves.

The investigation was unanimously approved by a Republican-controlled legislature.

Better yet, last week the committee that had to decide whether to subpoena people voted on the subject. Because the Republicans control the committee it would not be able to pass unless at least one Republican voted with the Dems (the committee is 2 to 3). One Republican defected, the guy who represents Palin’s hometown. Doesn’t that tell you something?

I posted about this last night in another thread, basically stating that nobody should get their hopes up about the legislators actually growing a pair and going after Palin on this one. I’ll be very surprised if they try to subpoena her.

They don’t want to be seen as the ones who brought Alaska’s little moosehuntress down. There’d be a bloodbath for the folks on the probe.

She is proving her political chops to the base. I do find it a bit odd how her political chops didn’t develop until McCain selected her. One minute she is cooperating with the investigation (and just a governor) and the next she is stonewalling and claiming it is a partisan witch hunt (and she is now a veep and a governor!).

Little Sarah is growin’ up. Pretty soon she might even be able to walk on her own. That will surely be a sight to see. Keep the cameras handy as I am sure that the photos will be priceless.

The problem with Palin is that she has not accumulated enough power to silence these people. They’re coming forward in droves.

And there’s a lot of Alaska republican bigwigs that don’t like her, my guess, the more her numbers are tumbling down, the more you will hear from them. It’s their chance of getting her out of their ways…

Palin might have been great for the republicans in a couple of years, but she wasn’t ripe for picking and now it looks more and more like she’s going to be ruined.

I’m not going to complain about that though.

Speaking of straight talk, and I shit you not, I am not making this up, but Steve Benen at Washington Monthy is linking to a Politico peice where one of McCain’s people is claiming he helped create the Blackberry.

As a David Axelrod sockpuppet Christian Conservative who now supports Barack Obama, I am outraged that Sarah Palin is swiftboating the man that she illegally fired by releasing classified memos!!!1!!!
Of course rethuglicans Republicans always use the Rovian tactic of releasing confidential/private memos to wrongly deflect from their wrongdoing!!!1!!! Such was the case with the Duke Lacrosse DNA test results or the Jamie Gorelick ‘Wall’ memo released by John Ashcroft!!!1!!!
Peace out. The power is yours.

Off topic, but since in a thread late yesterday we were talking about an appearance of Nouriel Roubini, check out his latest post. Bottom line, he thinks its worse then anytime since the great depression.

Time for an Alaskan to begin Gev. Palin’s recall campaign.

Time for Alaskans to refuse to serve on juries because the Alaskan justice system is tainted.

Time for the legislature to pass legislation that views any email addresses that are used for state business as subject to subpoena.

Time for an Alaskan to begin Gov. Palin’s recall campaign.

“Troopergate” is another TANG memo setup.
Karl Rove leaked this story and had Gov. Palin hide those emails to embarrass those with the journalistic integrity who would follow this story.
If Palin was honest, she would have released those emails when the “Troopergate” first surfaced.

It seems odd that the date of Palin’s non-cooperation aligns with the McPOW pick, did they spot something that she in her ignorance missed? The Cheny/Bush comparisons only beg to be made…
