Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Beware of advice from anyone for whom Democrats are “they” and not “we.”

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

It is not hopeless, and we are not helpless.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Oh FFS you might as well trust a 6-year-old with a flamethrower.

We still have time to mess this up!

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

The revolution will be supervised.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

In after Baud. Damn.

Trump should be leading, not lying.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

The fight for our country is always worth it. ~Kamala Harris

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

Second rate reporter says what?

Big night at Cole HQ last night, as Ginny and Guesly both graduated from the first round of obedience school.

Mom says they will start the next round in a couple of weeks.

I love how the little black and white one is wagging his tail so hard that it is a blur in the photo. Too precious!!!

Their teacher looks like she has a pretty tight rein on them, though.

Congrats to the new grads! Good luck in this job market.

I love that picture. When I think of those two I think of the Simpsons episode where Santa’s little helper has to go to obedience school.

When I look at those pups, I see this. So much chaos & energy, in such a tiny package.

@AhabTRuler: The only thing dumber would be the nuclear hand grenade. Good thing they scrapped that. Too heavy to throw.

@John Cole: I don’t know if "stupid" really captures it. I mean, given the many ways in which the modern battlefield (i.e. every-frickin’-where) can be rendered "unpleasant," anything that get the job done makes a certain sense. It’s all completely fucking insane, but it follows a logic.

Now Operation Plowshare, that must have been due to some bad grass.

    Oh, cute puppies, BTW. ;-)

Tunch has completed his obedience training. He has trained John very well to cater to all his whims.

My earlier comment got eaten, but basically I was wondering if this meant an end to seeing videos of freshly bathed JRTs wreaking havoc in your dad’s spotless formal living room. I’d be kind of sad if it did. (I know, I know, I’m not the one who has to live with them, but damned if they’re not cuter when they’re being bad.)

PSA: Anybody who’s sharing their lives & homes with dogs should look into passing the Canine Good Citizen test:

    CGC Test

… which is really a "Canine-Housemate Good Citizen" program. It gives you, and Fido, a baseline for acceptable dog behavior in our not-always-dog-habituated society. Which can be very, very useful when it comes to renting an apartment, or getting a co-op board to agree on sensible pet rules, or bringing your dog to work / classes / shopping / other situations where people don’t always know what to expect & how to act around a dog.
