Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

The willow is too close to the house.

Infrastructure week. at last.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the GOP

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

Tick tock motherfuckers!

A last alliance of elves and men. also pet photos.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

Second rate reporter says what?

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

The republican caucus is already covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

The Alaska Supreme Court put the kaibosh on the Republican attempts to kill the legislature’s investigation into Sarah Palin’s firing of Walter Moneghan:

The Alaska Supreme Court refused to halt an investigation into Governor Sarah Palin’s firing of the state police chief, paving the way for tomorrow’s planned release of the findings.

The Supreme Court dismissed the case brought by five state Republican lawmakers who sought to stop the probe, claiming it was unconstitutional and tainted by partisan politics. The investigation, known as Troopergate, took on national importance after Republican presidential nominee John McCain picked Palin as his running mate.

The Alaska Legislative Council, a bipartisan committee of 14 lawmakers that conducts business when the Legislature isn’t in session, voted unanimously on July 31 to investigate Palin’s July 11 firing of Alaska Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The commissioner said he was dismissed for refusing to fire state trooper Mike Wooten, who was involved in a divorce and custody battle with Palin’s sister.

Tomorrow should be fun.

Is it too late to get this on the SCOTUS docket?

Looks like the McCain campaign’s message is about to change, though I have to give McCain some credit–he’s stuck to a message for more than one or two days now. That’s got to be a friggin’ record for him.

Camp McPOW is going to break the knob on their Distractovision 2000(TM).

What’ll it be, what’ll it be? They could announce the date of Bristol’s wedding. Palin could announce she is pregnant again. And Obama is the father. Maybe they’ll get a death threat from "Someone who sounded like Obama."

The thing is, I’m not sure the MSM (and by that I mean the major networks) accept that this is even a story. You sort of wonder what has to happen there for them to pick it up.

Of course, the economy is tanking, so, you know, that knife cuts both ways I guess.

I don’t think it’s ever too late for emergency actions, especially when the emergency is to keep wingnuts in power. The SCOTUS wingnuts, and we know who they are, have long since quit caring much about their image. It’s all RW ideology all the time. They think they are on a mission to save America from the liberal hordes.

I don’t think this will destroy Palin but what it will do is have the media talking about it for a few days. Then comes the debate. Then a day or two talking about that. So basically, if Obama does well next Wednesday, there will be 2 weeks left for McCain to play with, less if Obama really is buying half hour chunks of prime time.

    Oh I hope it does.

The wingnuts are wingnutty enough that there are plenty of folk who have accepted that 2008 is lost, but are taking solace in the idea of 2012 with Palin at the top of the ticket where she belongs damnit!

With any luck, the information released tomorrow wil make it impossible even for the wingnuttiest republican leadership to make that work.

Nothing to keep them from selecting a new Sarah Palin for 2012, but we need to fight this one Sarah Palin at a time.

Key thing to keep in mind is that two things have to occur for this whole story to be something unlike, say, Fitzmas:

    1) The Legislative Council has to vote to release the report officially.

    2) It actually has to have some meat to it.

Neither are guaranteed, though prospects look good.

Enjoy your pyrrhic moment of triumph, you America Last leftists. Don’t be too dismayed when the tables are turned on you and this partisan witch hunt is revealed for exactly what it is.

Simply put, since Democrats and other hate-filled leftists can’t confront Governor Sarah Palin head on, as such a confrontation only leads to inevitable defeat, you have to find some other way to undermine the righteousness of her cause. Sapping and backstabbing are the left’s favorite tactics, since the politics of personal destruction have been invented by the Democrat Party and refined to nauseating perfection by socialists and America-hating traitors.

When Governor Sarah Palin is vindicated and all these scurrilous accusations are tossed like so much liberal offal, I very much hope that she employs all the powers given to her by the office of the Vice President of the United States of America to root out all her cowardly detractors and leftist traitors alike.

It’s too bad all this is rising to the surface now. Finally some meat on the vetting bones of Bible Spice but it comes with the endgame in play so it competes with the flailing and be called a distraction. It isn’t, of course. After all Obama went through over two years and Palin can slide by with a wink. At least it will create some background noise (that Obama can ignore) and distract the media. I can’t believe I just wrote that, but it’s true.

You can’t be serious. No one can confront Palin head-on because the McCain campaign insists on hiding her away, and only letting her out in front of guaranteed friendly pseudo-journalists. You only see craven behavior such as McCain and Palin in communist countries. Amazing how the Republicans mimic the leftists you claim you don’t like.

Y’know, Atanarjuat, I bet that if she were to become Vice President she would do just that. In fact, as her answer about Cheney in the debates tells us, she’d also grab many of the powers *not* given to her to wreak horrible vengeance on all enemies, real or imagined. But y’see champ, we Americans call that abuse of power, and unlike you we think it is a bad thing.

The link to the Order from the Alaska Supreme Court is as follows: http://www.state.ak.us/courts/media.htm#cases

So far there is only an order affirming the Superior Court. The Order says that an opinion will follow. I will be interested to see whether the opinion is unamimous. Palin appointed one Justice this past January. Three other justices have been on the Court for at least ten years. The Chief Judge recused herself because her husband represents one of the people who received a subpoena.

BTW, certain law professors and legal scholars submitted an amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief in support of the Republican legislators. Interestingly, however, none of these legal eagles were from Alaska. I suspect that Alaskans would not be pleased about out-of-state lawyers telling them how to interpret their state constitution. After reading the brief, I would hope that these law professors would be fired from their teaching positions.

However, I strongly disagree with this: there are no speling erars, no CAPS LOCK, no denigration of sexual/physical characteristics, and no factually inaccurate allegations. My prediction, the report is scathing and damaging, but makes it clear that final conclusions can not be drawn because key witnesses are refusing to comply with the subpoenas.

Exactly the same as the AG/DOJ firings case.

BTW – Now Palin’s exonerating herself – which is the most laughable thing I’ve ever heard of.

Anyone who thinks that Wooten is despicable is buying the bogus characterization the Palin’s are pushing. They had to be admonished to stop their smear campaign by the family court judge who told them their false accusations and constant harassment of Wooten was tantamount to "verbal child abuse".

Various investigations of Wooten and found him guilty of like 1 out of 10 things the Palin’s accused him of, and his suspension was quite brief – indicating there was little substance to what he was accused of.

After the Palin’s smear campaign failed to get Wooten fired – they they try to have Monegan fire Wooten. And after he says, "I can’t legally do that" – they fire Monegan.

It’s after the firing they have come up with,100s of different, contradictory explanations as to why Monegan was fired. You don’t do that when you’re telling the truth. You just don’t.

Sure, Palin wasn’t putting a hit out on Wooten or Monegan – but they have been lying since the divorce proceedings began, and abusing their power for years (this is not the only incident).
