Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

This really is a full service blog.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Despite his magical powers, I don’t think Trump is thinking this through, to be honest.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Schmidt just says fuck it, opens a tea shop.

Take your GOP plan out of the witness protection program.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

Republicans do not pay their debts.

Battle won, war still ongoing.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

He really is that stupid.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

In my day, never was longer.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

The Pennies for Peace story was amazing, for lack of a better word.
It brought to mind an NBC News segment on Jan. 2 on Pilots N Paws. (Link is giving me grief but it’s on NBC site. and on this board:)

Just checked their message board: Ride Boards, Pilots Volunteering Services, and see many joined after the segment aired. Here’s their site. Pawsome!

    PILOTS N PAWS PURPOSE

This site is intended to be a meeting place for those that rescue, shelter, or foster animals, and pilots or plane owners willing to assist with the transportation of animals. It is not the intent of Pilots N Paws to coordinate or arrange the activities of those providing these valuable services, but to provide the environment in which those involved can come together in a common place and arrange or schedule rescue flights, overnight foster care or shelter, and all other related activities.

I fail to comprehend how you can write politics all week long, then subject yourself to more of the bullshit on your weekends. Perhaps keep weekends for pet and pigskin posts?

@rob: I’ve just come up on the 1 year anniversary of losing both my Great Danes, one of which loved elephants. If there was one on TV you couldn’t change the channel, nor could you see the TV because her big butt was in the way. I always wanted to find a way to get her to meet one in real life, but never did. So, yes, this story had me crying like a baby. Stupid CBS Sunday Morning.

Yikes, Ben Stein is babbling in my ear as I write this. Now I’m teary and nauseous.

@Comrade Mary, Would-Be Minion Of Bad Horse: Thank you, I’d forgotten about that gem. Wasn’t it appropriate that she died on Christmas Day? My favorite part about the coming holiday was breaking out my cd’s with Eartha singing Santa Baby and Baby It’s Cold Outside.

Change is the new slogan for america. Unfortunately it’s the "brother can you spare a dime" variety.

*Where or how may I send a donation for the care and support of Bella and Tara and all the other animals ?

*What was the title and author of the "lame duck president’s" segment ? It was spoken so quickly however, never repeated. May I suggest that such a recap of title and author would be an nice asset for viewers who may miss the beginning of such a segment, or just didn’t hear it clearly when mentioned.

    * Please and Thank you’s, from a very, very long time viewer. gh.

If anyone wants to see the dog and elephant story it’s here. And while googling CBS Sunday Morning, I was mortified to see my comment here (@8) was the 3rd one down on the list. Balloon-Juice, it is powerful. And that internet is dang intrusive.

I loved the story on the elephant and her pet dog.

Here’s information on the Elephant Sanctuary and here.
