Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

A lot of Dems talk about what the media tells them to talk about. Not helpful.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

If you are still in the GOP, you are an extremist.

I didn’t have alien invasion on my 2023 BINGO card.

The revolution will be supervised.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Come on, man.

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

Republicans in disarray!

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

No one could have predicted…

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires

I really should read my own blog.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

No puppies were harmed taking these photos. First, Guesly sleeping:

And Ginny posing:

More pictures as dad sends them. They are getting really big, and are attending obedience school.

    TEH CUTE! IT BURNS MEEEEEEEE!

Gawd I love these pups. I’ve had the pic of Guesly and Ginny barking at the Westminster Dog Show as my desktop background for awhile, to the point a friend saw it and said, "Umm, those aren’t your dogs."

Uncomfortable discussion about blogs, and why, ensued, resulting in —-> Jen = Weird. Burned again by TEH CUTE!!

Gosh, Ginny looks like a whole ‘nother dog now. She is getting cuter as she ages and her fur grows out. The long fur on Guesly’s front paws tickles my heart.

I’m so glad all the spoofs and trolls don’t seem to care for the pet threads. All the more reason to be sure an MDR is observed. Such a nice haven here in which to cleanse the palate while scrolling through the earlier threads that are chockfull of crap.

No, you just miss the inevitable Tunch jokes. Admit it. That rotund, melon ball of fur has captured your heart and makes you giggle like a school girl at recess.

They are getting really big, and are attending obedience school.

Good luck with that. We had one. She was full of energy up until maybe a couple of weeks before she died.

Real sweetheart, though. Was always appropriately guilty-looking after destroying something valuable, and would then repeat the next day. When you can get them off their search-and-destroy missions for a few minutes, they are very cuddly.

@Laura W Darling: Umm, excuuuuuse me, but I believe I’m the one around here who invented pet stalking.

Unless you’ve not yet told us about your awkward discussion with a friend, wherein you had to explain to her all about blogs, and comment sections, and how of course the dogs aren’t mine, silly, they’re some blogger’s, oh except they’re his parents’ dogs, and soforth.

Cute Burn. Do they make a cream for that?

@JenJen: Hey! Blame Fuckhead for the confusion. I sure do.
Besides, I think this thread, and the Cole Family Fur Tribe, is big enough for more than one stalker, don’t you, JenJen?
No need to think or play small:

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you.

(I am truly not sure if Nelson Mandela said that or Marianne Williamson stole it from him, went on Oprah, and pretended that she channeled it.)

@Laura W Darling: Huh. I woulda pegged that as a Julia Roberts quote.

Anyhow, you’re right, I should have employed the Universal Fuckhead Snuggie o’ Blame. What was I thinking?!

I do believe we have an entire thread full of Guesly-Ginnie stalkers indeed. Time to plan the maneuvers.

Marianne Williamson said it. It was erroneously attributed to Nelson Mandela. That quote is from her book, "A Woman’s Worth."

    @Polish the Guillotines:

I want to very gently nom on Ginny’s ears — they look so incredibly soft.

@Laura W Darling: While I was driving home from school tonight, I thought Laura needs a song and so I rummaged through my mind looking for the perfect song, not knowing you’d treated me so shabbily in my absence.

So I found you another one.

Poor Gus, much too large for cute. Fortunately he is willing to go along with important issues because obedience is not in a Pyrenese nature.

If Cole keeps ga-ga-ing over these dogs is one in Tunch’s future? That would be a weight reduction program. C’mon John, think of the photo opportunities of mass destruction and chaos.

    Laura W Darling:

You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.

There are definitely some people who would have served the world better by playing small. George Bush and Dick Cheney come to mind.

    March 3, 2009 at 10:54 pm

@JGabriel: I guess it all depends on what the meaning of "playing small" is. Some people (like the woman who wrote that quote) might say that is precisely what those two did.
