Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

The words do not have to be perfect.

One way or another, he’s a liar.

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

Everybody saw this coming.

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

American history and black history cannot be separated.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

Our messy unity will be our strength.

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

In for a Schilling?

I actually sort of like Curt Schilling, even though he’s a winger. Anyone who hates Boston Globe sportswriters that much can’t be all bad. I just hope he knows what when Republican Senators talk about “pitching” and “catching”, they may not be talking about baseball.

I was willing to name my first born child Curt for about 3 weeks in 2004. It was a moment of weakness due to being deliriously high on happiness and Sam Adams for days on end.

I snapped out of that fast.

Can we see his birth certificate? I think he may actually be a dominican, sent here to infiltrate our beloved pasttime and then worm that into a political carreer.

In fact, I really think that every member of congress should produce their birth certificates.

Heck, Bush couldn’t even produce his service record.

I read that he is a registered independent so could not run as a Republican. It’s to late to change his affiliation. Of course, we all know who is in office after running as an independent.

Schilling’s a wanker and has been since he was with Philly. It’s always about him, him, and him. Actually, combine his ego with knowing nothing about anything, and he would fit right in as a Senator. Maybe he’s on to something.

Well, he’s a douche and an idiot (we call them Massholes down here), so he’s the perfect Republican candidate. Alas, he’s also not registered as a Republican and therefore not eligible to run.

As a lifelong Phillies fan, I can attest that when he wasn’t pitching, Schilling was one of the biggest douches in recent sports history.
Once the cameras went black and reporters turned off their recorders, Schilling was a prick.

Nobody on the ’93 Phillies team (that won the pennant) had any use for Schilling – then or now.

“Schilling had the unique ability to make his enemies seem honorable, and we all developed a keen sense of fraternity…Kruk hated Schilling, Mitch hated Schilling, Fregosi hated Schilling, and this hatred brought us together.”

    Dougj,

If this were my first time reading your post, I would think you were an idiot. But being a return customer, you have once again confirmed it.

Who cares what the party affiliation is? The real point would be new blood in the government. It takes at least one term maybe two before the fangs of corruption to sink in.

You only care about an R or D, you of course are a D(L), not in the slightest open minded, nor do you care about the paychecks that bought politicians collect at your own expense.

Each side has good ideas, the problem is they no longer have to work together because they spend to much time looking for gold instead of looking at the mirror of a better nation.

You are one of those fools.

I’m a register R yet I have voted D for the last 10 years for the mayor of San Antonio.

You vote for what you want or what’s best, not because your bound by affliliaton. You know nothing of Curt Schilling, that is obvious.

As a Yankee fan, I was willing to tip my cap to Schilling no matter how badly the knife was twisting in my guts after the end of that horrific collapse.

Right up until he told people to vote for Shrub. I’d bought two copies of High Heat Baseball to support his charity; as soon as I can get my own radar range and those CD-ROMS onto the same continent, I’m still gonna microwave those discs. And my must-bring list for Cooperstown thence and always includes a bottle of Clorox and a box of Fab.

I have to believe that Massachusetts voters are smart enough that voting for him would be a Bad Idea. (I have forlorn hopes that they’d be more inclined to vote in Bucky Dent.)

If I had to bet – which I never do, of course — I’d say that Curt will still be “mulling” this race when they count the votes next January. For two reasons:
    1) If he runs, he could lose.
    2) If he runs, he could lose to…a girl.

I do have to give Schilling credit for keeping Advanced Squad Leader alive when Hasbro bought Avalon Hill. Beyond that, I haven’t seen any sign that he is qualified to be senator, other than “Hey, I’m famous”

If that is all the qualification needed, why don’t they run Mr. T? You have to admit that this would be the most entertaining senatorial election in the history of the United States – I would give it two weeks before he’s shouting: “Stay in milk! Drink your drugs! Don’t do school!”
