Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

Bad people in a position to do bad things will do bad things because they are bad people. End of story.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Fear or fury? The choice is ours.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

Well, whatever it is, it’s better than being a Republican.

Fundamental belief of white supremacy: white people are presumed innocent, minorities are presumed guilty.

People are complicated. Love is not.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Consistently wrong since 2002

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

“But what about the lurkers?”

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

There are times when telling just part of the truth is effectively a lie.

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

I really missed these guys since the election (they were the ones behind the John McCain “Like Hope, But Different” spoof video).

They also have a pretty fuckin’ hilarious libertarian anti-regulation spoof video: “Regulation Vacation Celebration.”

    “The markets at work!”
    “I have cholera!”
    “What?”

I can’t stop watching this. The Hillary portion is friggin’ hilarious.

This will do more damage to the Post than a hundred scathing articles. Good satire is so, so powerful.

I went on youtube first and watched an actual episode of Mouthpiece Theater so I could better understand the parody.

(truthfully, I watched half of one episode – it sucked too hard to watch a whole episode, even though I usually like Chris Cillizza when he’s on Olberman. Aaaanyways…)

that parody was so funny beer shot out my nose.

The blockquote is not working but here is an interesting story– turns out the Birthers used a real birth certificate for their forgery. From ABC (Australia)

“MARK COLVIN: An unsuspecting Adelaide public servant has found himself swept up in a conspiracy to oust the 44th President of the United States from office.

A movement known as the Birthers, which originated in California, is attempting to prove that Barack Obama was born in Kenya, not Hawaii, therefore making him ineligible to be President.

In a bid to stake their claim they released what appeared to be a Kenyan birth certificate with Obama’s name on it.

Sceptics soon traced the bogus birth certificate and found it to be a forgery. The document turns out to have been based on the birth certificate of an Adelaide man called David Jeffrey Bomford.”

I suppose everyone thought “Dan Froomkin Memorial Studio” was too obvious to mention.

When EW posted one of these things I said that TPMTV has actual wit and Mouthpiece Theater only has smarm. But a reason for Mouthpiece Theater is to compete with the TPMTVs as well and not let the video field be taken over by non-newspapers.

    Definition of Chutzpah

Justin Barrett, the Boston police officer suspended from the force for his e-mail likening Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., to a “banana-eating jungle monkey,’’ has filed a lawsuit against the Police Department, police commissioner, and mayor, saying the city violated his civil and due process rights.

Barrett was in the National Guard before he decided to email his heartfelt sentiments about racial comity to the Boston Globe. From what I heard, the Guard discharged him before the local newsmedia could even get clips of Menino on the air. I suspect Barret’s lawyer didn’t expect a whole lot of sympathy from the hard cases at the Guard, for some reason.
