Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

You cannot shame the shameless.

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

Live so that if you miss a day of work people aren’t hoping you’re dead.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

“They all knew.”

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

Not rolling over. fuck you, make me.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

Giving up is unforgivable.

Reality always gets a vote in the end.

Be a wild strawberry.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

Cancel the cowardly Times and Post and set up an equivalent monthly donation to ProPublica.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

An Unusual Cure For PTSD

This is a cool use of neurobiological common sense. It does, however, run the risk of swamping the VA with veterans suffering a different kind of stubborn memory. There were weeks of my youth when I considered prying the Korobeiniki song out of my head with a sharpened spoon.

If you’re desperate, try the Eurythmics.

If you ask me, Tetris proves the Soviets were the really winner of the cold war.
I can’t count the hours I wasted on that game.

That damn game gave me PTSD. I can still hear the music every time I try to sleep.

My daughters got Mama Mia for Christmas, so now it’s "Voulez Vous" followed by "Dancing Queen" and then "Mama Mia" and around and around. Argh.

I was horribly addicted to Tetris. It’s the main reason I stay far away from things like WOW. I might get sucked in . . .

I still play Tetris for hours over at FreeTetris.org. I’ve never reached my former scoring ability though.

Complaint: the hyperlinks on the new page are too indistinct from the regular text. If I were color blind I wouldn’t be able to see them at all.

Tetris! Is there anything it can’t do?

Ecstasy Improves Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Treatment, Say Norwegian Researchers

I think I would prefer a six-hour dose of ecstasy to six hours of Tetris.

Except that the Tetris is prophylactic, whereas the MDMA is used to treat people who already have PTSD.

    I’ll take the tetris.
