Internet has been in and out and waiting for the technician to swing by, but I was curious. Does the site seem to be fixed, or are you all still having problems? How about the mobile and rss feeds- someone mentioned that, too.
*** Update ***
Does anyone know where I can watch the first episode or two of Leverage. I want to give that series a shot, but don’t want to waste thirty bucks on the whole first season. I can’t find anything on Hulu. Is there anything Huluesque where I can watch an episode or two?
geg6
Hmmm…well, I have had several instances the last couple of days of having the refresh or load time out on the BlackBerry. Hasn’t yet happened today, but yesterday it was happening a lot.
orvis
As of a couple days ago, the site looks good here…
XP/FF3.5.1
Thanks.

Intermittent long reload times, intermittent mysql errors, and the things you already know about, no quicktags, no 5 minute edit.
For the most part fairly normal, but bad streaks.
The Saff
I’ve had no problems since Thursday morning early. Then you took down that one open thread and the formatting has been fine since.
Cap'n Phealy
Waiting for the technician, or someone like him…
Dr. Squid
Well, it at least looks normal again.
Steeplejack
Looks normal, no problems the last day or two. Except for the above-mentioned no-preview, no-edit, etc., which I believe are separate issues. Don’t use RSS. Will try mobile later from work.
XP/Opera 9.64.

Seems OK here, commenting cookie cocked and loaded. Same as it ever was…
Occasionally, long refresh times do happen but I attribute that to the hysterical fanboi adoration of our hosts Lily, Tunch and that other guy with the mop.
PurpleGirl
I’m on a home-built PC, using Windows XP (Office) and my browser is FireFox. The site looks normal. When I post this I’ll see if I can edit or not.
Sentient Puddle
I had this loaded up on another computer and didn’t think much of it until I tried to comment. At that point I realized the cookie bug appears to be fixed.
Can’t really say much about the load times. I had some crazy long ones yesterday while at work, but haven’t seen any since. No news is good news, maybe.
PurpleGirl
I didn’t get the edit function for my last post.

Other than really slow loading, not having issues.

It looks fine for me on XP/FF 3.5.1. I still see a few messages in the FF error console.

“Does the site seem to be fixed, or are you all still having problems?”
I dunno, is BOB still flinging feces against the wall in every thread?
steve
no problems ever lately. rss always good.
Travis
Seems fine. I’ve been reading it on a Mac with Firefox, and on an iPhone with Safari. I’ve never commented on the iPhone, so whatever bug you had with cookies from comments doesn’t apply.

why are they concern trolling your connection?

Site has been top notch for me on Firefox and an internet connection in South America. I was here all last night.
The only problems I’ve had so far is that it refused to deliver pizzas to my sector; but that’s not your fault. Nobody come out to the hills at night.
In other news, sonic boom scares minority groups in sector B.

oh… except the edit-for-five-minutes feature is disabled on my comment. odd.
also, rss feed works fine for me as well.

I’ve got Safari 4.0.2 and OS X 10.5.7, and everything looks normal…. Now.
A couple days ago it was really weird. But then I was using Firefox 3.5.1, and it’s normal in that.

@PurpleGirl: I think automatic formatting and editing have been disabled for about a week.

No issues on my iPhone 3.0.

The fucking assholes from Americans for Prosperity are sending busloads of people to town hall meetings all over the country this month to disrupt and derail and LIE about how decent healthcare coverage will be killing grandma and appearently ending civilization as we know it. I really hope the people on the buses are being well compensated for selling out their families and neighbors. God this pisses me off. It should be illegal.
My asshole representative,Tom Price(R-GAfuckface)is up to his eyeballs with AFP and Freedom Works. He’s also speaking at that idiotic Red State gathering in Atlanta this weekend.
I really loathe this man. He’s a damned doctor too. He should know better.

Weird… I have not had any trouble with the site at all — every time you post a message like this, I wonder what the fuss is about… I am on a Mac in the UK — no problems with the comments either, than I can tell…

John, you can watch all of Leverage’s first season . Not entirely legal, though.

Okay, I screwed up the html in my comment above. the link to leverage is: http://www.casttv.com/shows/leverage

Looks fine today. But it’s early yet….
I started getting The Troubles when the zootoo.com pet media showed up in your ads. That one little video window really slows my download time, and my computer refuses to stand-by if I leave this page open.
Just saying.

You can watch this season’s Leverage episodes on the TNT site — but it’s not near as user friendly as Hulu. You can also get season one from Netflix: rent, stream, or Roku box.
Season one is worth owning in my opinion; we all loved it around here, adults, teenagers, and even the 9-year-old. The three episodes so far this season have been entertaining, but not as good as season one.
The Grand Panjandrum
@A Mom Anon: Until the medical profession changes to a Mayo Clinic/Cleveland Clinic model the incentive for doctors is to provide the care that gives them the best return on investment for their time. It really is quite simple. Until then, big Pharma, big Insurance, and the AMA are in profit mode. It is an inherent conflict of interest.

I’ve never seen Leverage but I do know my sister and brother-in-law are fanatical about it. Personally, I waiting in anticipation for Season 3 of Mad Men.

Leverage is also on Amazon’s watch-on-demand service. It will cost $2 an episode, not too bad for a trial. I think it’s also on iTunes.
The Main Gauche of Mild Reason
Leverage is ok. The first several episodes were brilliant, but the show’s run out of steam since. The situations the team is forced into become increasingly more implausible.

The first 2 episodes of Leverage are on Comcast On Demand, if you have it, as are a bunch of other shows.

Not only is Leverage a great show, the co-creator is on your blogroll! Why weren’t you watching it in the first place?!

The entire first season of Leverage is available for streaming on Netflix.

I’m viewing your site and rss feed w/ Opera mini on my Blackberry and Firefox 3.5 on my XP Home SP3 and have yet to run into a problem. I’m a lurker and rarely comment, if that helps.

@The Grand Panjandrum: Before they passed a law preventing doctor’s from suggesting tests at off sites they own, Price did exactly that. He thought my son needed an MRI and had me go to a site that he had part ownership in. At the time we were IBM and they self insured. They called to see if he informed me about his ownership in the equipment. The test was unnecessary and after that we used another orthopedic doctor.
The Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic would not appeal to him.

Note to whoever is still interested: our family dejunking project proceeds apace. Also, John, please consider getting a 2nd opinion on Lord Tunch’s diet. Half a cup of food a day seems quite severe.

The Other Steve
I just finished watching the first season of Kings on NBC. I’m glad they decided to show the remaining episodes through the summer.
Unfortunately I don’t think it’ll get picked up for a second season, even though it’s a pretty good show. Great acting.

@The next-to-last samurai:
I have two cats. Between the two of them they receive 3/4 cup of food a day. It’s dispensed by this automatic food dispensing machine. This is Blue Wilderness dry food. They’ve been on this diet for six months now… they lost a bit of weight but not a lot. I think they’re down from about 13 lbs to 12 lbs. They’re a lot more active though. Lot’s of running and climbing and such.
Half cup of food a day is fine as long as it’s a quality one and it’s not mostly fillers.

From the Tard Files at RedState a post titled… We are birthers hear us roar in numbers too big to ignore
Seems the RS birthers are breaking out in song and dance over the numbers in the DKos sponsored poll. Starbursts!

BTW, site still looks fine, and this time didn’t get a database error message when commenting. So either there’s been a site fix, or it’s just randomly working okay.

Leverage is fun, but they have to dumb it down (Rogers recently said on his blog, in response to a query about why they found it necessary to “hit the audience over the head” with a couple of plot points, that their testing shows that 30% of the audience completely does not understand the con at all, but enjoys watching for the characters anyway.)
The show this season that I am really loving is Hung.

Don’t you have Netflix? All the episodes are on-demand.
There is so much on-demand there now that I dropped to 1 DVD at a time with unlimited downloads, $8.99 a month. If you have TIVO you can stream right to your TV
The Saff
I, like geg6, look forward to season 3 of “Mad Men” in two weeks.
I also like “Hung” on HBO but the female characters all seem to be flaky twits.

Will echo that Leverage is one of the best shows on television. If the only way you can watch it is to buy the dvd, buy all means do so.

re: Tunch
Au contraire. 1/2c food daily is just about the perfect amount for an indoor cat who is fed a quality food. My 5 range 10 – 14 lbs and that’s their daily quota. 1/4c. morning and 1/4c evening. Only one is a chub but she’s just an air fern and is actually only about a pound overweight these days. I can live with that.
ber-Xerxes (the biggest) gets an extra 1/8c on the sly most days because he’s quite active and tends to lose weight.

I was ranting about the birfers on my blog the other day, and I got this is response from “Jack”:
The time lines, places, actions, motives, when analyzed, support, and are consistent with, what is the answer to the Obama birth puzzle:
Obama’s grandmother is his mother and his mother is his sister.
Think about it. Review all the facts and claims.
Now, he didn’t say he was a birfer, but as he sent this in response to my ranting about birfers, I just assumed he was. It cracked me up because this idiot was so stupid, he didn’t realize that if his grand theory was true, it would totally eradicate the faux concern about Obama’s lineage as both his grandparents were born in Kansas.
Hahahaha. Birfer logic makes me laugh.
asiangrrlMN
Damn it.
Everything in the previous post from “The time lines…” to “Review all the facts and claims” is from Mr. Trollie. Hell. This whole part:

Obama’s grandmother is his mother and his mother is his sister.
Think about it. Review all the facts and claims.

Pages load fine but html formatting features in comments have to be done manually. You can’t just highlight a section and click a button to apply formatting, you have to type the html you want.

Isn’t the point of a “caper” plot to be intricate enough that the viewer doesn’t really get til it all starts to click? If they spelled out everything they expected to happen and what their Plan B would be, it would hardly be fun to watch.
I think of Leverage as “Oceans Eleven meets Mission Impossible”. But it’s getting kind of formulaic.

Of course. Because if the kid takes the blame for it, her husband will never notice she’s pregnant.

@eric k:
We got a Roku box to watch Netflix-on-demand and I don’t think we’ve watched an actual disk in months. There’s so much streaming stuff, it’s incredible.
Anyway, if you don’t want Netflix, iTunes has the Leverage eps for $2.99 each.
We love Leverage!
Delia
I thought this was the denouement to Chinatown.
Darkrose
I actually like that we’re seeing this season how easily things can go pear-shaped for the Leverage team. Yes, it’s formulaic–that’s the nature of what they’re doing, where there aren’t really long-term story arcs, so most things have to be largely wrapped up in 48 minutes. The reason I adore the show isn’t because of the plots; it’s because the characters are made of screwed-up awesome. And hot.
Demo Woman
@Joshua Norton: The only thing that would make me laugh is to find out that Greta Van Sustern is somehow involved.
Dustin
All I can say about Leverage is that I love it, but if they’re going to “dumb it down” I’ll quit watching. I watch the show for the characters and the con, not to be spoon fed like I’m a damn simpleton.

On the earlier Open Thread, RedKitten posted a message that had a time stamp of 12:22 pm. I responded within, probably, two minutes — my reply was only even remotely amusing or pertinent in close proximity to RK’s post and I know there was nothing showing in the queue after her. Anyhow, I hit Submit and went off to do other things. When I checked the thread a few hours later, my post showed 1:16 pm and it was far, far from the Kitten’s post.
Everything on the ‘Berry, by the way.
FWIW. But it’s the only issue I’ve had with BJ lately so I shouldn’t complain.

@ Delia:
In Chinatown, the mother is the mother AND the sister. “She’s my daughter!” (slap) “She’s my sister! (slap)
Bobby Darin’s real mother posed as his sister, and his grandmother posed as his mother.
And interestingly, given the Chinatown connection, same thing happened to Jack Nicholson. Nicholson was almost 40 when he found out.
I just had an opportunity to see Chinatown on the big screen; it’s as relevant to today’s politics as it was in the ’70s, perhaps more so.
