Comrade Jake
I assume this is because Joe’s been reading Sarah Palin’s, and has decided that he’d better hire a pro.

“Professional Twit”?
Pablo
Joint session of Congress = Secret Service nightmare. Unpossible to keep track of all the crazies.
MikeJ
He may have pros to write his twitters but the poetry on his livejournal page is all his own. I never knew SC had elected an emo kid to congress.
Tim F.
I’m glad to see Rep. Wilson fighting this. His cause will nicely identify the true crazies who will defend any damned thing.
On the other hand, weaker minds in the media could punt and report Wilson as he said/she said.
mellowjohn
you can make a living tweeting for other people?
why am i knocking myself out teaching my special needs students every day?
gnomedad
Someone commenting on the fallout from Wilson’s performance said that perhaps there was such a thing as bad publicity, but I guess the news hasn’t reached Wilson.
arguingwithsignposts
@gnomedad:
There’s bad publicity, and there are assholes who try to “make lemonade out of lemons.” Great for Miller – I know he never anticipated $1 million out of that speech by Obama.
Bill E Pilgrim
I knew he had writers.
The original version of what he shouted at the speech probably went “You am lying!” before the pros gave it a polish for him.
Robertdsc-iphone
I just hope Miller doesn’t turn out to be a godsdamned Blue Dog if he wins.
Deborah
Palin should do the same. This could be the entry-level recent-liberal-arts grad job of the ’10s.
@10: Come on, a blue dog dem would be better than Wilson. And something tells me his congressional district–which is in SC, and has elected this numnut several times–trends conservative. This vision of all the most frothing congresscritters being unseated by progressive Kos-ite liberals is not based in reality.
gnomedad
@arguingwithsignposts:
Not quite at a million yet. Some of the fund titles on Rob Miller’s page are hilarious. Cole should start one.
Bill E Pilgrim
@Deborah:
Well, that’s true. If he were a Blue Dog he could vote against health care reform in a Democratic way, gosh darn it. What a help that would be.
Sorry, 77% of the country just polled as wanting a public option, which I guess makes the whole place “Kosite” liberals.
gnomedad
@Robertdsc-iphone:
You don’t understand. The Republicans are broken so we have to bring our own now.

OT, and no surprise, but from what I can see so far it’s the old white thousand moran march.

CNN is showing the Million Moran March.
Thus far it seems about a hundred people have shown up.

I went to my congress critters town hall last night. Erick Paulsen(R-MN)
It was amazing how unprofessional the guy was. He basically spent the whole time trying to explain that despite the health care bill having a lot of good ideas, he couldn’t support it because it was Obama. He spent most of the time reinforcing beliefs of the base.
It was pretty funny.

Bill E Pilgrim:
Yep, but the popular workaround had been to italicize quotes that are longer than a paragraph. You still have to separately italicize each paragraph, but the i-tag is shorter than the blockquote-tag, and it doesn’t look all broken up the way separately blockquoted paragraphs do.

Fortunately, liberals are already good at simulating opposition arguments in their own heads – ask 3 liberals, get 6 opinions, etc. – so we’ve had years of practice for this. If anybody is up to the task of simultaneously being both the ruling party and the loyal opposition, it is the Democrats.

CNN just showed a different angle of the Teabaggers which made their numbers seem a lot smaller. Looks to me like they barely stretch past 3rd St NW and Penn Ave.

John, this surprises you? I’d put the following bullet on my resume if it was applicable to the opportunity I was going for:
– Research, write and post product/service information, links and “chat” to various social media (Twitter, Facebook, My Space, blogs, etc.) for clients seeking to expand/deepen client relationships.
Seriously, sometimes I think the more literate left gets a little full of themselves about things like this. In a country where our education system bites, it’s not fair to criticize business people or politicians for needing help with communication strategies, not unless you do your own taxes. I don’t, I have a pro do it, and they have me handle their social media for them.
Sheesh. The alternative is reading more tweets that sound like they were written by Chuck Grassley.

Turned off FNC for awhile to check out Ed Schultz’ coverage on MSNBC which has been excellent… they’re waiting for Obama’s speech in Minneapolis, I think.
Anyhow, just flipped FNC back over, and Mike Pence & Jim DeMint are at the Teabag Rally, being interviewed remotely by Beck. DeMint just said the crowd behind him numbered in the hundreds of thousands.
The official estimate is 60,000, I believe, which I think is generous. There is no f’n way in hell that there are hundreds of thousands of people there. The rally is well in front of the Capitol, and they don’t even stretch to the Washington Memorial.

Michelle Malkin quotes official police estimates of 1.2 million. ABC News, she says, estimates the crowd at 2 million.
Now, over at ABC News, there story says “Tens of thousands,” so I’m not sure where Malkin got 2 million. And even the Washington Post says police estimates were “tens of thousands, possibly 60,000,” so where did she get the 1.2 million number?
Ash Can
@JenJen: That’s an awfully big number for her to pull out of her ass. I bet she’s sitting on an inner tube now, the poor thing.

OT, but Re: 9/12 in DC, the crowd will be bigger than projected – because something called the BLACK FAMILY REUNION CELEBRATION IS TAKING UP HALF THE MALL.
Hmmm. Some guy just walked by wheeling a cross large enough for a crucifixion. Going to follow him. Curious.
JenJen
Just to add on… is Michelle Malkin really willing to just make shit up, like the crowd was 2 Million?
I was at the Obama Inauguration. I don’t even think there were 2 Million then, but maybe close. And from Union Terminal all the way to the Capitol, it was asses-to-elbows getting down streets. I’ve never seen or experienced a crowd like that in my life, and I’m not excited to ever do it again.
Does Malkin want us to believe that the crowd at today’s Teabagger Rally was as big as the Obama Inauguration crowd? She’s full of shit.
I’m going to screencap this now, because she’ll deny it later.
http://michellemalkin.com/2009/09/12/celebrating-the-912-rallies/
JenJen
Glenn Beck just said “There are several MILLION of us in our Nation’s Capitol today.”
So yeah. They’re going with several million. You know, more than the Inauguration, which was billed as the biggest crowd DC had seen since the late 60’s, maybe bigger.
No reason not to believe Beck and Malkin and Dick Armey have topped it. None whatsoever, right?
hads
Take a look at Rep Wilson’s web page and you’ll see why he needed to hire a tweeter. It is one page, nothing interactive, and dull. There are only 5 links, all to House committees of which he is a member. He obviously has no net awareness or skills. This guy is in way over his head and now everybody knows it. Besides being rude and uncivil.
Ash Can
If Beck, Malkin et al. want to use ludricrous numbers to estimate the size of the teabagapalooza, more power to them. And then let’s see how many newsreaders can repeat their numbers this evening without cracking up on camera.

Why A Strong Public Option Is Essential – By jacksmith — Working Class
Robert Reich explains the pubic option: http://bit.ly/dDYSJ http://robertreich.blogspot.com/
It’s not just because more than two thirds of the American people want a single payer health care system. And if they cant have a single payer system 77% of all Americans want a strong government-run public option on day one (86% of democrats, 75% of independents, and 72% republicans). Basically everyone.
It’s not just because according to a new AARP POLL: 86 percent of seniors want universal healthcare security for All, including 93% of Democrats, 87% of Independents, and 78% of Republicans. With 79% of seniors supporting creating a new strong Government-run public option plan, available immediately. Including 89% of Democrats, 80% of Independents, and 61% of Republicans, STUNNING!!
It’s not just because it will lower cost. Because a strong public option will dramatically lower cost for everyone. And dramatically improved the quality of care everyone receives in America and around the World. Rich, middle class, and poor a like.
It’s not just because it will save trillions of dollars and prevent the needless deaths of millions more of YOU, caused by a rush to profit by the DISGRACEFUL, GREED DRIVEN, PRIVATE FOR PROFIT MEDICAL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX!
It’s not just because every expert in every field, including economist, and Nobel laureates all agree that free market based healthcare systems don’t work. Never have and never will. The US has the only truly free market based healthcare system in the World. And as you all know now, IT IS A DISASTER!
It’s not just because providing or denying medically necessary care for profit motivations is wrong. Because it is WRONG! It’s professionally, ethically, and morally REPUGNANT!, Animalistic, VILE and EVIL.
THE REASON THE PUBLIC OPTION IS ESSENTIAL:
The public option is ESSENTIAL because over 200 million of you are trapped in the forest of the wolves. Which is the forest of the DISGRACEFUL, GREED DRIVEN, PRIVATE FOR PROFIT MEDICAL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX! With no way out except through needless inhumane suffering, and DEATH. While the wolves tear at your flesh, and rip you limb from lib. Then feast on your lifeless bodies like a dead carcase for transplant parts.
At the most vulnerable times of your lives (when you were sick and hurting), millions of you have had to fight and loose cruel, but heroic battles. Fighting against the big guns of the DISGRACEFUL, GREED DRIVEN, PRIVATE FOR PROFIT MEDICAL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX! in the forest of the wolves. All because you have no place else to go. You have no other CHOICE!
But the PUBLIC OPTION will give you someplace safe to go. And it will give us someplace safe to take you. The public option will be your refugium (your refuge). Where the wolves cannot get at you when your down, hurting, and vulnerable. Where everyone who needs it can find rest, security, comfort and the care they need. Protected by the BIG GUNS of We The People Of The United States. THE MOST POWERFUL PEOPLE AND COUNTRY ON EARTH.
This is why it is so critical that we do not lead another 50 million vulnerable, uninsured Americans into the forest of the wolves, without the protections of a Strong Government-run public option. We The People Of The United States MUST NOT LET THAT HAPPEN to any more of our fellow Americans. If healthcare reform does not contain a strong public option on day one. YOU MUST! KILL IT. Or you will do far more harm than good. And millions more will die needlessly. Rich, middle class, and poor a like. NO INDIVIDUAL MANDATES! without a Strong public option on day one.
To those who would continue to obstruct good and true healthcare reform for the American people, and who seek to trap millions more vulnerable Americans in the forest of the wolves. We will continue to fight you. We are prepared to wage all out war against you, and will eagerly DESTROY! you. Time…is…UP! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! No Co-op’s! No Triggers!
Healthcare reform can be the GREATEST! Accomplishment of our time and century. A time when future generations may say of us, that we were all, AMERICAS GREATEST GENERATIONS.
BUT WE MUST ACT!
I therefore call on all my fellow Americans and the peoples of the World. To join us in this fight so that we may finish becoming the better America that we aspire to be for everyone.
SPREAD THE WORD!
I have been privileged to be witness as many of you fought, and struggled to take your first breath, and your last breath on this earth. Rich, middle class, and poor a like. Life is precious.
Whatever the cost. WE! MUST SUCCEED.
God Bless You My Fellow Human Beings
