Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

Let me file that under fuck it.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

She burned that motherfucker down, and I am so here for it. Thank you, Caroline Kennedy.

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

So fucking stupid, and still doing a tremendous amount of damage.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

Democracy cannot function without a free press.

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

This blog will pay for itself.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

The real work of an opposition party is to hold the people in power accountable.

Everybody saw this coming.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

Everything packed, water in every room, doors propped open, bed made for Tunch, remembered to bring all the electronics cords, have the books for the flight, Ipod is charged, and I am off.

Maybe I will take some pics and we can play Where in the World is John Cole? At any rate, for now, I am hiding, like this fellow:

That fellow looks like my girl KC at work. She has the run of the place and we find her in the oddest places.

Happy trails and a safe journey, John.

    Safe journey John. Have fun.

I’ll venture a pre-clue guess for Costa Rica.

John, as much as you travel these days, I might suggest:

    1. you get a girlfriend to keep Tunch company while you are gone, or
    2. you find a good foster family for him and ask for visitation rights. You leave that cat alone FAR too much.

P.S. – This is not to piss you off, or to be taken disparagingly, I’m only thinking of poor Tunch.

Yes, I just hope Tunch doesn’t end up stuck in a bedroom.

John, where are you going and why?

I keep reading that you’re off on one trip, returning from another but haven’t caught what all these trips are about?

Are you now an international man of mystery? ;)

Safe travels — and come back and blog soon.

And good luck to Tunch and your furniture.

J., I can remember when my ex sister-in-law had a Yugo and that was 22 years ago. I"m amazed they’ve only managed to manufacture about 100,000 of them in 22 years? Sounds like that business should have been scrapped long ago.

They only sold 100K in the US, during a relatively short period of time. They probably sold millions in Eastern Europe.

Hope your sister held onto her Yugo. It could now be a collector’s item (and worth more than she paid for it)!

"Oh my God! I forgot to put on my pants this morning!"

Not really. But whenever I pay too much attention to whether I have everything I need, there’s always something important I’ve forgotten. (Come to think of it, that happens when I’m not paying attention, too…)

    Have a good trip!

    @J.:

Not as many in Eastern Europe I think, except for Yugoslavia itself. Most of the Eastbloc countries had their own auto industry and they didn’t seem to export many to their neighbors. The ones that didn’t have a car industry themselves imported Lada’s from the Soviet Union. I travelled through Eastern Europe in the early nineties and remember a distinct mono-culture of cars in each country, interspersed with the odd Mercedes or BMW.

John, the other day someone sent you a picture of their hamster. Why don’t you post it? Are you an anti-rodentite?
