Sullivan has a link to several movies remade as David Lynch films, and as always, whenever I see one of those, I think of the Gold Standard:
If you like these kinds of things, here is a website I sorta keep track of- The Trailer Mash. Every now and then there is a good one. I found this one with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off re-imagined as a horror to be amusing:
Goonies of the Caribbean was pretty solid, too.

I was on my last blog stroll before bed and now I can’t stop laughing. Thank you.
JC
Brokeback to the Future… Classic. Almost as good as that one is the Shining trailer, remixed as a touching family comedy.
It’s a wonder what Peter Gabriel’s Salisbury Hill can do to a random set of movie clips.
asiangrrlMN
The first one is like slash fiction gone bad! These are very funny.

Ferris Bueller, recut with Requiem for a Dream:

Ha! Both of those in the post are damn solid. I hadn’t seen Brokeback to the Future and it’s hilarious. Thanks!
The “chicka-chick-AAAAHhhh!!” near the end of the Beuller one really sells it, IMO.
JenJen
@Dan: Fantastic!! Damn.
One of the “Free Credit Report” guys’ commercials is on now. Would make a nice recut in its own right.
Xecklothxayyquou Gilchrist
@JC: That Shining one is awesome, thanks to you too!
I can see I’ve been introduced to a whole vast new world of internet timewasting – just what I needed!
JC
@Xecklothxayyquou Gilchrist: Glad you liked. That one is my favorite. A lot of of the remixed trailers on youtube aren’t very good, but there are a few that are absolute gems.

The Mrs. Doubtfire remix was great.

@Dan: That’s a great clip!
However, I am a huge fan of the Poppies and I love Clint Mansell, but if I have to listen to Lux Aeterna one more time I’m gonna puke!

I popped in to comments to post a link to the Shining trailer, and find it’s already the second (and seventh) comment.
Good to know there’s a lbog of these things, though.
Also, with a thread like this one, I would watch out for RickRolls.
AhabTRuler
Strangely enough, I have only ever been RickRolled by Nancy Pelosi. Better hope I don’t end up in an elevator with her.

@AhabTRuler: You made me laugh. These four new ones from this morning are for you and Momo.
AhabTRuler
@Laura W: I’m not sure how Momo would react to a frog, although she is a fearsome insect hunter.
We have also recently discovered Greenies, and she has decided she has a future in being a Greenies Crackwhore(TM).

@AhabTRuler: My boys LOVE their Greenies. They are shameless.
JenJen
@Laura W: Swear to gawd, at first I thought that was a guinea pig and a frog.
ETA: My pups adore Greenies too, but they’re awfully spendy. :-(

@AhabTRuler:
How well I know that darkly lit downward spiral path of cat treat addiction despair.
Sadie is addicted to Cream.
Annie and Sadie used to be addicted to Greenies.
Now they are addicted to Treats.
Can you hear the auditory similarities? It’s really good that you foster and enable a dependence to these things, because it pretty much means they are trainable, like dogs. And cats are. I don’t care what dog people say. Cats are totally trainable. They are far smarter than dogs — you just have to learn how to bribe, outsmart and manipulate them. Dogs are just stoopid and live to please.
When I want Sadie to come in, I say “Sadie, CREAM!” and I shake the pint of half and half.
When I want Annie to come in, “Annie TREATS!” and I shake the bag of Greenies or Temptations.
It’s pretty foolproof.
Which means it works even for me.
Incertus
@Dan: There’s no video for this, just a thought piece, but it raises the idea that Ferris Bueller was really just a figment of Cameron’s imagination, a la Tyler Durden of Fight Club. I don’t know if it works all the way through, but it played with my head for a while.
Incertus
Oh, and this isn’t exactly a movie trailer mashup, but the idea is the same. Original Star Trek meets NIN’s “Closer.”
AhabTRuler
I make Momo get atop the Box Palace before I give her a treat (including any human food). She now leaps up as soon as I shake the bag.
Laura W
@AhabTRuler: I always scroll through your whole slideshow when I follow your links since there is always something new to chuckle at, and then there are the oldies but goldies that are always worth the revisit.
I’d not ever seen In Da Car. Adorable!

I love that Flickr judges some of my least viewed photos to be the most interesting.
What’s the least interesting? One L-Dub’s old fav’s, with over 200 views (the second most popular).

Weirdly enough, I did get stuck in an elevator with Diane Feinstein once. She is a dork.

The one with Hillary in the primaries was outstanding – “delegates waddling over to worship that dandy Obama, like he’s the second coming of Jimi Hendrix”, and “the fainting sissies from MoveOn.org, choking on their tofu because I voted for the Iraq war”. So much win in that one.
Don’t have the link, but it was on Funny or Die.

My favorite one of these is The Wicker Man as a comedy.

You mean The Wicker Man isn’t a comedy?
Oh. My.
Requiem for Toy Story was an early fav of mine. (No use of Lux Aeterna)

SNL Digital Short from tonight, Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake, featuring Susan Sarandon and I think that was Patricia Clarkson…?

Double win! That was better than the actual movie was!

I keep waiting for someone to post a really strange one. So here’s ALF reimagined as a David Lynch psychodrama. I love Videogum. Warning: creepy and addictive.

LOL! “And here comes Mr. Meatloaf!”
It reminds me of the unnecessary censorship edits – the bad stuff is all in your mind.
The Count’s Elevator
Brachiator
And then there is that Easter Season holiday classic, 10 Things I Hate About Commandments
Brought to you from the folks who also gave you that wacky seafaring romantic comedy, Must Love Jaws
And although it is not quite a typical movie mashup, you can’t beat the charm of Laurel and Hardy Do the Gap Band

Raymond Scott’s “Powerhouse” (you know it from Warner Bros. cartoons) for 6 harmonicas. At breakneck speed..

These are great, but especially the Laurel & Hardy Gap Band one… something so sweet about it.
My cat boys like Temptations. Until recently, when they became even more enamored of that Chex Mix type, which name I cannot look up now, lest I be swarmed.

Most of the good ones I know of have already been noted. But here are a couple people have missed: Terminator, recut as a romantic comedy:
