Loud Dobbs just quit CNN. I’m sure his xenophobia and paranoia will fit right in over at Fox, as will the constant sucking of his dentures when he talks (something that drove me insane- it sounded like he was going to spray on the camera every time he talked). Will he talk that crazy woman who fills in for him into going with him?

I’m wondering who they will find to replace him. Maybe someone slightly less hateful, like, say, Michael Savage.

    Actually, I remember a time only a few short years ago when Lou Dobbs kept the focus of his show almost entirely on business, with very little explicit politics. Almost by definition, it will be hard to walk back to that on anything Fox has to do with.

    Well, ok…the Fox Soccer Channel does a superb job in sticking to its intended purpose of showing the beautiful game…and you don’t have to put up with any announcers as ignorant or obnoxious as Tommy Smyth (ESPN soccer broadcast’s equivalent of Lou Dobbs, and just as obnoxiously ignorant and arrogantly certain in his domain as Dobbs is in his). Fox can actually do something right in the sports arena, where they leave politics entirely behind.

Eikenberry has sent 2 classified cables to the President revealing misgivings about escalating in Afghanistan with Karzai still not handling the corruption, drug-trade and not uniting the people. His having been in command there is huge and he’s there now, also huge. McChrystal and some in the Pentagon are reported chapped as hell about it. And I read today that Colin Powell advised Obama to take his time on this decision, as it’s probably the most important one he’ll have to make.

    That’s not the case with my father. He’s a decent man who is also an attorney and a republican. He dislikes Grace because she comes off as so full of hate.     Next year is probably early, and maybe it will never happen at all, but Christie got a number of clouds hanging over him from his time as a Bush US attorney. Dodgy loans, suppressing investigations, hiring a donor’s son and then getting a campaign donation a week later, the works.

    Dobbs is probably going to be a carpetbagging teabagger or a teabagging carpetbagger. I can’t imagine him settling for something as lowly as a House seat and Governor is probably too much work, so Senate seems the most obvious. And he is not going to wait until 2012 when there next is a Senate race in New Jersey.

    Maybe there will be the start of an official new political party with some bigshots of whom Dobbs is one within the next two months or so.
