Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Lick the third rail, it tastes like chocolate!

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

“But what about the lurkers?”

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

We are learning that “working class” means “white” for way too many people.

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

I swear, each month of 2025 will have its own history degree.

We still have time to mess this up!

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls 2 years from now.

Beware of advice from anyone for whom Democrats are “they” and not “we.”

Be a wild strawberry.

Welcome to day five of every-bit-as-bad-as-you-thought-it-would-be.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

We do not need to pander to people who do not like what we stand for.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Kids, talk to your parents. Now.

Last debate tonight. This one might be too embarassing to sit through. McCain’s been looking ready for the home on TV lately.

This whole thing with Team McCain telegraphing their punches re: bringing up Ayers at the debate is mind-boggling. It seems Johnny Drama has no choice to bring it up himself if Scheiffer doesn’t raise it. Surely Obama has a ready-made response in any case.

I guess he’s trying to show he’s a tough guy, but when most of the polls are indicating that this kind of thing is turning people off, he looks a lot closer to an idiot.

    @Carnacki:

There would be some sweet justice if Obama/Biden won WV, but I’m very skeptical. Still, the fact that it’s even being discussed is awesome news for John McCain.

@SpotWeld: I have no idea what that means.

@Comrade Jake: Bob Schieffer will be overtly hostile to Obama tonight. His treatment of this campaign has been terrible, and I have been consistently appalled every Sunday morning.

Well, good. As we’ve seen, the more Sen. Obama is attacked, the better he looks, and his favorability rating only rises. If Schieffer and McCain are both hammering on him, he’ll look like the only positive, realistic, calm, responsible adult in the room.

    I hope.

"Moggy" is a (mosly UK) nickname for a cat.
It was a (perhaps poor) atttempt on my part to equate you to a little old lady to like to talk about her kitties.

Isn’t that kind of what happened with the last debate when whats-his-name kept barking at Obama about the time but let McCain ramble? I do agree that Obama can more than hold his own in a 2-on-1 situation. He’s the champ.

I thought Moggy was Austalian – a folk singer- can’t recall who- had a song about a road-killed kitty with the lines

    "He’s nobody’s Moggy
He’s red and squashed and soggy
    And he’s nobody’s Moggy anymore"

I did a double take when I saw your cat. He/she/it is an almost exact clone of my 7 1/2 year old tabby, Scooter (not named after Libby!) Same markings same g-normous gut same sleeping position, same expression.

Felt as though there’d been a catnapping. Oh, but there is a cat napping, LOL

Like Kritter, I thought my cat had been catnapped too. I can’t find any immediate evidence to prove the pictured kitteh is not my Hitchcock. Right down to the M for Moggy they’re virtually identical.
