Have Fun At Fox

Loud Dobbs just quit CNN. I’m sure his xenophobia and paranoia will fit right in over at Fox, as will the constant sucking of his dentures when he talks (something that drove me insane- it sounded like he was going to spray on the camera every time he talked). Will he talk that crazy woman who fills in for him into going with him?

I’m wondering who they will find to replace him. Maybe someone slightly less hateful, like, say, Michael Savage.

I was tempted to watch Lou’s swan song, but I don’t wanna give the bastards the last day ratings.

Someone’s gotta watch it and post about it, so we don’t have to!!!!

So any guesses on who’s gonna get the 7pm timeslot?
Easy money is on Rick Sanchez, but I kinda hope it’s Christiane Amanpour.

He’ll probably end up at Fox Business not Fox News.

Actually, I remember a time only a few short years ago when Lou Dobbs kept the focus of his show almost entirely on business, with very little explicit politics. Almost by definition, it will be hard to walk back to that on anything Fox has to do with.

Well, ok…the Fox Soccer Channel does a superb job in sticking to its intended purpose of showing the beautiful game…and you don’t have to put up with any announcers as ignorant or obnoxious as Tommy Smyth (ESPN soccer broadcast’s equivalent of Lou Dobbs, and just as obnoxiously ignorant and arrogantly certain in his domain as Dobbs is in his). Fox can actually do something right in the sports arena, where they leave politics entirely behind.

He founded CNN fn (CNN financial news), serving as its president and anchoring the program Business Unusual, which examined business creativity and leadership.

He had some friends at CNN, which is why he lasted there as long as he did.

And someone mentioned Larry King: In the name of everything decent, isn’t it time for him to retire? I actually wince in pain when I am channel surfing and happen upon his show. I feel like I am watching a cartoon of a corpse do a talk show.

For that matter, why is talky tv so populated with people older than me (that is, way too old) and who haven’t had an original thought since Jack Paar was doing the Tonight Show? Pat Buchanan, for crying out loud? Jesus.

I didn’t read thru, so I don’t know if anyone mentioned that Amb. His having been in command there is huge and he’s there now, also huge. McChrystal and some in the Pentagon are reported chapped as hell about it. And I read today that Colin Powell advised Obama to take his time on this decision, as it’s probably the most important one he’ll have to make.

CNN is currently odd man out. When the music stopped, of course Fox got the wingnut chair, and MSNBC plopped down in the libtard one. And CNN was left with their thumb up their arse running commercials on how Anderson Cooper is going to start socking it to lying liberal politicians, just to polish his rep like a wingnut will watch cause he ain’t ghey and secretly hearts Ronnie Raygun. All they have left is Larry King , Wolf Blitzer, and surplus embalming fluid. Stick a fork in em, they’re done.

I get the feeling it might not be FOX he’ll head for. It might be politics, or the 2,500 wingnut welfare “think-tanks” who would love to have him, or both. This choad really does have a high opinion of himself, no?

Not that the wingnuts ever cared before when one after another of her tele-lynch victims turned out to be innocent. But this particular rush to judgment really incensed the wingnuts; why they got so upset about this one, but not the others (in fact cheered them wildly) is a mystery that time may never reveal.

But the upshot is that in this generation of non-readers and MTV-watching, text-messaging twitter twats, absolutely NOONE in her, um, fanbase (I mean, she holds no office, so you can’t really say “base”) is actually going to finish reading the book. For this reason I’m going to read the book myself (the county library is your friend) just to figure out the average distance people read before they inevitably gave up.

But this particular rush to judgment really incensed the wingnuts; why they got so upset about this one, but not the others (in fact cheered them wildly) is a mystery that time may never reveal.

That’s not the case with my father. He’s a decent man who is also an attorney and a republican. He dislikes Grace because she comes off as so full of hate. He feels that hatred has no place on TV or in court. In other words, he believes hate, one way or another, perverts the criminal justice system. I agree.

Next year is probably early, and maybe it will never happen at all, but Christie got a number of clouds hanging over him from his time as a Bush US attorney. Dodgy loans, suppressing investigations, hiring a donor’s son and then getting a campaign donation a week later, the works.

Dobbs is probably going to be a carpetbagging teabagger or a teabagging carpetbagger. I can’t imagine him settling for something as lowly as a House seat and Governor is probably too much work, so Senate seems the most obvious. And he is not going to wait until 2012 when there next is a Senate race in New Jersey.

Maybe there will be the start of an official new political party with some bigshots of whom Dobbs is one within the next two months or so.

    That was fast:

“The announcement by CNN that Lou Dobbs will be leaving the cable news channel is welcome news for all Americans who value fair-minded journalism. As the host of a nationally telecast program of commentary, news and interviews, Dobbs has engaged in the worst kind of xenophobic, race-baiting interpretations of the issues surrounding immigration policy, legitimized by the imprimatur of CNN. It was past time for it to end, and we’re glad it has.

For years, we at The Hispanic Institute – along with other organizations that care about informed, enlightened immigration policy – have decried Dobbs’ illogical, inflammatory rhetoric, and we have expressed our strong disappointment in CNN’s management for keeping him on the air. CNN’s otherwise solid journalistic reputation was tainted by Dobbs; indeed, we were saddened in 2008, when, with no other good choices, we were forced to call for a boycott of the news channel to protest Dobbs’ continued presence at CNN.

Now the channel has a chance to regain its professional authority. Our hope is that he will be replaced by someone with a more measured and intellectually honest outlook. CNN and the viewing public will all benefit.”
