This has been shown as a “dead heat”, in no small part because one of the tests to become a conservative blogger is to solve the problem 2+6 with a reference to Edmund Burke.

Well, it depends on what you mean by a conservative blogger. I really doubt that red-meat nutballs like Dan Riehl or Bob Owens know Edmund Burke from Delta Burke.
Dave S.
Burke would have decried the use of the plus sign as Jacobin.

Gus,
Or from Burke’s Law for that matter. But ignorance on that scale is necessary to truly be an effective right-wing blogger. I mean, I go by the assumption that most of these people wear velcro shoes because laces are a communist invention.

Jesse Taylor is a national treasure. i wish his blog had a feature to let you filter out the other authors.
what’s that Greasemonkey? you say there’s a way to make that happen? just a bit of JavaScript? hmm…

I havent a clue what that blockquoted phrase means. What’s the significance of the 2 and 6 and who’s Edmund Burke?

This topic is perfect for viewing how the wingnuttosphere works. The original post was from Redalert at redstate and then linked throughout the nutter matrix, until it was firmly absorbed into their neural net like glue on paper.
I read into the comments last night, and several commentors were saying it didn’t sound right CA announcing the bipartisan breakdown this early in the voting. I myself tried to google it and could find nothing. Then, in the RS comments was a reply from master blogger Redalert..

These folks over at RedState are beginning to make the "aware of all internet traditions" dimwit look like a fucking rocket scientist.

What Gus said.
Maybe, "with a reference to Ronald Reagan."

Doggie.
Obama just unleashed his bad ass fired up righteous self final week closing speech on Ohio. Dang.

Latest Washington Post poll in Va. shows Obama up by eight, Democrat Mark Warner leads Jim Gilmore by 30 points for the Senate seat.

@Dennis – SGMM:
Yeah, I saw that—live in the DC metro area and get the dead-tree WP.
I guess I always assumed that Warner would win, but not with that kind of spread…
WOW!

i hope everyone’s ready for the upcoming GOP bloodbath, where the "the litmus test will be: where did you stand on Palin?”
good times.
but remember the GOP is not a personality cult.

@cleek: I stood athwart her yelling STOP!
Because that would require actual personalities. Is it possible to worship and adore spasmodic reflexes that resemble volition?
Apparently the answer is yes.

hahaha I read that last night and felt the same way.
Anthropologically speaking, RedState is an incomparable resource. Unfortunately no one has been able to let the RedStaters in on the secret yet. They’re like Arthur Dent in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy when the mice show up and inform him that the earth is a simulation that the mice have been running for millions of years.
Only Arthur Dent didn’t project his inadequacies onto everyone else in the most dickheadish way possible.

This is what the Republican Party has done to us this year: It has placed within reach of the Oval Office a woman who is a religious fanatic and a proud, boastful ignoramus. Those who despise science and learning are not anti-elitist. They are morally and intellectually slothful people who are secretly envious of the educated and the cultured. And those who prate of spiritual warfare and demons are not just "people of faith" but theocratic bullies. On Nov. 4, anyone who cares for the Constitution has a clear duty to repudiate this wickedness and stupidity.

Unfortunately for the GOP, if Burke was alive he’d probably be endorsing Obama and they’d have to out him as a RINO.

I was reading Jesse way before Ezra Klein came on board.
+1 for cleek’s observation about him being a national treasure.

Anyone have contact info for Ms. Cobb? I’ve got some prime Okeefenokee real estate she’s sure to be interested in.

As far as I can tell, they aren’t. Moreover, according to this site, nearly 2 million people have voted in California already, which certainly casts doubt on our dear little chum’s data. What I suspect he found, assuming that he didn’t just make the whole thing up, was the data from, e.g., a single county.
On the other hand, given that nobody has been able to find anything on sfgate.com, or any other site, that even looks close to those numbers, it’s pretty likely that he just made it up.
It’s been interesting wandering the rightwing blogosphere threads, watching just how few people even question those numbers. And watching how those few who do are immediately jumped on.
