Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

The revolution will be supervised.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

“Squeaker” McCarthy

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Chutkan laughs. Lauro sits back down.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. let’s win this.

And so it is for the politically and morally bankrupt Kevin McCarthy.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

“And when the Committee says to “report your income,” that could mean anything!

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Battle won, war still ongoing.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

Republicans in disarray!

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Have at it.

Well, that was at least over quick.

*** Update ***

And it appears my pessimism was unwarranted. WVU turned it around nicely.

Auburn is pretty bleh this year. I was glad Tuberville fired their offensive coord. after the Vanderbilt fiasco, but unless they upset Florida and ‘Bama this year, this season’s over.

I was watching Fox News today and Megan Kelly was wrapping up a segment in which Karl Rove was giving a state of the campaign briefing. (Have you noticed that Rover has pried the Dry Erase board out of Tim Russert’s cold, dead hands?)

So Megan says, "Karl Rove crunching the numbers for us. Karl crunched the numbers and won two elections for…uh…somebody".

Bush is now "He Who Shall Not Be Named In Conjunction With Karl Rove" on Fox.

They should have headed over to the creation museum in Kentucky for the day.

    @fuddmain:

So who gets the axe first, Tuberville or The Great Pumpkin (aka Fulmer)?

My money is on Fulmer. If AU doesn’t finish the season in some form of respectability, Tuberville may go the way of his OC. They are getting restless in Tiger or War Eagle or whatever-town.

I would say Fulmer, but I believe he got a, uh, fat contract extension last year and it would cost UT a mint to show him the door.

I would think Tuberville would survive this year, but he’d better turn it around next year.

My mom’s a War Eagle. Even she knows Auburn is below-average this year.

Lighten up, Francis. It’s only second quarter, and your Eers just scored a TD to make it 17-10.

Tuberville’s a goner, especially if they lose to Tide this year. Too many poor seasons.

As a UGA grad and fan, I know how those fat contracts work…see Goff (I think we are still paying him) and Donan. But at times it I do wonder if that Fulmer is paid in donuts.

Didn’t realize he re-upped last year. That’s probably a lock for at least one more year unless some big donor(s) steps up and muscles him out.

Personally, I like Tuberville, can’t stand Saban. I would love to see AU thump Alabama, but ALA’s line (O & D) will smoke them. I sat in utter disappointment as they dismantled our boys for two quarters in Athens.

It ain’t over. IT AIN’T OVER! Down seven at the half ain’t bad — it’s not where we’re used to being, but it ain’t bad. I’m seeing some good stuff. But:

    1) Where the fuck is our defense on these fucking 3rd downs? Fuck!

    and:

    2) What the fuck is wrong with these refs? I counted 3 blown calls on that first Auburn drive: the catch that wasn’t; the fumble that wasn’t (even the anchors missed that one, but the guy’s knees hit the ground, man); and I forget the third one, but it was important, I know that much.

Interceptions happen. It just sucks for two to come that early. Leaves no room for mistakes later.

    But IT AIN’T OVER, DAMMIT!!!

Good luck and here’s to a great game. I promise no stupid ass celebrating in the end zone. I was a bit embarassed by that moment, but our team needed a little false bravado to make em feel good. I would love to see that done, but for the best crazy they need to have their guard down. Bachmann was just happily chattering along about how much liberals hate America, because that’s what she does when she’s on autopilot, as far as I can tell.

Sneak a few unobtrusive mikes and camcorders into campaign events, and that’s where the good batshit will come from.

Add Thomas Sowell to the wingnut, scare tactics brigade, if he was not already there.

If Obama wins the White House and Democrats expand their majorities in the House and Senate, they will intervene in the economy and redistribute wealth. Yet their economic policies "will pale by comparison to what they will do in permitting countries to acquire nuclear weapons and turn them over to terrorists.

I guess he never heard of the Lugar-Obama Initiative.
