Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

President Musk and Trump are both poorly raised, coddled 8 year old boys.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

Giving up is unforgivable.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

America is going up in flames. The NYTimes fawns over MAGA celebrities. No longer a real newspaper.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

T R E 4 5 O N

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

This chaos was totally avoidable.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Heading to Cole High Command at an undisclosed location, so posting will be light today. On the upside, there will be plenty of photos of Jack Russell puppies in the near future. Also, been a while since we have had a pet pic, so here you go:

See you all this evening.

The kitty radiates kitty ennui; a cat that has eaten everything that can be eaten, shit in the owners shoes, torn up furniture, slept all day, assaulted the dog, and now can’t figure out what to do next.

I feel itz mah duty to discuss Mark Teixiera’s redunkulous boss contract widda Yankx. It’s so egregious that I now hafta cheer for a serious injury, which is somewhat admittedly crass. Talk about tone-deaf w/ to the greater econ….

That’s my baby Sammi ! She’s 15 now but this pic was taken a couple of years ago. She walks very slowly now and for Xmas I’m going to buy her a step ladder so she can climb on the bed easily.

@Rosali: I just bought my geriatric — 17-yr-old, Willie — a foam ramp to use for mounting the bed. He still jumps up onto the bed, but uses the ramp to get down. Which is good, since I worry more about him fracturing something in the dismount anyway. Got it cheap on eBay. All sorts of pet ramps there.
I decided against steps thinking a level surface ramp thing would be far easier.

We are tracking Santa on Google Earth.

The mall I went to yesterday had a Santa photo booth sponsored by none other than NORAD. Teach them kiddies about the MIC in a big way, yup yup.

Of course, we could do that by showing them Wargames, but we don’t want to scare them too much.

    Travel safe, John. Happy holidays.

Would that cat be considered fat, or just fluffy?

That looks so much like my cat it’s freaky. And although I sent you a photo of him, I know I didn’t while drunk sometime send you that one, because we don’t have floors anything like that.

This is a different angle, but seriously, that IS my cat.

Best wishes to everyone. I’m heading back to bed for some more sleep before the present opening and drinking commences.

That cat looks like a growed-up version of the one we just gave to my in-laws for Christmas. Only because she’s a kitten, she’s way more active at present. I’ll probably have more video of her tomorrow.

@Incertus: She’s gorgeous, with a rather long tail.
PetSmart rocks. They do such a service to the rescue groups with their cat adoption facilities, not to mention the often near-gratis vet help they offer to the groups with their in-house services, spay/neuter grants, etc. I also love their "do you want to donate $1 to a local animal group?" at check out. So easy.

@Tattoosydney: For Pedro. From last year when she spent her holiday down in SC on a barrier island. She’s not feeling nearly that social or adventurous this year. None of us are.

Incertus and Little- It’s obvious our cats come from the same family. Sammi invites them over for Xmas dinner.

The cat is fat. She has a belly that hangs low and people often ask if she’s pregnant. In this pic, the belly rolled over to the side. She’s lost weight recently.

Laura W- Thanks for the recommendation on the ramp. I think that’s the way to go.

@Rosali: Rosali, here is the one I got. The seller was quick to ship. It’s not pretty at all, but it’s lightweight and functional. I wanted one a bit higher, but this turned out fine. You can see this seller does foam steps as well.

    @Laura W:

You guys are such a good source of kitty info.

I just bought one of those ramps for MY 17-yr-old cat. Probably more for my comfort than his…I get tired of heaving him on and off the couch.

  27. 27.

    Laura W

    December 24, 2008 at 6:17 pm

@Zuzu’s Petals: Oh good…now I can show you what else you’re missing over here besides lots of Napa sparkling wines, stinky cheese and crackers. Norman Love confections! WTF? A very evil friend had them delivered today, and I can promise you they will be my nomination for Wost Gift this year. They have no preservatives and must be consumed immediately within 21 days.

I’ve done my part by eating the whole top shelf (upper right in photo) of the double-decker box already. But that was four hours ago, so I think I’m on track to meet my goal of consuming them all by midnight tomorrow. So far, the round marble ones with all the swirly gigs are the best…pumpkin, raspberry… But then, the ground floor is full of truffles, so I reserve my verdict.
    urp.

Hope you and Leah and the cats have a great Christmas.

Ohmigosh they are gorgeous! But I see your dilmena. Yes, that is an evil friend indeed.

Someone brought a killer chocolate cake to my Christmas party, and I made sure they took the leftover portion home with them … fortunately the husband is a skinny-skinny who can eat anything.

    I know my limits.
