Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

T R E 4 5 O N

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Bark louder, little dog.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

In my day, never was longer.

Republicans in disarray!

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

My right to basic bodily autonomy is not on the table. that’s the new deal.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

Be a wild strawberry.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

If a good thing happens for a bad reason, it’s still a good thing.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Reality always gets a vote in the end.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

Reposting from yesterday:

Vote for me or the ears get it!

Long story short- commenter Laura W.’s friend runs an animal rescue, and if her dog wins this competition, she will get a lot of money to help animals.

So go do something painless, and register to vote for Little Bitsy here. You can vote every day.

***

BTW, I was talking to Tammy this morning, and I got an earful- “I can’t believe you are promoting another dog in the cutest dog competition!” I knew her dog Sam was in a competition, but I didn’t know it was this one, so we may have a clash of civilizations in a couple weeks.

    Uh oh, somebody’s in trou-bleeeeeeee….

Maybe you should post both of them and let us BJers decide for whom we will vote!

Well, I just can’t say no to bitsy. So I registered and voted. Something about that look that says,”you’d better” or you’ll break a puppies heart.

I eagerly await the return of the guy who told us that Kevin Drum, who started the tradition of Friday cat blogging in the political blogosphere, is more serious than Balloon Juice because pictures of pets are posted here.

I’m not holding my breath though.

And, again a reminder to people: the estimable Laura W put a Project Wonderful ad up (on the left side of this site) for those who want a quick link for voting as the days go by.

    Also:

. . . we may have a clash of civilizations in a couple weeks.

But will it be a fault line conflict based on relative sympatric cuteness, or a core state conflict founded on basic principles of dog-ness?

I voted! Remember if you don’t vote for Bitsy, it’s good news for John McCain.

OK, not that Sam isn’t beyond-adorable, but remember, please, any money that Bitsy earns goes to the funding of a non-profit animal rescue group for a woman who has devoted her entire life to this work.

Perhaps Tammy intends to donate the $$ as well should Sam win.
Why don’t we combine civilizations instead of clashing them and mobilize everyone in both camps to push one dog into the winner’s circle one week and the other in another? We’ve got 7 more weeks and votes zero out on Sunday mornings.

However, I do think this is Bitsy’s best chance. I don’t know that we can get higher in a later week after all the momentum we have going at this point. Thanks to the people in yesterday’s thread who spammed other friends! And thanks for posting again, John.

AND you still Laura W a Lawrence O’Donnell thread (with pics of him in a snappy suit) to make up for forgetting about her ads on your site. It hard out here for a blogger, no?

Done (again). John, thank you for posting the reminder, with photo of Bitsy, every day. Otherwise, with all the best of intentions, I might not remember.

Seven??? What do they think they’re running–a Democratic primary?

I voted again today. But as I said yesterday in comments, I think she’s well down the leaderboard. I searched on some of last week’s Top 30 and some of them are over 1000 votes. One had over 1400 as of yesterday. It’s going to take a strong campagin to get Little Bitsy over the top.

@Violet: I know. That bummed me out a bit when I read that some of you had found big numbers for other dogs. I keep trying to think of something more to do or who else to notify. My ad designer pal is doing a ton on her blog and the cat blogosphere.

But you know…you never know who is reading this blog and may just silently send a fat check to Evelyn directly (which is why her address is printed on all of my ads. Ads thanks to SGEW’s brilliant idea, I might add.) There are lots of generous, anonymous donor angels who just do good things quietly and never expect, or want, recognition.

Good Things will come of this, even if Bitsy does not win $500 or more in this specific contest. All sorts of potential. It’s not always possible to know the exact shape the good will take at the front end of the process.

@Comrade Darkness: OK, you planted the evil seed. I just went in and entered my three other email addys and voted four times today. Is this cheating? Will my karma now suck? Probably, but the cause is good, right? Ends justify means, blah blah?

@Laura W: There is always the next round, next week. It all depends on the growth rate of each of the front runners. Presumably they won’t let up next round either.

I’m trying to work out the business model.

    1) Put up a million $
    2) Host traffic to spammers voting up dog pics
    3) ?
    4) Profit!

I voted. Again. If things look dire for our little Bitsy, I’ll register my other 5 emails and vote some more. I’d rather focus on her ‘election’ than any of the other crap going on in the political sphere. Bleg. May they all rot in a hell of their own making.

@Laura W: That would be terribly unfair, as mai kitteh is a nine pound ball of ferocious velocity, filled with a terrible malevolence and untempered violence she learned the hard way on the mean streets of Manhattan before her rescue. Even if she does need her belly rubbed every half hour, purrs so loud she wakes up the neighbors, and is the sweetest thing in the world, she’s a killer I tells ya. A killer. You should see her attacking her fuzzy toys. It’s brutal.

(And when you say “fur cage match,” I sure hope you’re not referencing this sort of thing.)

Suspect that there may be some “padding” going on here… like “others” taking on tons of new gmail/hotmail/etc free
addresses so they can vote multiple times… at least for BITSY, we’re running an honest campaign. Go Little Bitsy!

Laura I am on my way to Wonkette and Politijab to fight for Bitsy’s cause. If anyone can freep a vote it is the Wonketeers on a mission. Lets see if they take it up.
