On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.
From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.
Mario Piperni, Solar Tristan.

Email me a link to your one or two favorite pics on a photo site like Flickr (do not send the image itself please) and I will put up favorites in open threads. Send a short caption if you want one.
Click on the photos for a link to the photographer’s website. To see all photo threads, click on ‘photo blogging’ at the bottom of the post.
If your computer cannot read our email links at top right, my email is (remove the zeroes): portus0jackson0ii at yahoo dot com.

Oh my god. I am in awe, especially of the first pic. You guys continue to amaze and astound me.

As good as the pictures are, and they’re great, the captions are better.

You got my message! Thanks, Tim.

I think this is Radley Balko actively rooting for more unemployment in West Virginia:

I don’t know what to make of that.

These photos are amazing. I have no talents in this area and have no idea how it was done, but that top photo is awesome.
Even more awesome, though, is this:

David Frum and Joe Klein are on bloggingheads together, in one segment wondering how “serious” Obama is on Afghanistan. I dare not watch.

That is just about the only solarized picture I’ve ever seen that I liked.
More urgently: I was unwittingly exposed to the latest Lady GaGa noises while at the gym this morning. They’ve been stuck in my head for 14 hours. Anybody have any antidotes for this (musical, I mean– though I am considering slamming my head in the car door)?
WereBear
@R-Jud: James Brown always works for me. Or Parliament.

@R-Jud: That is just cruel. What music are you thinking? I would hate to displace Lady Gaga with something equally annoying. I am spending a beautiful day waiting on a plumber. Good times.
Tim F.
@R-Jud: Sweet Dreams (are made of these) works for me as an anti-earworm earworm.
R-Jud
@WereBear: Super. One playthrough of “Git Up Offa That Thing” and I’m cured. You’re a lifesaver. I had been listening to Traffic, and then the Magnetic Fields, but apparently you can only fight bad plastic lady pop with funk.
Behold, the power of the funk.

Mario Piperni: When they told you to bronze the baby booties as a keepsake, they meant JUST THE BOOTIES!

“When they told you to bronze the baby booties as a keepsake, they meant JUST THE BOOTIES!”
lol. Now you tell me…

Sorry for the blatant self-promotion but more of my photoshopping found at MarioPiperniDotCom.
Political illustrations mostly. Check out the ‘Original Art’ tab.
RedKitten
@R-Jud: Funk has the power to solve EVERYTHING.
Just back from getting my H1N1 vaccination. They gave my husband a Scooby-Doo bandaid. :)

@RedKitten:
Probably won’t get called up for mine until December. Bean’s is next week.
