I’m not saying I’m a fan of rugby league, I’m saying it’s something that’s popular in the UK. Hell, if you really wanted to go crazy, you could point out that there’s also Gaelic football.

First off: Rugby League, I’m sorry, is just way more fast-paced and interesting and open. Rugby Union is okay and all, but I can’t believe all the rugby fans who bitch about "stoppages" in American football with all the lineouts and scrums and other bullshit. I’ll take league any day.
But yeah, they should be expanding into Latin America.
Meanwhile, I’m glad my topsy turvy Broncos are off today, lest they embarrass themselves yet again. Although if they allowed cameras in practice I bet we’d see the tackling dummies rushing for over 100.

Took my 7 year old son to his first NFL game today here in "not real" America – Foxboro, MA to see the Pats beat the Rams. Perfect fall weather, a pretty good game and of course at Pats victory made it a great day for us.

Snort @ people mocking the NFL. The EPL is on the verge of bankruptcy anyway. Man U. lost their sponsor (might have heard of AIG?) Tottenham’s owner was the largest shareholder in the bank of Iceland, and Liverpool is teetering on foreclosure.
Desparate for money, they will start by selling their souls to ESPN for the cashola. Give it 10 years and there will only be 4-5 teams left in the EPL anyway — including Celtic and Rangers, who will have to leave the Scottish League because there simply isn’t enough money there anymore. They’ll combine with the few decent teams in La Liga and Serie A to create a "European Football League." They will have no choice, as the MLS and Bundesliga will be right on their heels otherwise. Either that or the ONLY good football played at Wembley will be touring American clubs.
And people call America a dying country. At least they aren’t already comatose but afraid to admit it.

Jeez. The only thing worse than being humiliated by the opponent’s passing offense is being humiliated by the opponent’s passing offense on a nationally televised game after spending all week mouthing off to the press about knowing just how you are going to stop the opponent’s passing offense.
The Charger’s offense stepped up and almost saved the day, but the defense did what it does week after week; talk tough and play candyass. Somebody ought to put a muzzle on these idiots. Don’t blather about what you are going to do, you morons, just get out there and do it.

No, the EPL is not on the verge of bankruptcy. Some of the teams might be, but the league is as healthy as it was meant to be- the top teams are successful, the rest fight to starve off relegation. You’ve nailed Tottenham’s woes, but the problem with Liverpool is the bickering American owners. Petrogarchs from Russia to the Persian Gulf are drooling at the prospect of buying the Reds, just as potential sponsors are bidding to pay Man Utd. more than AIG spent.
You’re on to something concerning a European super league, however. The entrenched, successful, elite clubs in Spain and England have upset the economic balance of football worldwide. If FIFA doesn’t enact equitable profit-sharing you’ll see a league similar to the current UEFA Champions’ League (at the expense of the separate national leagues), but with little change in the teams that make up this new league (as if there’s much change in the Champions’ League competitors as is).
All that said, GO HULL CITY TIGERS! Nice to see a team succeeding on the cheap. I just hope they don’t lose half the team when the January transfer window opens.
