Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

T R E 4 5 O N

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

You are either for trump or for democracy. Pick one.

The real work of an opposition party is to hold the people in power accountable.

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

You’re just a puppy masquerading as an old coot.

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

The only way through is to slog through the muck one step at at time.

The lights are all blinking red.

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

Fear or fury? The choice is ours.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Dumb motherfuckers cannot understand a consequence that most 4 year olds have fully sorted out.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

I’m envious. It’s hot and humid here. Will be going for a run in a little bit anyway, despite the suboptimal conditions.

A slight dampening here in the SF Bay Area. Some sprinkles moved through last night. A real storm should be coming in off of the Pacific within the week.

The air is clean. Good day for a walk.

Chilly here — the husband’s gone off to do some work, and I’ll probably just spend much of the day tidying, as my mom is coming to visit on Monday.

A great flaming orb has appeared in the sky. The People are frightened, but I vaguely remember something like it, back in the long-long-ago, before the coming of the Rain That Never Ends.

Can I just say that Fox Soccer Channel sucks?

Crucial World Cup qualifying matches going on on three continents today, and they choose to show the meaningless friendlies involving the US and England.

    Wankers.

LOL I had the feeling it meant something untoward somewhere.

It’s cloudy and cold here which is the norm for us. Though the last week has been very nice and we were happy to have the Extreme Makeover crew here to give us some plus media on our usually depressing weather.

It’s a cool and cloudy morn here in the high desert. Perfect sleeping weather and I’m going to take advantage of that and catch up some.

The other night I had a dream that a bunch of us were in the WH helping Obama clean up a dirty kitchen. Don’t know what that means, if anything, but maybe I’ll find out if we got the job done.

Gorgeous day here in north Alabama. We’re going to Birmingham this tonight to see a production of “Parade”, which is our son’s senior project in college (he’s a lighting designer). We’re blue highway junkies, so we’re packing our DeLorme Atlas and plan to find yet another obscure way to get from here to there. Maybe go see the highest covered bridge in the USA.

Pouring rain and blowing fairly hard north of Boston. Small lake forming in the stone dust walk to the front steps, not good for the showing the real estate agent is doing at 3 p.m. However, it won’t make it noticeable that the windows haven’t been washed.

@Morbo, I couldn’t find it at a Brit slang site, but I did find a slang term appropriate for Carrie Prejean:

Rosie Palm and her five sisters: Noun. The hand when employed for masturbation…Also Rosy Palm and her five sisters. Cf. ‘madam palm and her five sisters/daughters’.

    More Obama awesome:

Michigan and California are likely to face a fresh round of budget woes when federal stimulus funds used as a fiscal crutch dry up, finance directors for the states said Friday.

Short-term budget gaps have battered states as revenues plummeted during the recession. Aided by about $250 billion in funds from the stimulus package expected through the end of next year, states managed to close the gaps this year. But both finance directors, speaking at a Pew Center on the States event in Washington, were pessimistic about their states’ futures beyond fiscal 2011.

“We’re facing a cliff in 2011 when stimulus dollars run out,” said Mitchell Bean, director of the Michigan House Fiscal Agency. “There is not an end in sight, even in recovery.”

The obvious solution to the states’ financial woes is cap and trade…kneecapping industry. Also, the much more immediate solution, is to pile on billions more in states’ obligations to the sheeple, by way of a massive new bureaucratic health-care entitlement, a Medicaid for everyone, that will pass these costs onto the states the public option, which “keep the insurance companies honest” by keeping costs low.

Western PA is having the most beautiful November ever. Temps have been in the 60s with sun shining in sapphire skies. And they say this will last for at least another entire week. Amazing, considering we usually have fewer sunny days than Seattle.

    Why I Love Balloon Juice

Woven through a serious discussion recently about the asshat State Senator who thinks it would be a good idea for babies catch AIDS so as to teach their slutty mommies a thing or two, El Cid does his channeling BoB riff and that inspires Comrade Mary to propose marriage to him, adding that since she’s in Canada it doesn’t matter if he’s a dude or a lady or a hamster.

This inspires wedding gift suggestions, including Canadian Tire money, gold bullion, guns, ammo, canned food and hamster re-inflation kits (the latter has something to do with obesity on the rise in Canada and pcbedamned worrying about hamsters married to humans getting squashed).

Then Laura W informs us she would have totally married her hamster Fred if he hadn’t died right on her boobs in bed one night and whose subsequent necropsy revealed him to be a hermaphrodite anyway.

Which prompted Just Some Fuckhead to say he was pretty sure he had read about Laura and Fred in his issue of Pethouse Variations, and that Fred was rather taken with Laura, as he recalled.

General Winfield Stuck confessed that he’d once bought two hamsters and two months later had about a hundred of the things and that now his backyard is a veritable Hamster Graveyard.

pcbedamned had some kind of typing spaz and told us about developing an allergy to bunnies when she got pregnant with her first 16 years ago; also she was ragging on her kid and clarifying her wiring for some reason, after which she swore to lay off the meds and go to bed.

At this point I was laughing so hard in that stifled choking helpless kind of way that I wasn’t sure I’d ever catch a breath again and I thought “this is why I love Balloon Juice” and I had to write about that and then the comments went back to stuff like Christians burning in a lake of fire, Hell having a limited amount of real estate, PETA’s Klan rally at the Westminster dog show and “watch me fuck this goat!”

Sigh. BJ is a special place. Thank you, that is all.

(I was inspired to write this after reading the thread “Where do they find these people?”)
