Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

Trump’s cabinet: like a magic 8 ball that only gives wrong answers.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

“Facilitate” is an active verb, not a weasel word.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

The fight for our country is always worth it. ~Kamala Harris

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Welcome to day five of every-bit-as-bad-as-you-thought-it-would-be.

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

These are not very smart people, and things got out of hand.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest the folks who believe that an Obama presidency will spell the end of The Daily Show are complete fucking morons.

    Just piles of stupid.

@Comrade Jake: Ditto, Bush was a side show for them. The media is their main target.

One of the interesting things about this site is that the music threads are evenly divided between Ludwig Van and the Beastie Boys.

    Classical pianists mock Palin, too.

JD: I just simply can’t believe in the midst of this intense campaign season, you could find the time to talk with me about the “Hammerklavier” Sonata.

SP: Well, ya know, Beethoven was the dude who said thanks but no thanks to Napoleon. Plus from all the mavericky songs he wrote, maybe this one could be known as the most maverickyest….

Thing is, I likes me some Ludvig, Wolfgang, and Johan as much as The King Ad Rock….and while Christian music may be polarizing, Handel’s Messiah…pure genius:

It ranks right up there with Sanitarium by Metallica. (how’s that for screwed up musical taste…guess I’m a musical mutt or something)

You know, my all-time favourite piece of music is "Canon in D" (also known as "Pachelbel’s Canon") by Johan Pachelbel.

    Beautiful song. :)

Guess my last comment didn’t go through.

I said my favourite classical piece is "Canon in D" (aka "Pachelbel’s Canon) by Johann Pachelbel.

I used to be able to play this, it was my favorite. If my mother hadn’t used those damn piano lessons as punishment I might have stuck with it.
