Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“I never thought they’d lock HIM up,” sobbed a distraught member of the Lock Her Up Party.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

The words do not have to be perfect.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

People are complicated. Love is not.

Thanks for reminding me that Van Jones needs to be slapped.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

A consequence of cucumbers

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

In short, I come down firmly on all sides of the issue.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

You can’t love your country only when you win.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

I am a Monk junkie. I have seen every episode, as far as I know, at least twice. The new one comes on here later on.

I find the symmetry between the dome of the mosque and Joe the Douchebag’s bald dome in the PJTV ad to be mesmerizing.

I still can’t figure out why Joe the Douchebag is doing this. He says its to get the average Joe’s perspective on the fighting, so he’s going to be interviewing average Israeli citizens and soldiers.

I wasn’t aware that Israel and the IDF were having trouble catapulting the media in our country.

I still can’t figure out why Joe the Douchebag is doing this.

He has no job. There are 15 million other Americans that would jump at the opportunity as well.

Anybody else watching Rogers’ new project Leverage?

Yeah, it’s entertaining. My wife picked it up and I told her it was a remake of the A-Team. I think mentioning that was a mistake…

Ooh . . . I’ve found the top wingnut internets teevee critic of the week. He’s busy analyzing Lost as a source of true and solid conservative values. Here’s his deep analysis of one character:

Benjamin “Henry Gale” Linus: AKA Benry. Benry is evil to be sure – but he’s pure, solid, wonderful evil in the mold of Dick Cheney.

Of course the folks at Sadly, No have already gotten to the scene of the crime.

No Monk for me — I’ve watched a couple of episodes, and found it just very…frustrating to watch. Mind you, my brother went through a very long period of OCD, so the thought of actually being entertained by it is pretty foreign.

And J. Michael Neal, that’s awesome news about Eddie! Appetite is one of the surest indicators of health in an animal, so this news portends a good recovery indeed.

I have to admit I am going through withdrawal since giving up satellite.
Burn Notice, Psych and Monk (who doesn’t love Tony Shaloub?) were all nice diversions. And all those alternate-reality Wall Street shows on CNBC made me chuckle (or gag) a lot, too.

When cable or satellite companies decide to allow customers to choose more of the programming, maybe we”ll change our minds and re-up, but in the meantime my BP doesn’t fluctuate as much since I cut CNN and MSNBC from my daily diet.

I’m using the monthly savings now to stock up on pitchforks, torches, tar and feathers to distribute to family, friends and like-minded individuals. I think these items will be in short supply due to high demand in the very near future.

Good to hear that. Our pets see us through hard times, and it really sucks to watch helplessly when they aren’t doing well. As haughty and independent as cats seem at times, it hurts when they look at you with this "When are you going to fix this?" expression when they are sick, and you just don’t have a magic mojo to make it better.

Agreed…except in my case it was ME that went through it…but fortunately it was only for a fairly brief period of maybe 5 or 6 weeks. It was truly freaky to constantly feel compelled to wash my hands after I touched just about anything. At a certain point my hands became chapped to the max, painfully so, and while that didn’t help my head a whole lot, it did push me past denial enough to get some help.

So when I tried to watch Monk I really didn’t feel the laughs, either. Actually, I found it annoying because I didn’t think Shaloub captured the essence of the disorder (not that he should have, after all, the OCD was just a gimmick), so it just seemed to be making fun of folks who have it. I think I saw two episodes, and one of them was where he seemed to be getting better…only to have something happen that fucked him up again. Boy, you can imagine how hilarious I thought that was.
