Real America wants to know, what’s up with the line on this game?

One comment in 30 minutes? I think not. I blame Colin Powell.

It’s yinz, man, comeon…

Go, Niners!
The worst outcome today would be the Niners actually winning, which would only delay the ritual decapitation of Mike Nolan, the necessary step to restoring the Niners to its rightful place among the elite of the NFL.

this is pretty funny

The Moar You Know
Boy, I do not like to burst the bubble of a fellow Niners fan, but until the ownership gets changed, they’ll never be anything but a one-playoff and out team, at best. The Yorks have no commitment to excellence or winning.
ThymeZoneThePlumber
Forty Niner fan from the days of John Brodie. From the days when, as Lon Simmons would say, the Niners were really in trouble mostly when they had the ball …. their ineptitude was memorable.
Then came Montana and Walsh, and then Young, and the glory years.
Ya gotta take the bad with the good.

It varies. Right in the city, it’s yinz but I’ve heard yuns and you-ins in other parts of central-to-western PA.

Well, this is football related and I think should be viewed by everyone.

Lane Clownshoes asks:
Since they at Redstate have already "blammed" my account for posting political opinion – without abuse I might add – I’d rather comment here where John won’t censor me.
Moe: Perhaps your side might be doing better had your candidate not engaged in an open smear campaign. You guys
have both misread the electorate – and what we need from a candidate right now, regardless of party – as well as having misread just what blogging meant to campaigning limits. What I mean by that second point is that with blogging now reacting to campaign statements faster than the 24 hour news cycle, campaigns are unable to claim false statements for a news cycle and have it blow over within 72 hours when the next event takes precedence. And the reason for that is because bloggers are fact-checking and calling you guys on your shit before reporters even consider performing that aspect of their jobs.
IOW: You can’t spin the editorial slant of blogs; you can’t prevent immediate fact-checks by bloggers; you can’t prevent individuals from bringing cameras and other technology to record events live and broadcast them over the Internet. As a result you can’t saturate the professional and television media with lies – that would have in the past been ignored due to the need for news organizations to focus on new events instead of fact-checking old statements.
The Republican Party is not just going to have to change policy platforms. It’s time to toss Lee Atwater and his prodigies, because their "skills" at "managing the media" (lying through their teeth without it being considered relevant) are now worthless to electioneering.
Karl: Time to find an honest job. You might want to finish up that Bachelor’s Degree. I hear it’s pretty tough to find a professional job without one.

Douchebag Limbaugh plays the race card again. Will McCain repudiate Limbaugh’s statements or keep whining about the statement of American Civil Rights hero Congressman John Lewis?
Limbaugh is a dick

It seems a bit unfair to force a struggling Division II college football team to play against the Steelers.
Josh Huaco
Did anyone see the Chargers-Bills game? I guess the stadium’s electricity went out in the first half. How did they keep time? Do the refs have stopwatches? Kitchen timer in the scorer’s booth?
zak
I want Ward fined for excessive teeth.
Unrepentent Dennis - SGMM
I blame the Chargers’ loss on the fact that gay marriage in California has sapped and polluted their precious bodily fluids.
The Grand Panjandrum
@Colonel Danite:
And a very limp one at that.
@Unrepentent Dennis – SGMM: That certainly explains why the QB spends so much time with his hand in the centers crotch. It also explains why I rarely go to the gym any more. All those good looking men in workout clothes would just be too much. How would my wife and kids support themselves if "the gays" ruined my marriage?
I got so wrapped up in the race at Martinsville I forgot to watch the reigning Super Bowl Champs whup the Niners.

Da Steelers coach can suck my ass for pulling my fantasy QB n allowing Bryan Sammich to chuck that final TD. If I lose by 6 or fewer, i’ll b livid

That’s the kind of snark that put Laugh Out Loud in LOL.

@Josh Huaco:
WTF is it with the Chargers and power outages? They opened the season in Houston a few years back and the power went out in the middle of the game then as well (in Reliant Stadium, which is named for Reliant Energy, which is… a power company).
BTW Texans are playing the Lions right now. My god Detroit is an awful football team. They may seriously go 0-16.

What? My cats aren’t cute enough for you?
If you don’t post the picture of my cats, I’m going to vote for McCain!

Wow, it’s painful to be a Bengals fan right about now. But, there’s always a silver lining… #1 DRAFT PICK, BABY! Aim high and reach for the stars, my beloved Bengals!
It’s hard to like you today, John. Grrrrr. :-)

Another reason to love this blog! I was making cold calls today for the Bam campaign and all the residents were in Pitt.
Between getting hung up on and getting to talk with potential voters, I was wondering how much HURT James Harrison was bringing to Cincy. Was a good day all around – despite interacting with some grim McPalinbots.

FSM bless vote by mail. In Oregon we got our ballots yesterday; I already sent mine back. Paper trail, no touch screens, no Diebold, no chads, no butterflies, no nonsense.
Choices for prez were listed in this order:
At the top, Nader (I’d prefer him at the nadir); second, McKinney (for the Pacific Green Party, is there an Atlantic Green Party?); third, McCain; fourth, Barr; fifth, Baldwin (Constitution Party); and B.O. last but not least.
The Grand Panjandrum
So what happened to all those Clinton supporters who said our Messiah & MUP couldn’t possibly EVAH withstand the withering critique? I am really looking forward to election day.

I know where goatboy is, but whatever happened to p.huk?
Comrade Scrutinizer
@Soylent Green:
I kinda got the impression that Goatboy was more an Obama supporter hater than anything else.
Man, that Confluence place is a sewer. And Hillaryis44 is all McCain, all the time. Those people are the VC to the Republican Party’s PAVN.

@Comrade Scrutinizer: Gone for good I hope!! Maybe he changed names. There have been a few comments lately that sound like his former ones, especially the nice long defensive rants. John must be celebrating his team’s victory.

Anybody watching the Jets-Raiders? This is brutal. Can’t CBS pre-empt it for Heidi or something?
ThymeZoneThePlumber
Unsolicited plug?
So far, my recent upgrade to Opera 9.6 gives me the best results I have had so far with BJ 3.0. Fast, no problems. No BSOD at 177 comments.
No hiccups and delays at loading a long thread. Just click on the thread and go. Nice.

Same here. I loaded Opera 9.6 to get around the BSOD and it works very well on my Win2K machine.
Svensker
They didn’t need to. Heidi was out there playing for the Jets — and she got the team MVP, to boot.
Keerikey, some games are just too much for a body to bear. Favre — he of the back-foot interception pass — said it was the most disheartening game he’d ever played.

4-1 in my fantasy player leagues. 0-2 in my pick ’em ones. I’ll say that’s a pretty good ‘kend.

@ThymeZoneThePlumber: I’ve been using Opera myself, since the BSoC started. I miss NoScript and AdBlock, though. I assume I can find Opera equivalents, but I don’t have a lot of time right now to look.
Anyone use the torrent downloader in Opera?
Unrepentent Dennis - SGMM
I’m just a casual football fan. Still the Jets/Raiders outcome just seems wrong. The freakin’ Chargers beat the Raiders in their last outing. And what’s with the Cowboys losing (badly) to the Lambs?
Bob In Pacifica
Well, the Niners did lose, there was no ritual decapitation of Nolan, and, yes, John and Denise York would be next in line for the guillotine.
Alas, after the revolution….

OK, so can this little intersection between sports and politics is hilarious: Wayne Huizenga is planning on selling the Dolphs if…no kidding…Obama wins the election.

Between Mad King Jerry and Wade the Pooh I don’t know who to blame more for the developing Cowboy implosion. As a fan I’m just glad it’s coming early this year instead of December.
Unrepentent Dennis - SGMM
Is this a particularly bad year for teams losing their starting QB’s? If so, how will this affect the playoffs?
Will Hunting
I rode Big Ben, Marshawn Lynch, Ryan Grant and the Ravens D to a much needed win today.
Dennis – a lot of good qbs out this year. This is a crazy year. We might see one team (the Titans) ride a lights out D all the way to the Super Bowl. I still like my NY football Giants though. I think the Cowpokes are toast. Too much drama, not enough toughness.
John Cole’s beloved Steelers look pretty solid. They win that division going away…

Oh yeah I forgot to give a shout out to the #1 team in college football: your Texas Longhorns. I see a Texas Penn St. title game. No way Bama goes undefeated. PSU will though.
John – Slaton rocks. Great pick up by the Texans. My slacker brother is in Morgantown and looking for a WVU rebound next year. Not feeling it myself…

Yes. I’m not a fan, it’s one of the few things in Opera I don’t love. Use BitTornado instead.

This should be of interest to any Steelers fan:

Meanwhile, Wayne Huizenga is selling the Dolphins because he wants to get out before an Obama presidency. From what I understand about Huizenga’s popularity in southern Florida, I can’t help but think this anti-endorsement is only going to help Senator Obama in the Miami area.

keeping pace with the Steelers, and two games up on their division!

Totally OT. This is fairly not safe for work, but I thought you might get a kick out of it. They’ve got the first five minutes of Nail’n Palin on YouTube.
I LOL’d.

@Will Hunting: WOO! GO HORNS!
Will Hunting
zifnab – such a different team than when Vince was here. Loving it just the same though. Colt, Shipley, Obgonnaya all rock.
Worried about the road games at Tech and KU.
Zifnab
@Will Hunting: After the way we handled Mizzou, I’m not too worried. I admit, it is a little strange seeing our QB pass the ball – much less pass with a 80+% completion record. And our defense is still great, but it has come down some in the last few years.
That said, short of a major injury – knocks on wood – I’ve got no problem seeing us take another National Championship.

Does anyone have any links to the size of the crowds Biden is getting? I can’t find any recent estimates on Google. Only old one’s that aren’t very flattering.

David Price is sick.
Eric U.
The one in Tacoma today was said to have 11000. I don’t know if I would expect Biden to pull in big numbers, the big guy is the draw.
blogreeder
Thanks. Palin rally headline usually have crowd sizes where Bidens normally don’t. Some use crowd sizes as an indication of popularity.
Calliope
John McCain drew 7,000 supporters Saturday in North Carolina. (!)
So, Blogreeder, Joe Biden, a candidate for Vice President, significantly outdraws your Presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, Obama drew over 100,000 in St. Louis.
"Some use crowd sizes as an indication of popularity."
Heh. Indeed.
Perry Como
@Calliope: Obama drew another 75,000 in Kansas City. Maybe they are all fraudulent supporters sent by ACORN.

Biden easily filled the ironically named Cheney Stadium yesterday. The stands were full including the overflow and standing room only sections and the floor was pretty packed. I still can’t believe I was up against the rail and got to shake his hand :)

I was wondering about this on the WA ballot (also vote-by-mail).
We have Obama/Biden at the top, then McCain/Palin, then Nader/Gonzalez (as "Independent Candidates"), then La Riva/Puryear (Socialism and Liberation Party), then Harris-Kennedy (Socialist Workers Party), then Barr/Root (Libertarian Party), then Baldwin/Castle (Constitution Party), then McKinney/Clemente (Green Party). No idea how the order gets set.
Our state Republican party is so incompetently duplicitous that its effort to have its candidates hide their connection to the party everybody loves to hate in ’08 by running as "GOP" candidates rather than Republican didn’t appeal to all of their candidates, so the ballot has Republican candidates for some offices listed as "Republican" and some as "G.O.P."

Thanks for the link. Impressive considering St. Louis has only around 500,000 people. I understand the metro area is 5 times that.
Eloquence isn’t everything. It’s the content. Hitler was eloquent too. A more apt analogy is: Lenin drew huge crowds too. (get it, I’m "using spread the wealth" to draw the analogy. pretty good for 8:00 am)

AHA! So THAT’S why I’ve never seen this so-called BSOD– I’ve been an Opera partisan for years; and BJ3.0 works beautifully for me, and has since it came online.
Opera. The little browser that does.
