It has probably been linked to already, but I just wanted to share (again) with the group.

I wonder what the silent majority is up to these days?

Most likely the next Senator from Massachusetts will be a woman. Our AG pulled nomination papers yesterday, and unless a Kennedy decides to get in, it’s going to be hers to lose.

Anybody wanna bet against the wingers trying to recruit this kid to join their /birther/deather/teabagger/Joe the not a plumber/”opposite marriage” silicone beauty queen/wasilla wingnut traveling anti-Obama traveling tent show revival tour and livestock exhibition?
Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends, step inside, step inside…
It just occurred to me just how many words I’ve had to add to my Firefox spell checker because of the wingnuts, or put up with the distracting little red lines while I’m writing. Freaks, they are…
now let’s get talking reefer madness
like some arrogant government can’t
by any stretch of the imagination
outlaw a plant!
yes, their supposed authority over nature
is a dream
c’mon people
we’ve got to come clean
cuz they are locking our sons
and our daughters in cages
they are taking by the thousands
our lives from under us
it’s a crash course in religious fundamentals
now let’s all go to war
get some bang for our buck
i am trying to evolve
i’m just trying to evolve
gunnin for high score in the land of dreams
morbid bluish-white consumers ogling luminous screens
on the trail of forgetting
cruising without a care
the jet set won’t abide by that pesky jet lag
and our lives boil down to an hour or two
when someone pulls a camera out of a bag

Very early Sept. and we wake up to 48F. Yeah, there’s nothing whacked about the climate nowadays.

@Face: Yeah, we’ve had some unseasonably cool weather here as well. Nice, but scary too.
Following up on my previous musical interlude, here’s something a little softer: Anais Mitchell, “Your Fonder Heart”
A couple of minutes ago, I was just thinking about a particular fond memory, spurred by the lyrics of the difranco song, and I am again reminded how wonderful life can be, juxtaposed with the heartbreak and craziness that surrounds us.
JK, I hope you see this. I wanna both kiss ya and smack you upside the head. The former because I am listening to Cat Stevens’ Father and Son, and I am digging it all over again. The latter because I dreamed of Michele Bachmann last night, damn you!
How is everyone else this fine morn?

It’s Wednesday, so what manufactured outrage do you think will drive the news cycle till the start of the long weekend?
I’m so bored with the current trend in reality news programming. It’s so one-note: death this and death that. I am tired of death! I want something lurid and multicultural where I can feel superior to the participants.

@Face: Yep, 54 here in Minneapolis. It feels more like early October than early September. Soon the cats will cry in vain at the window, for it shall not open again until Spring.
@debit: That’s pretty sweet, too. It looks like I’m an Islamofascist after all! I might have to buy me some Cat Stevens.
Now, I will go listen to Father and Son for the sixth time in a row.

Father and Son is definitely one of those songs that I could listen to multiple times.
Moonshadow is my second-fave Cat Stevens song, purely for the nostalgia factor. (My sister took guitar lessons when she was about nine, but was too shy to sing the lyrics to any of the songs, so four-year-old me would sing along instead, and Moonshadow was one of my favourite ones to sing.)

Something I found at the Esquire site this morning:
A Radical Solution to End the Drug War: Legalize Everything, By John H. Richardson
Main argument seems to be that we lose in the vicinity of 15,000 lives per year to the war, overdoses, etc., and waste more than $50 billion per year.
Regulation rather than prohibition could solve many of the problems – just as quality control and sales of alcohol are regulated now, post-Prohibition, and we don’t waste the lives and resources that were expended on that failed experiment.
It is a grim, grim day weatherwise here in Limeyland. So grim I am listening to Nick Drake. However, there’s some jambalaya in the slow cooker, so things should pick up this evening.

The Idiocracy is upon us.
I shall fight in the octagon.
Who will dare oppose me?
Darth Cheney will flee before my might.
His children shall be my servants forever.

Looks like the investment group that invited Sarah Palin to give a speech in Asia did so for the purpose of mocking her.

What a strange life we humans lead.

@arguingwithsignposts: If I could control my dreams, I would. I think she talked me to death instead. That’s her version of a death panel.
